THREE GRASSHOPPERS FROM A LONG TIME AGO

in Fascinating Insectslast month (edited)

Well, one of them is a bushcricket technically; it belongs to the Tettigoniidae family but bushcrickets are often considered long-horned grasshoppers so the title isn't laying.

All the photographs presented in today's macro-themed shitpost were taken in the summer of 2007. A long time ago is a vague, relative term, it could mean different things for different people and in different contexts but the year 2007 fits that category very well in my book, so since this is my post, yeah, these are all insects from an ancient era when I used a different camera and macro equipment.
In the opening shot, a Tylopsis lilifolia bushcricket is cleaning its feet to keep them adhesive.

(Enlargeable)

This is the Oedipoda caerulescens, a grasshopper from the Acrididae family. The insect is resting on the dry stem of some tall, sturdy herbaceus plant, a Foeniculum vulgare perhaps. There isn't much happening in this shot, but the late afternoon's warm light makes everything look pretty good.

In this similar vertical shot, you can see a Pezotettix giornae grasshopper posing in front of the camera on a hot summer afternoon.

As you probably remember, the post started with a Tylopsis lilifolia bushcricket. The same insect will end the thing. It is the same insect literally, only in a slightly different pose.
Gee, I love this post! I don't like it but I do love it. It didn't cost me much effort, I felt relaxed throughout the writing process, it would be pure perfection if it wasn't too short, uninventive, and quite boring. But you can't have always everything in this blogging business, I guess.

AND THAT'S IT. HOPE YOU UPVOTEING MY STUFF NOT SO MUCH FOR THE QUALITY BUT BECOUSE YOU SOMEHOW ENDED UP LIKING ME WITHOUT KNOWING ME PERSONALLY. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK. WELL, IT WASN'T MUCH WORK BUT STILL, IT WAS SOME KIND OF WORK. A MINIMAL EFFORT BUT AT LEAST IT WASN'T OUTSORCED TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. YOU CAN ALWAYS DO LESS TO GET MORE HERE, FINDING WAYS TO DO IT IS ALSO A TALENT OF SORTS, I GUESS.

What nice photos @borjan, even though they are a bit old the quality is very good, you can see a lot of details in these specimens you photographed. The family Tettigoniidae are one of the most interesting because many of their species have a very high level of camouflage, so they can look like leaves. Good to see that you are still active posting, it seemed strange to see that you had days without posting, I hope all is well, greetings.

Nice to hear from you. 🙂 It's all fairly well but I have less time for online activities.

You sure like it a lot for a shitpost (as you called it)
I found the photography quite good actually, but your spelling was off

are often considered long-horned grasshoppers so the title isn't laying.

Should have been "the title isn't Lying" (as in being untruthful) I think you meant.said the grammar Nazi

The last grasshopper looks like a boss of his own.

Everything well with you Borjan? It’s been 16 days since you last posted.

Yes, some grasshoppers have that confident look. 😃 I'm OK but I have less time for online activities so I'm rarely in the mood for writing something here.

It's a lovely shot. The depth of field is unbelievable. Did you zoom in or you were super close to the insect?

I was very close to the insect ... and I had a good macro lens with which a nice blurred background was easy to achieve.

The photography results of the insects that you have shown have quite good beauty and detail.

Glad to really see you back posting. It has really been a long time I saw your post

Good to see you back. Would love to see more of your photography.

Nice to see your amazing shots again
