A Dash of Sult N Papper 08/03/20> “There’s no denying…” Damn right there isn’t.

Yesterday I asked...

Yesterday I ask the question of, “Now what?” as I wait for Saturday to arrive and see what the contest entries look like. I’m faced with the fact that it isn’t up to me on whether or not the contest is successful.

Running a contest is a lot like being a farmer the way I see it.

The farmer preps the soil, plants his seeds, spreads some fertilizer and then lets Mother Nature run its course from there. I prepped the readers of the Dash ahead of the official announcement.

The seed was planted with that announcement, and I have spread some fertilizer in discord channels and the poker tables. I will mention it again later in the week but I’m not going to focus on the contest and waste valuable days of doing what I enjoy doing which is trying to get people to stop and think.

Stopping and thinking...

Stopping and thinking are getting more difficult it seems. I know in my lifetime just one big change has been the way news is reported. Back when I was growing up and even as a young adult the news for the most part was three half hour segments on television at 7 AM , 6PM , and 10 PM. now we have 24 hours news channels .

Back in the old days you could hear the news and then have several hours to think about what you had heard until the next blast of news came your way. Those were different times back then, or at least I think they were, because the news was meant to inform you about what was happening both locally and nationally and even internationally.

"There's no denying that television is one of the most powerful propaganda media we've ever invented.", quote by Jim Fowler.^

In the old...

In the old days you’d see Jim Fowler on television as the host of the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, he was a very well known and respected zoologist more important than that; he was absolutely correct with that quote.

The proof that Jim Fowler was correct is evidenced by the fact there are 24 hour news channels, the first of them came about in 1980 as Cable News Network (CNN). There are at least eight 24 hour news channels available on cable television right now in the US and I would think around the world too.

When the "news outlets"...

When the “news outlets” realized the potential to influence could be expanded from what was only a mere two hours in the day to a full 24 hours a day it didn’t go unnoticed.

As competition grew in the 24 hours news arena another thing happened that should be pointed out, it wasn’t important to get the news reported accurately; it was important to be the first to report it.

Think about the first time you were introduced to someone for the first time. What were your first impressions of that person?

First impressions are...

First impressions are lasting impressions; it is just part of our human nature and there isn’t any denying that fact. The news networks know that and when you see or hear something for the first time there is an impression made in your mind about that item.

So when any of these news networks gets caught red handed lying to us about what actually took place they will always fall back to "the excuse".
That excuse sounds something like this, “in our effort to bring you the news of the breaking situation we later discovered….” and then they go on to somewhat correct the propaganda they filled your mind with.

Knowing full well that you might never see their admission or correction. They also know that the first impression you got from the initial report will be hard for you to delete from your mind.

Propaganda is the...

Propaganda is the dissemination of information used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view with biased or misleading information. What I have to say next may infuriate some folks in the USA but so be it; the biggest source of propaganda is our own government.

Not only is our government the biggest source of propaganda they also have hidden several things from us and have done so through the cooperation of the media.

I’m not talking about just recent events either this has been going on for well over 120 years. I don’t have the exact quote or which congressman said it but it had to do with banking and our financial system.
The congressman was thanking the media for “keeping quiet” about what they were doing by instituting the Federal Reserve System. “We would have never been able to pull this off if public had been informed”.

The only thing...

The only thing we do have going for us is some very old papers dating back to the founding of this country. I tweeted out earlier last week about 1776 and consent of the governed. You might recognize that date and those words as having to do with the Declaration of Independence. Great if you did.

Tomorrow I’ll continue with some important observations and ideas about the founding of the United States. Also, we’ll have what the Secretary of State had to say about unalienable rights on 7.16.20.

Until next time,
Sult

It makes me so happy that you were able to use that quote @sultnpapper! I always liked to see Jim Fowler on the television and I think his quote rings very true! I wanted to say especially now but I believe also that we've been lied to for a very long time. I don't watch the "news" on the television but try to seek out the real news by alternate news sources that I trust. 💖

Well I'm glad it was there too use. That is exactly why I ran that contest so I would have easy access to pre-screened
material to choose from. That is the second time I've used a quote from the contest but the first time I thought to mention how I came about getting the quotes but will do that in the future with all of the quotes I use.
