RE: Climate change: It is the message that matters, not the messenger

in #green6 years ago

There is a huge problem for me with her, she is not providing solutions and her travels are powered by political interests. While starting with good intentions, she now is schooled in public relations and well-financed by the left spectrum of the political spheres.

Check her total public appearance. 0 Solutions - to never have to discuss them, so there is no way to oppose her with arguments or let her be part of a solution. They made her a tool, she really belongs back 2 school... how foolish of her to let it come this far.

Sort:

So you are making it about her and not the actual issue? Why do you expect a child to solve this difficult problem? She is acting as the conscience the politicians seem to lack.

So you are making it about her and not the actual issue? Why do you expect a child to solve this difficult problem?

Yes exactly! This is the out of the Box answer and the reason why she gets funded and pushed around. That poor girl gets dragged around the globe and pushed in front of cameras while people tell her that she will save the world.
Thanks for being a sheep and repeating the narrative that you've been told by the media for weeks. Btw. she is 16, even if she looks 12 - that is barely a child anymore.

Now, start thinking for urself, there are solutions everyone can discuss about. Centralized CO² reconversion, strikter rules for meat animal breeding, reafforestation - what also includes the already running economic conflicts with Venezuela and Brazil and reconstruction of the atmosphere (what we already did in the past). If we get these things done right, there is no climate change anymore.

But you will never see that puppet of a poor girl allowed to talk about that because mainstream media has no intention of de-escalation and her funders even less. Only on that very day when they are done with her, she will be allowed to go back to normal and have a life again

So let's hear your position, I'm curious.

I was concerned about these issues before she was born. There is no excuse for claiming ignorance given that climate and pollution have been widely discussed for decades. I'm interested in who you think is manipulating me. Obviously not big industry. Who is this mysterious force that is driving 'mainstream media', which seems to exclude Fox and other right wing outlets. What do they have to gain? I know a lot of powerful people want to destroy trust in journalism so they have full control of public thought. I am far less of a sheep than you imagine.

There are lots of things we could be doing. Changing agricultural policies would be a big start. Burning forests for monoculture is very destructive. We need more trees, not less, and I know the UK has a bad history of this. We also need policies that force industry to be cleaner. That may make some things more expensive, but a lot of those are artificially cheap when you consider the damage done.

Greta may be a little manipulated, but she is obviously smart and less of child than when she started her protests. Meanwhile a man-child is running the US and throwing tantrums because people are mean to him. We need more people who are prepared to speak out about issues that affect everyone.

I am far less of a sheep than you imagine.

You threw the Sheep argument at me, I want a fair discussion, I really do care. But that means we all need to be able to discuss everyone's arguments, disregarding who they are.

Meanwhile a man-child is running the US and throwing tantrums because people are mean to him. We need more people who are prepared to speak out about issues that affect everyone.

That's your President... what should I say, I'm from germany.

Now let's check reality:

  • Making "Burning forests for monoculture" a crime to humanity and threaten half of South America and big part of South East Asia with an invasion if they don't listen.
  • (Disclaimer: I'm not vegan) Limit international meat trading and start limiting national meat production. You call it 'agricultural', it is mainly feeding grains wich are planted. Meat production is that real climate enemy.
  • Tax air pollution and use that money to build air cleaning facilities.
  • Go Back2Nuclear Power to eliminate burning of oil and gas and meanwhile start mass production of solar power plants all over the world. This is real-talk, we can skip the Nuclear part, but that would increase energy prices in such an extreme way, that you'd cast billions of people rioting in the streets.

And all of that on an international level...
I have my doubts that we see the real route already. What would you do?

You mentioned sheep first. I'm British, so not my president either, but his actions still affect us.

I stopped eating meat 25 years ago. I agree with taxing pollution and nuclear should be an option, but it is still incredibly expensive and has waste issues. We need better travel infrastructure so we need to drive less and cheap flights may need to be taxed more. Have incentives to get solar panels or electric cars. We've had those, but they have been reduced recently. Germany has been ahead of most countries on green issues for years. I saw this when I lived there in the late 80s. Individuals can only do so much, but we can influence the political direction. The UK only has one Green MP. We need to improve on that, but Brexit is a counterproductive distraction.

I will keep posting about these issues. I have a range of interests, but we need these discussions here as well.

Bavaria has over half a Million running domestical Solar Systems producing more than 100% of our energy during sunny day hours. Most of them were built in the last 10 years. A lot of People here buy a hybrid car to fuel it by themselves now. The energy price, in the long run, will be between 30-40Cents KW/H for 2020-2030. Sounds not too bad.

here check this out:

That is what you get, People called her out as a public figure making a lot of fuss and not providing solutions or pushing the discussion in the right direction are always getting this super aggressive "BUT SHE'S ONLY A CHILD" smackdown answer. That is not an argument, that is populism and victimization - pushing forword a narrative of guilt and not toxicating the air.

So once more, this Rick and Morty quote that is so important:

Don't be sheep, think for urself!

... and she is 16, that is not a child anyway... and thinks to have a superpower xE

Still on the messenger...
