Silver September

Wind, Snow, Hot Days

Roller coaster month of September strong signs of seasonal change, windy one day, cold the next, then back to blistering 30 degrees Celsius. Windiest month of the year on average, drawing in gentle rains one day, turning to fire and fury with Zeus god who decides our fate.

Seasons change welcomes return of migrating birds, those living here all year now pairing off two by two, flowers exposing blooms not seen for a year.

Albuca nelsonii currently in flower, wind tolerant, water wise plant not too fussy about our soil on the coastline, makes a pretty show in Spring, a robust bulbous perennial evergreen plant.

Cycad fruit at the moment looking exceptionally happy and healthy.

Yesterday-today-tomorrow flowering shares a gentle perfume on wind.

IMG_0184.JPG

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi with dainty little bell flowers enjoying a shaded spot in a pot.

IMG_0401.JPG

Looking up into the bell one realizes specialist birds, moths or butterflies would enjoy the tasty nectar.

Tabebuia chrysotricha (Yellow tabebuia) small tree that flowers in Spring before growing it's green foliage back again.

IMG_0911.JPG

Sunbird dipping into the trumpet flowers, looks to be the White-breasted sunbird, overcast skies have made photography tricky once again.

IMG_0898.JPG

Flock of White heron in flight at first glance, looking at photographs I would say this is the Sacred Ibis worshiped as the god Thoth apparently preserving the countryside from plagues in bygone days. Birds migrate from North to Southern Africa enjoying rainy season, flying in flocks as can be seen from photography taken yesterday.

IMG_0903.JPG

Sacred ibis (Threskiornis aethiopicus) were most probably moving from one river to the next finding the food they enjoy, being carnivorous probing muddy regions for prey with specialized bills.

IMG_0906.JPG

Last night entertained by what I have tried to identify and closest I have reached is Jana e. eurymas moth in my kitchen around 8cm against handle of knife.

IMG_0909.JPG

Gently removed into the garden to be free to move, hopefully see another generation of this large moth.

Life Today

Humans attempt to plan ahead, this does not always quite work out, much like every other living entity.

Change knocks us with many Reserve Banks upping their loan rates by 75 basis points, making our budget more lean, finding ways to grow rather than accept fate, very bad time to have debt hanging around.

Enjoy the season, enjoy good times, keeping lean times in mind, save when able always keep enjoying what is on offer. We may have a Silver September going for Gold in the hot months of December!

#alwaysaflower features through most the post today for Denise @dswigle long overdue sharing some flowers with you.

Wow. Everything looks so full of life over there... It's amazing that you know by name so many of these plants in the pics.

Oh, and I so miss the days we had 30 degrees Celsius till late evening. Now we have something like 14 and it's quite rainy lately.

Living here 40 years doing my own gardening you tend to give many shortened nicknames which make it easier to double check full latin names later.

Never have enjoyed the hot humid summers here, love the mild winters !LOLZ

Tabebuia chrysotricha (Yellow tabebuia) small tree that flowers in Spring before growing it's green foliage back again.

So cool. That's our national tree! It is so beautiful and yet so weird a tree gets naked to bloom. But such is nature.

There's some awesome photography here. Having the names of the plants is even better to have a look in other pages and pinpoint the species.

The moth looks like something from another dimension and yet it's so beautiful!

The issues with loans and debt are a pain in the rear. Hopefully, it doesn't take from the beauty of this plants and animals.

My 'Yellow Tubular Bell Tree' one of the first definite signs Spring is here. Our sparrows also appear to enjoy nibbling the blooms. Interesting to learn it is your national tree in Venezuela that I did not know.

Flowers I have been promising to post for a long time,so many photographs to enjoy little sections in the garden, one tends to start remembering them by name or nickname.

We have had some enormous moths this year, when they come indoors seeking light I use a brown paper packet and carefully capture to release in the garden, entice future life naturally.

We have watched tough times appear, now first world nations feeling the pinch it will most definitely make our third world countries feel the blow, hopefully debt is not on the table for most as that is where one starts to lose their homes or worse.

Oh, yeah. We call it Araguaney. During April and May you can see a lot of them bloom in roads and hills. A truly awesome view. A poet once referred to this event as The Golden Spring.

I'm glad you took the time to publish then and also that you try keep the moths alive. The photos are amazing! The act of mercy to keep life is heartwarming.

And it was about time the whole pile of garbage was felt everywhere instead of only in our little countries. Hopefully, this shaking of goblal economy will bring forth changes for the good of people.

The Golden Spring sounds romantic description of this amazing little tree.

Big shake up happening worldwide hopefully for the better!

Well, it's not for one tree but rather how all trees of the same kind paint the landscape yellow with their blooming flowers.

Big shake up happening worldwide hopefully for the better!

