Butterflies are flying pearls of nature. Sometimes everyone wants to take pictures of them. It's more civilized fun than catching and pinning them.
Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) is a large day butterfly. It occurs in Europe, Asia and North America. Missing in southern Spain. A rare migrant in the British Isles. The butterfly can be found on forest clearings, paths and intersections. It also flies in gardens. However, it's very shy. It is better to prepare a lens with a large focal length.
The butterfly lives all year round, wintering as an imago in tree cavities, piles of wood or pliers, under overhanging roots, in drainage pipes. In the spring it likes to bask in the sun. One of these is captured in the photography. Last year's model. With damaged wings. Surviving the winter is hard.
Motýli jsou létající perly přírody. Fotografovat je občas zatouží každý. Je to civilizovanější zábava, než je chytat a napichovat na špendlíky.
Babočka osiková (Nymphalis antiopa) je velký denní motýl. Vyskytuje se v Evropě, Asii a v Severní Americe. Chybí v jižním Španělsku. Na Britských ostrovech vzácný migrant. Motýla najdete na lesních mýtinách, cestách a průsecích. Létá i v zahradách. Je však hodně plachý. Proto je vhodnější při-pravit si objektiv s velkou ohniskovou vzdáleností.
Motýl žije celoročně, přezimuje jako imágo v dutinách stromů, hromadách dřeva či klestí, pod převislými kořeny, v drenážních trubkách. Na jaře se rád vyhřívá ve slunečních paprscích. Jeden takový je zachycen na fotografii. Loňský model s poškozenými křídly. Přežít zimu je těžké.
