Not renowned for their elegance, Gentleman’s clubs appear to be a dying breed. The ‘lock-ins' I used to hear about also seem to be disappearing.
Seedy pole dancing I haven’t come across in years, probably because I no longer look for it, the last time was in the nineties at that American chain, ‘Hooters’ in Phoenix, AZ.
This one certainly has died at a guess... around the year 2012 when some bright spark was paid to burn it down.
As this has already done the rounds and the 'fucking newspapers' have gotten hold of it, I don't mind spilling the beans too much.
I do personally know the particular explorer in the news article and though I am against 'selling out' stories, I am not enough of a bigot to condemn his actions.
Whatever...., I did find this one due to Bearded Reality's YouTube video that was published months ago and it was not hard to track down.
I also knew getting it was a matter of sliding down a slippery large unstable sheet of metal and hoping you were not going to land on your arse due to all the crap and shit lurking at the bottom.
Getting out again is a problem you determine when you want to leave. Live semi-dangerously I say, and think of the consequences later.
Nightclubs are generally black in colour and when burnt even more so. The lower level of this pristine establishment is made up of ‘Chutney Mahal’, the former attached Indian restaurant boasting spices from the orient.
What was it going to be like after 8 years of dust collection?
Take your choices of beer, though Cobra is the dominant one looking at the masses of glasses all stacked up. Not a bad pint if I say so.
Just look at those prices! Chicken Wings at £2.85 followed by Lamb Malai Chops at £7.95 please?
So 'The Derelict North' has been here. Signature's in dust, broken glass and stickers are becoming a thing. Again... whatever!
There are a few exotic plants left, made of real genuine plastic.
You always get that jingly-jingly Indian music in these restaurants, one original DVD and a load of copies. I could tell they were ripoffs despite the copious muck all over them.
That’s @dizzydiscovery looking like a ghostly barman.
There’s even a half pint on the bar, did someone leave it there 12 years ago?
I’m sure it was genuine Indian cuisine, don’t they all say that?
So getting upstairs to Mystique was a little more challenging, but you can’t expect the red carpet to be rolled out.
It was never going to be a show-stopper and climbing over mounds of crap is all part of the fun.
This is the entrance to Mystique. Could you imagine this in its heyday?
A a security log from the days when it was open (2011). Whoever this was checked in when the action began and left when he wanted.
This is where you order your drinks. I am surprised the floor has not caved in. Part of the roof has collapsed and a bit of light was poking through.
Here we have the pole dance where the girls would get their stuff off, and wiggle their boobies for the beady-eyed blokes watching.
The comfortable seating where you would ogle the women wrapping themselves around said pole.
There are some lights and a speaker left, all blackened by the fire damage.
This was a cup of pure orange, now a cup of penicillin.
Capturing the scene can be difficult. The cobwebs, the atmosphere often doesn’t make it into your image.
These cans of Red Bull were sealed and yet empty. How does that happen; Evaporation over the years perhaps?
I didn’t go too far into the toilets, but this image reminded me of Cadburys Dairy Milk. I think it’s the latest colour scheme they are using.
Sadly we had to leave Mystique as there was nothing else to see.
It was a great start to our day even though @dizzydiscovery had to physically shove me up that slippery metal slide by the arse with me grunting and sweating profusely.
The shit we do just to get inside places. One would think we had a screw loose or something?

That looks like some places I have been to that are "opening by the weekend" lol, wow you really do like to live dangerously. I bet you never told @dizzydiscovery you had a Vindaloo the night before as he was shoving you up the metal slide 🤣
If you make it to Halifax on the Saturday are you driving or taking the train?
We were in Halifax last Saturday, 3 locations and all successes, a nice town you have there for wrecked old places! We will be driving.., what time are you kicking off?
I know we have our fair share of cosmetically challenged buildings, once shop off Bull Green roundabout had a car ram raided into it and then set on fire for good measure. And a few empty buildings in walking distance were found to be jam packed with lucious green plants by the Police!
I'm in from 9am but it's turn up when you like, there is loads of on street parking nearby find somewhere to park and ping me by replying to any of my posts and I will come and pick you up. For stealth I'm going to pick people up and drive in with them rather then have people wandering the street outside and waiting to be let in.
I may need a little more of a hint as to where in Halifax, unless it's on one of your posts somewhere.
HX1 5AY - loads of parking around, but to be fair you can park where you fancy in the town as I'm going to come and get you.
That will work, and I hope so. I have had several tickets from the friendly Calderdale wardens from when I worked at Trinity Road (HBOS).
EDIT: Maps shows me lots of yellow lines around this area.
That’s a nice one!
Curry and strippers that’s all a man needs in life
Agreed, cheap curry.. even better!
Cheap strippers !!!
I pet that old chair has some stories to tell. Blech! I wouldn't really consider Hooter's a gentlemen's club. I have seen coaches take their little league teams there after all :)
Hooters was definitely a strip club when I went there and I see it survived all these years. The chicks had to have big tits to work there, I wonder if that requirement has now changed? Discrimination, of the boob size?
Yeah, I think it is quite different now. They still wear the outfits, but there is less of an emphasis on the namesake. I haven't been in probably 10 years though.
The genuine good plastic plants are the only good looking things around this place lol
Could have been a nice spot the prices seem a bit steep for 12 years ago wow. 💯🐒
That dairy milk purple! Great to see Kajol and Preity Zinta on a DVD, good times films.
I could only think of Cadburys choc when I saw that colour combo.
Sheeeeet. That ain't nothin. I've been to worse looking active strip clubs in south carolina!
Seriously though a pretty entertaining urbex adventure you featured here. Looking forward to the next one.
This one was great fun, if they are more challenging to access then all the better. I am definitely getting better at climbing, and you need to be go the places I do. The stuff you do as a boy seemed ever so easy, but now I have a sweat on for the simplest of climbs.
Definitely ought to need gloves in a place like that. A surprising number of intact glasses and a stripper pole! You really know how to find a classy joint.
I bought some gloves specifically for UX but haven't used them once. That's because I keep forgetting to stick them in the car. I could have used them in getting up that metal slope. That was extremely tricky.
I have found beer glasses like that at more than one place, it's surprising they survive all this time.
I would have expected you to have a kit bag, but then that might look like you were equipped for burglary if you got stopped :)
!ENGAGE 20
You have to be careful as some things could be construed as 'burglary gear'. Crowbars are out of the question but I do carry a ladder in the back of the car for those open windows out of reach.

I have to be honest with you, I didn't know what you were talking about and had to google this.

I guess it's this? The can's of Red Bull were full of fresh air, which is a shame as @dizzydiscovery drinks the stuff all the time. Would he have consumed a 12 year old sealed tin...?, you could ask him on Saturday.
Not one I'd found in a dodgy club in regular times.
If it were a genuine apocalypse then yes! Wherever Id found it.
You really are roping em in!
Worth a watch that film btw.

If @dizzydiscovery had his way, we'd be out every day.. he's a UX maniac!.., and after last night's count on 'raw material' I thought I had better start dishing these out more frequently.
And not even the ghost of a stray dancer to entertain!!!
Not even a sign..., I tell you it was fun getting out of there!
The Indians looked like the best bit!
I liked the prices, was stuff so cheap just 8 years ago? It's almost double that now.
It does seem to have accelerated somewhat
