You are entitled to nothing

in #deutsch2 years ago

Dear Hiveans, dear Newbies,

If you've watched the political series "House of Cards", you probably remember that great speech of US President Frank Underwood:

And, yes, I'd like to apply that crucial principle "You are entitled to nothing" to Hive.

Soon (as I wrote here) many people in the world will learn that our age of entitlement is going to end (a lot of people think they are entitled to a universal basic income, free education, a well-paying and emotionally fulfilling job, work-life balance, a green planet, free healthcare, affordable housing, ...).

Hiveans who survived their first 3-10 critical moments (when they asked themselves "WTF am I doing here?") already know that just being on Hive entitles us to nothing. To succeed here requires some serious effort.

  • Unfortunately, the onboarding process is not very smooth and user-friendly.
  • Unfortunately, it is not easy to start in this community, if you don't know a whale or anybody at all.
  • Unfortunately, there are some idiots on Hive who downvote arbitrarily (just because they don't like certain opinions or because of a missing source for a tiny picture).
  • Unfortunately, the Hive price is currently not high enough to enable people to pay their cost of living with their rewards (except for few high-earning Hiveans).
  • [...]

The flip side of the coin is, however, that our ecosystem Hive is "work in progress" as it is just getting started. So, these problems can (and I think will) be solved. But it takes time.

Even if it is not easy to succeed on Hive, there is help and there are certain techniques that help:
- There are some people who are very welcoming and engaging, e.g. @brittandjosie who has also been a victim of downvoting and I have much respect for her stamina and her consistency in writing despite these nasty downvotes (example for her support of newbies here).
- I've already tried to summarize my learnings here.
- The rising Hive price (one year ago Hive stood at 0.13$) helps Hive developpers and bloggers and investors and pulls attention and energy to our network.

So, yes, we are entitled to nothing, nothing is handed to us. All depends on our decision and our activity to consistently improve the "Hive experience", for us and for all Hiveans.
Let's build Hive’s future!
Let's do it!

Liebe Hiver, liebe Neulinge,

Let's build Hive‘s future!
Let's do it!

Queridos Hiveanos, queridos Newbies,

- Ya he intentado resumir mis aprendizajes aquí.

Hive can still be viewed as a project in it's infancy and i guess the unrealized efforts might be yet to come when some of us start developing projects together. I'm very excited about that and also about the soon to come speak network. Once more hive will be required for future games and dapps, we might see people being able to pay for their operating expenses? Since the network needs it for staking and transacting, there will be little hive left on the open market. In such a case i see hive going up drastically with our available supply at some point. Thinking about supply and demand, i see the first half of that period rather moderate, because some of us will power down and sell a part of their stake. In the blockchain space not many see much marginal utility in hive yet. At least not the way our community does? There will be a second wave, that might propel this blockchain to where a lot of people will realize that dPoS and how it played out here might be unique to this community. The wack off that our gamification gives with proof of brain only makes a few prevail and endure to see a greater picture? I guess anyone here who expects more than non-monetary value might get disappointed. That's because hive is much more than that.

It is not at all strange to have claims, we grew up with them. Even the insurance language I was once trained in is teeming with entitlements and their foundations :)

Life was once given to me, I naturally strive to maintain my accustomed quality of life and if so, to forfeit it only in such a way that I also slowly get used to it. Resistance to changing your worldview too quickly can knock you down a peg or two, and some people never get up from it.

Blogging on the blockchain:
You find a group where you want to blog and follow the rules of that group.
I did this at the beginning of my "Steemit career" because I wanted to find out why some bloggers had such nice payouts. After two years or so, I had enough of that and started blogging without a group. The payouts went down immediately. In a way, I've stuck to publishing my stuff as a single person - with no group affiliation - until recently, but am now keen to get back into a group. The science section has interested me for a long time, maybe that will come back too, at the moment it's more writing, participating in story writing competitions.

I find the quality standards here rather mediocre, but the broad masses are in demand and there are probably no geniuses here. I'm not one either. LOL

That one has no claim to anything is of course an exaggeration and provocative. But sure, I'm born naked and I die naked.

gute Dosis Realismus.

Yup and rehived :-)

I do like people with political principles because I learn from them. Thanks for sharing

Frank Underwood’s speech was a memorable one and it’s true that the world own’s us nothing, despite of what a lot off bloggers on the different platforms and blockchain feel. The fact that people think this is a “get rich quick sceme” is visible in an early stage. Because people don’t do what’s needed to build their account. And that building from scratch is super difficult mind you I know that. I have been doing this for almost 4 years and yes I “own” some hive but if I would have invested that in my real job that could have been so much more more for sure, BUT I love building my library of life. And something that will be embedded in the blockchain for ever.

So thank you for the compliment and the fact this blog is about this subject. Building a future to serve yourself , yes that would be the best, and please make it in big numbers. Like Frank said : build your future it’s not handed to you , does apply to hive aswell. It’s a job, A JOB! Not a fun on the side thing if you want the big numbers.

And the onboarding on hive and the first few steps into this new online blockchain world is not taken care of , or is it? I know it is but it’s not embraced by the whole platform to take new arrivals by the hand, and that’s fine. The team we have is doing that, and great if I may bragg. We started the terminal long ago and in December we celebrate a new milestone again. There we help, delegate, vote, read and engage. To try to explain what hive is , but also what hive can be if it’s treated as a job. And we do see some people that succeed. And that is the reason to help and be there every day. Because also that is building a platform, getting people to stay. Thanks to @thekittygirl @jamerussell @wesphilbin @stayten @justclickindiva and @drakernoise it’s an honour working with you. And all is voluntary that is need to be said here aswell.

The downvotes is a thing, some say it’s needed some say it’s used wrong. I agree but it’s also the freedom that comes with owning an account.

Thank you for this blog, made my day !
Auf wiedersehen

Thanks for your kind words @brittandjosie but you know I try and do as much as possible when possible, would love to do more but time lead my way.

Not easy to make a place here in the Hive ecosystem but it's not easy elsewhere. All need effort and persistence hence a bit of talent. The nice thing is that the Hive blockchain is building new ways for people to grow and develop their skills although they aren't good at blogging. The GameFi is on of those but not the only one, NFTs are hitting hard lately too and I'm sure there's much to come soon.

Best wishes over there 🤗

Unfortunately, there are some idiots on Hive who downvote arbitrarily (just because they don't like certain opinions or because of a missing source for a tiny picture).

Idiots mother is always pregnant.

Oh how well I can relate with this.
I tried on boarding a newbie today and it wasn't easy or the nicest experience.
I still have a long way to tutor him and help him stay out of plagiarism.

I cherish @brittandjosie too and how welcoming she has been to every newbie.

Above all we owe it to ourselves to improve our hive experience.
I have been here for less than two years now, the journey so far has posed alot for me to learn relearn and readjust.

The post is an encouraging one and am glad I found it.

Do you know this one from Twain:

For a kiss, you need both hands.

Hive is not perfect, like all other places aren't perfect. It's beautiful, ugly, nasty, trippy, merciless, friendly. It has all aspects of variance, except physicality.
