DTUBE VLOG 38: OVERDRESSING & A PARTY

in #dtube6 years ago

Part II of the trip to Liepāja during the Easter holidays. We had adventures: from playing ‘a sort of a pool game but not a pool game’ novuss with the family to a hip-hop live stream, and later a concert of the notorious Latvian rapper the Oak.

Also, I’m having a bit of a girly talk here, but.. maybe not really (oh, these darn gender roles stuck to topics even), I’m just talking about how the way we dress, when not conforming to a written or unwritten dresscodes, can bring out this unpleasant awkwardness, feeling ‘out of place’.
I think that this want to comply with a dresscode is out of the same old desire to fit in. Humans - these awkward social beings - have the wonderful weakness: we want to have an affinity of any degree with others. When we’re not like the others, just from the outer layer, it makes us feel conspicuous and uneasy.
But then again.. why should it be that way? In a lot of cases we take this dresscode thing so seriously, that in case if 'missed', it doesn't allow you to enjoy the time being here and now.

Thanks for watching! ✌🏼

Elegant as always. You bring forth a great point regarding overdressing and how it is too ingrained in nowadays society as something suitable for only certain occasions. I say - do whatever makes you happy.

Anyhow, keep up the good work! Love your chill vids.

Thank you! ✌🏼
Wishing you the best of luck here!

I'd say, you'd fit in almost anywhere, dressed up or not.

Throughout history, the way you dress has reflected your place in society.

When it becomes a requirement, thats when it all becomes it bit boring.

Variety is the spice of life.

I admire people who can clash with their environment, and still feel totally comfortable.

I refuse to wear a suit and tie, at least a contemporary one.

A clown suit might be fun, for a day.

Thank you, haha!
Right! I absolutely agree with your point. It's lovely when you can 'own' that clash and get rid of that social anxiety.
Let's have an international 'to hell with dresscodes' day.

What or who would you dress up as?

I'd have to wear makeup and get some vintage 1970's attire, I still haven't decided who I like best though.

This was one of my favorite songs as a kid.

I had NO idea, its still the best music video EVER. I still dream of being a "Macho Man".

Hahaha, village people!
Oh yes, great idea, you touched my nostalgia for the previous decades.
I think I would like to dress up in a ridiculously cosmic fashion, think late 60s space age, and go to work in a plastic visor and shiny boots.

I had moon boots as a kid too, shiny foam things with the same tread pattern as the original, or so I was told.

That reminds me of a coworker who wore those style of boots to work everyday, had his sweatshirt tucked into his jeans, and a classic blond 80's style mullet haircut to go with it. We nicknamed him Fabio.

Fun Times!

"Don't give a shit about what anyone thinks!" Yes yes and yes again! The only judgment coming should be from oneself in order to check if you are adhering to your moral compass, all else is perceived to exist and comes to exist because the mind has made it. Always love when you discuss mindfulness :)

I think I have played a game like Novuss before. It looks very similar to a game they play in India!! At least you came away with something for your efforts. A glitter bunny is better than no glittery bunny haha

Oh these wicked minds of ours. :)

Wow! Then we should totally play it when you come to visit, but I'm the best worst player, so you'll win, haha!

It's funny that the bunny was first intended as the winning prize, and I had a laugh about how it is is an over-the-top symbol of a consumerist interpretation of Easter. 😄

True talk my dear art.life. I upvote, resteem and follow you.

Best...i like it you vidio