Keeping my fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

Trumpet flower I didn't the name until now, I like the flower the name fits with how it looks like a trumpet.
Similar weather is over here is cold now, next hour it's hot.

A wonderful evening to you. 🙂

Planted this shortly after moving into our home almost 40 years ago, termites love gnarled bark which I have to watch they don't go too far.

!BEER weather comes and goes, hope not too many lightning storms.

What beautiful shows you have been able to capture, the flowers are really precious.

Some are stunning in their season, we are most fortunate to have change in plant life with definite flowers during different seasons being sub-tropical.

!LUV

Surrounded by such beauty, and having the time to get out and about to enjoy it all, is simply wonderful.
What a strange but stunning moth.

It's funny how many plans just don't materialize. Being able to adjust one's plans and roll with the punches saves so much worrying.
I compare life and all of the curve balls it brings to being on a sailboat without a rudder. The wind will dictate what direction you are headed.

For us, this is the third straight time the Federal Reserve has raised rates 75 basis points. As they try to bring down inflation, many people are hurting. Many people have their retirement tied to their 401ks and have lost thousands as the markets have taken a pretty good hit.
We are doing things a little differently, from driving less to reducing our electricity consumption to avoiding nonessential items when shopping.
The people that I feel bad for are those that were already having a hard time making ends meet.

Tightened our belts happening here, forced to with some youth not able to find employment. Also have our SARB going up 'fighting' inflation, fully expected after the hard lockdowns we encountered, now greater unemployment than previous.

Going on "Sunday Drives" became a thing of the past ages ago. Now save for one or two holiday breaks away in the year is the best we can do for now, who knows what tomorrow brings.

Many live 'hand to mouth', any excess is neatly packed for people into parcels to have something to eat at the very least. New 'middle class' floundering with homes being lost unable to pay, it is truly sad witnessing this massive step in the wrong direction happening once again.

At least we have the ability to tighten our belts, others don't even have that option.
Unemployment is not a problem in the states. Just the opposite is true as many employers just can't find people to fill positions.
Following Covid, many people just don't want to work any longer, especially the younger generation. This could all be resolved if the government would stop giving out free $$$, billions of it. Much of this cash also finds it in the hands of people that aren't in need and that just isn't right.

I'm not sure we are headed in the right direction either.

No words can describe the decay in the past fifteen years here, not the country it was...

Keep positive, you have a home plus land, are able to grow food, a place of tranquil beauty. All the best to you and yours, stay safe.

It can't be easy watching and living in an area that continues to spiral downward with no hope for change in the foreseeable future. Rolling with the punches and still being able to enjoy the good things that your area offers is the only way to go and you seem to be doing just that.

We consider ourselves very fortunate and NEVER take for granted just how blessed we are!

It is heartbreaking watching people destroy randomly rather than put to good use.

Take opportunities to enjoy life whenever presented, always grateful for what we have.

Yeah the rise in rates is making money hard to come by. People were already struggling. We barely were done with the pandemic and now this...

Writing was on the wall with media talk of "Big Reset", still feel there is more to the past two years than what has been revealed yet. No matter we have to face the piper who played the tune and try carry on one day at a time.

Such a report about nature turned out to be excellent, very pleasant.

Thanks for visiting and kind comment, have an awesome day!

Hello dear friend @joanstewart good day
It is very true what you say about enjoying the moment, and as far as possible save for difficult times

What beautiful shots, I appreciate that you share all the information about the name of the plants
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid day

Everything in nature captures ones imagination, how would this look without all the interference of development, or smaller footprint on our world.

Thanks for kind visit and always great support!

The budding of spring is always such a happy place. I almost thought that was a pineapple plant~ :) Everything has a different feeling about it. The beauty and perfume along the walkways surely put a smile on your face.

Nature is waking up. I love how some trees push out flowers and then the leaves later.

Keeping my eyes on the economy, it is all we can do!

Dance of Spring is taking me away again up into the mountains for a week, will miss reading and visiting Hive, not very good internet reception where we go, will feast my eyes on nature alone.

Economy there is not much we mere mortals can do, pay the price of the fathers who went before, try rectify where able. We live with hope and hope alone!

Beautiful photographs and wonderful post @joanstewart

Flowers bring so much joy into our lives and with them the birds and butterflies follow, life is good when you set your sights away from everyday problems.

We have also more colder days and last couple of days we had to switch on heating. It is noticable that during this month the trees turned into yellow and red colours so nothing green anymore. It is colourful but also beauitful. The plants on your photos look still very juicy and colourful, but seeing birds leaving for winter it is noticable that this is an autumn.

We enjoy a yellow/red tinge in some trees during spring, unless we go inland we never see full shades autumn offers. Enjoy the season, I prefer cooler weather!
