Cyber-Greetings to all my #Hive readers. Today I want to share with you an easy and delicious recipe for a Brazilian dessert.
I must confess I was not sure about the meaning of this sweet, why it was called brigadeiro, so I searched Wikipedia and found this story:
The origin of the name "Brigadeiro" is linked to the presidential campaign of Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, UDN candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 1946. Heloísa Nabuco de Oliveira, a member of a traditional carioca family who supported the brigadeiro's candidacy, created a new confection, and named it for the candidate. The doce de brigadeiro (brigadier's sweet) became popular, and the name was eventually shortened to just "brigadeiro." Despite the support received, Eduardo Gomes was defeated, and the election was won by then General Eurico Gaspar Dutra.
How to prepare the Brigadeiros?
Like any other dessert, there are many recipes. This is probably the easiest way to prepare Brigadeiros:
Ingredients:
400 grams of condensed milk
35 grams of powder chocolate
15 grams of unsalted butter
Chocolate sprinkles (I will use rainbow sprinkles).
Paper molds.
Preparation:
In a pot, pour the condensed milk with the powder chocolate and the butter. Mix well at low temperature.
After 10 minutes you will notice how it thickens.
Keep moving the mix constantly blending until the dough can be easily removed from the pot.
Remove pot from fire. Put the content of the pot in a clean container smeared with butter.
Cover it with plastic wrap (make sure there is no room for air bubbles).
Wait until it cools at room temperature or accelerate the process (6 to 8 hours in the refrigerator, or 2 to 4 hours in the freezer).
Put some butter on your hands and make little balls with the dough (with s tea spoon, of aprox. 20 grams each).
Roll them on the sprinkles (it could be anything from nuts to chocolate to coconut. I chose rainbow sprinkles this time).
Serve them on the paper molds. You can get some 20/25 Brigadeiros in less than an hour!
It is advisable to keep them in the refrigerator until they are going to be served/eaten. They taste better cold.
Thanks for the support, I will keep posting.
