When I was younger I worked in two vehicle repair shops as a mechanic's assistant. I especially remember the second repair shop because of two incidents that happened to me, one of those memories was as soon as I started the first day.
In the first repair shop where I was, I helped in the injection and intonation part. What I remember most from there was having to remove the spark plugs with the engine hot and in a hurry to serve customers, I know that in many countries they use special gloves for the heat, but here it was with the bare hand.
Another detail that I remember a lot from that first repair shop was the liquid that was used to clean the electronic injectors. It was a very strong liquid and as I mentioned above it was all without gloves, with the passing of the days the hands became insensitive, but starting was hard.
In the end I left that repair shop because I did not receive any payment, I was there with the pretext of learning, really when I entered I wanted to learn it was in the electrical part but the two technicians who were in charge of that section were very bitter and did not want anyone additional in their section. That is why I was in the injection part.

Cuando era más joven trabaje en dos talleres de reparación de vehículos como ayudante del mecánico. Recuerdo especialmente el segundo taller por dos incidentes que me pasaron, uno de esos recuerdos fue apenas inicie el primer día.
En el primer taller mecánico donde estuve ayudaba en la parte de inyección y entonación. Lo que más recuerdo de ahí era el tener que sacar las bujías con el motor caliente y apresurados para atender a los clientes, sé que en muchos países usan guantes especiales para el calor, pero acá era con la mano al desnudo.
Otro detalle que recuerdo mucho de ese primer taller era el líquido que se usaba para limpiar los inyectores electrónicos. Era un líquido muy fuerte y como mencione arriba era todo sin guantes, con el pasar de los días las manos se hacían insensibles, pero iniciando era duro.
Al final dejé ese taller por no recibir paga alguna, estaba ahí con el pretexto de aprender, realmente cuando entré quería aprender era en la parte eléctrica pero los dos técnicos que llevaban esa sección eran muy amargados y no querían a nadie adicional en su sección. Por eso es que estuve en la parte de inyección.

The second repair shop was where I had the worst experiences, although working for free dealing with burns and abrasive liquids is bad enough in itself, this second repair shop is where I have my worst experiences.
It was a repair shop specialized in Renault vehicles, when I entered to work I noticed a heavy atmosphere with the mechanics towards me, but I didn't give it importance thinking that it was just my imagination.
That first day of work, the manager told me, there are the tools and there that vehicle needs to lower the gearbox, you already have it up ready to start removing the screws, start there and when you have it almost ready to go down let me know to help you with the jack and finish taking it down between the two of us.
As best I could, I managed to get most of the screws out, and then I asked for help and managed to finish the job with the assistance of the manager. It is fair to remember that I was a helper, I was not a mechanic and although I managed to solve it was a horrible experience since it was a very complex task for a first day.
El segundo taller fue donde tuve las peores experiencias, aunque trabajar gratis lidiando con quemaduras y líquidos abrasivos ya es bastante malo en sí, en este segundo taller es donde tengo mis peores experiencias.
Era un taller especializado en vehículos Renault, cuando entré a trabajar noté como un ambiente pesado con los mecánicos hacia mi persona, pero no le di importancia pensando que era solo imaginación mía.
Ese primer día de trabajo entrando me dijo el encargado, ahí están las herramientas y allá ese vehículo necesita bajar la caja de cambios, ya lo tienes subido listo para empezar a quitar los tornillos, empieza por ahí y cuando la tengas casi lista para bajar me avisas para ayudarte con el gato y terminar de bajarla entre los dos.
Cómo pude me las arreglé para sacar la mayoría de tornillos, para después pedir ayuda logrando terminar el trabajo con la asistencia del encargado. Es justo recordar que yo era ayudante, no era mecánico y aunque logre solucionar fue una experiencia horrible ya que era tarea muy compleja para un primer día.

The last bad experience I had in that repair shop was having to put a valve cover on without any explanation. I knew it had to be done in a progressive and stable way to have good contact, sealing well and without leaks, but I did too much force and split a corner without realizing it.
Obviously the owner of the vehicle returned within days due to engine problems and that was a huge problem, full of arguments and fights with the manager over that mistake. Again remembering that I came in as a helper and was assigned jobs with little explanation.
I ended up quitting the job and unintentionally talking to the mechanics I ended up discovering the reason for the heavy atmosphere I felt that first day. It turns out that this repair shop only worked from Monday to Friday, but because of my hiring they started to work on Saturdays to produce that extra to have me there.
Maybe that's why the other mechanics never helped me at all, they were bitter about that extra day a week that they were not going to get paid for sure. In the end I was just a problem that made them work more days.
La última mala experiencia que tuve en ese taller fue tener que poner una tapa válvulas sin explicación alguna. Sabía que tenía que hacerse de forma progresiva y estable para que tuviera buen contacto, sellando bien y sin pérdidas, pero hice demasiada fuerza y partí una esquina sin darme cuenta.
Obviamente el dueño del vehículo regresó a los días por problemas con el motor y eso fue un problema enorme, lleno de discusiones y peleas con el encargado por ese error. Una vez más recordando que yo entré como ayudante y se me asignaban trabajos sin apenas explicaciones.
Al final termine renunciando y sin querer conversando con los mecánicos termine descubriendo el porqué de ese ambiente pesado que sentí ese primer día. Resulta que ese taller solo trabajaba de lunes a viernes, pero por mi contratación empezaron a trabajar los sábados para producir ese extra de tenerme ahí.
Quizá por eso es que los otros mecánicos nunca me ayudaron en nada, estaban amargados por ese día extra semanal que de seguro no les iban a pagar. Al final yo solo fui un problema que los hizo trabajar más días.

Si todos los mecánicos aprenden así a los golpes ahora entiendo porque muchas veces los ves adivinando. Que malo de verdad, lo ideal sería que te enseñen de la manera correcta para que después puedas trabajar con confianza y sin supervisión . Buena publicación muestra un lado que a veces no vemos de los talleres. Saludos

Yo tampoco te hubiese querido mucho si me tocara trabajar el fin de semana por ti XD, pero faltan como 2 dedos de frente para entender que no era directamente culpa tuya, con tu historia en estos talleres compruebo, que el trabajo debe ser pagado desde el primer día, porque conlleva a un esfuerzo y una inversión de tiempo.
Eso es lo malo de este país, con el cuento de aprender no quieren pagar. No se valoran lo suficiente el trabajo humilde. Gracias por leer
ese es el error de muchos jefes y encargados piensan que todos nacen aprendidos.

Lamentablemente al final lo deje de lado, ya que en otros talleres era igual que el primero, te aceptaban pero sin paga. Sin remuneración desmotiva muchísimo. Saludos
