Green Energy : Only option for sustainable development

in #education4 years ago

Green energy is a sustainable source that is not very harmful to both the environment and human health. In fact, green energy is generated from natural renewable energy sources such as the sun, wind, water, geology and plants. At present, the cost of fuel is increasing due to the continuously increasing population of the world and parallel to this, there is a continuous decrease in the conventional fuel reserves. In such a situation, all the people have started searching for alternative sources of energy.

Green energy with immense potential for the future is becoming a necessity today. In the last three decades, research and development has taken place in green energy. The latest green technologies are coming out, which are enough to reduce people's dependence on traditional energy sources like coal, oil and natural gas. It is now slowly becoming clear that green energy sources can prove to be a better alternative than fossil fuels. Solar energy, Wind energy, Water energy and geothermal energy are some of types of Green energy available today.

Why are green energy better option?

The above mentioned options of green energy and their renewable and regenerated capabilities have forced them to prove themselves superior to conventional energy sources. We all know that the energy sources that the world has been using as fossil fuels for years, are a limited resource. While their development takes millions of years, their excessive exploitation will reduce them over time. Another great thing is that green energy options have far fewer side effects on the environment than fossil fuels, because they do not emit greenhouse gases.

In addition, mining or drilling is often required in places on the earth to obtain fossil fuels that are ecologically sensitive. Green energy options are completely free and easily available in abundance. They do not have the monopoly of any country or commercial establishment like fossil fuels like oil, gas or nucleus fuels like uranium etc. Therefore, their supply is also uninterrupted and green energy becomes cost effective. In this way, green energy options are purely simple, ubiquitous, and easily available throughout the world, including rural and remote areas where electricity has not yet been reached.

Why is green energy not so popular?

The technologies of green energy alternatives are constantly developing, yet they are not becoming popular. Solar panels, wind turbines and other sources of green energy are being used primarily to produce electricity. But one common fact that emerges in all these options is that they have to be more expensive, because their production requires huge investment. There is a lack of awareness about green energy among the people, due to which the exploitation of green energy is very less despite the available capacity.

People are not able to trust with these choices because for years, they have got used to using traditional energies and they have got emotional connection. Since there can be sudden changes in the amount of green energy, it is also possible that their availability will affect production at the time of demand or requirement. Therefore, due to their reliable supply, there remains a doubt about the practical inconvenience of green energy. As with the introduction of any new technology, the same is happening with green energy options. It is natural to question their actual capabilities and their credibility as a source of renewable energy.

Why is green energy only the only option for the future?

In the last few decades, due to the ever-increasing average population of the world, modern technological developments and the increasing rate of electrification, the demand for energy has increased at an equally rapid rate globally. Environmental experts believe that this demand can be met through various alternatives to green energy. Green energy has become the only future option for better health of the people, control over the increasing expenditure of conventional fuels like coal, global warming and reducing the emissions of acid rain and carbon-dioxide.

How to ensure the future of green energy?

With the expansion of wind and water power from solar energy to seaside areas in the world, power generation from geothermal energy can meet the world's maximum power needs. By adopting green energy, air pollution can be reduced by improving the quality of the world environment. This requires massive use of green energy as well as strengthening of its storage capacity. For people to adopt green energy voluntarily, it has to be connected emotionally and socially. To increase their credibility, more control over green energy resources and better performance will have to be ensured.
