Der Laurin & Klement A mit der Bezeichnung 6/7 HP war das erste Automobil dieses böhmischen Herstellers von Fahr- und Motorrädern. Es kam 1905 als 2-sitzige Voiturette moderner Konzeption heraus und war zu seiner Zeit als Kleinwagen einzuordnen.
The Laurin & Klement A with the designation 6/7 HP was the first automobile from this Bohemian manufacturer of bicycles and motorcycles. It came out in 1905 as a 2-seater voiturette of a modern concept and was classified as a small car in its time.
Der vorne längs eingebaute, wassergekühlte, seitengesteuerte Zweizylinder-V-Motor arbeitet nach dem Viertaktprinzip, hat einen Hubraum von 1005 cm³ und eine Leistung von 7 PS (5,2 kW). Er beschleunigte das 500 bis 550 kg (je nach Quelle) schwere Fahrzeug bis auf 40 km/h (56 km/h nach anderer Quelle). Über das separate Dreiganggetriebe und eine für diese Zeit moderne Kardanwelle wird die Antriebskraft an die Hinterräder weitergeleitet.
The water-cooled, side-controlled two-cylinder V-engine, installed lengthways at the front, works according to the four-stroke principle, has a displacement of 1005 cm³ and an output of 7 hp (5.2 kW). He accelerated the 500 to 550 kg (depending on the source) heavy vehicle up to 40 km / h (56 km / h according to another source). The drive power is passed on to the rear wheels via the separate three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft that was modern for this time.
Der Rahmen des Wagens besteht aus genieteten Stahl-U-Profilen und ist vorn gekröpft. Der Wagen hat Starrachsen, Halbelliptik-Blattfedern rundum und abnehmbare Holzspeichenräder (sogenannte Artillerieräder) der Dimension 700 × 80. Die Fußbremse wirkt auf die Getriebeausgangswelle, die Feststellbremse separat auf beide Hinterräder. Diese ist wie der Schalthebel außen rechts vom Fahrersitz angeordnet. Im ersten Produktionsjahr wurden mindestens 44 Fahrzeuge gebaut. Der Typ A hatte keinen unmittelbaren Nachfolger, doch wurde ihm 1906 eine etwas größere Voiturette Typ B zur Seite gestellt.
The frame of the car consists of riveted steel U-profiles and is cranked at the front. The car has rigid axles, semi-elliptical leaf springs all around and removable wooden spoke wheels (so-called artillery wheels) measuring 700 × 80. The foot brake acts on the transmission output shaft, the parking brake separately on both rear wheels. Like the gearshift lever, this is located outside to the right of the driver's seat. At least 44 vehicles were built in the first year of production. The Type A had no immediate successor, but in 1906 a slightly larger Voiturette Type B was added to the side.
