I am back from HiveFest10 - The pre-afterparty ππ Part 3/4
Continuing into the next day, after the DA BAO Pub night...
... BUT before going there, I forgot to mention in the last post...
I did bring some of the recently (+10 years) acquired NZ BEER knowledge and recommended @louis88 and @rivalzzz to taste some "Hazies!" π - The glasses were reversed base64 encryption! π€£

First took a nice coffee at the hotel, and then we all went... to the Location. The GlassHouse!

Right, but I can tell what things happened in my busy time there... because we onboarded two businesses, and even got my first cashback from @distriator (https://cashback.distriator.com).

How crazy is that he had his account name (handler) available, and could create it π€π±π€― basically priceless!
He's a really nice mate with a focus on a brand that he personally designed (sold lots to Hive users at this conference). He even made me a card with my "Forky" handle (might become an NFT in the future LOL, if he approves that right). Wish him the best success!

This was just in the morning... I know that during the rest of the day, more onboarding continued! Which was SO fricking awesome to be a part of. This is the thing that makes the experience all worth it.

I have seen so many people I have interacted with (and sorry if I missed you), conversed with, argued with, and built and taught everything I knew. That day it was a very hard day that I had to go back to bed and wake up the next day to...
The people you know in these places are UNIQUE... and the memories, PRICELESS!
I had to go... I had family waiting for me, people that MAKE me who I am!
I had a hard challenge... Leave the biggest decentralised community back in Malaysia, and go back to the genetic family that I also love. π₯Ή

If I had one of those mining machines in my room and started mining, would it be easy to learn? I imagine I'd need a license and a wallet, and everything would fall into place? And could I mine daily?
Nop, give it another try.
The miners are usually quite simple to run. It's usually an initial setup, and then you forget they exist. As long as they have power (and those on the pictures are very low power, aka won't give you much bitcoin).
They can cost quite a bit... but usually rule of thumb, a big miner (2-5 kW of power) will payoff within 1 or 2 years (not counting electricity). And these low-powered ones will take years.
But it's like anything, if you are up just for the experience and fun, then ignore what I said and just try to get one and go through the experience.
Make sure you buy one from a reputable company, cause there are impostors out there (still) selling stuff that has malware.
Mining was fun in the old days... now it's more like a souvenir thing (for me)...
You can also try the experience digitally... which is totally different, but gets you some picture of how it works.

Or this one https://gomining.com/?ref=7GQN29V that will have a couple of courses where you can learn about crypto mining and win "time" for a free miner to run on another part of the planet. You can win some stuff, but you will need a threshold in order to withdraw.
