DAZED AND CONFUSED . SHOW ME A PHOTO CONTEST ROUND 11 PHOT0 EDIT

in Feathered Friends3 years ago

During the early part of Spring last year, I was sitting at the kitchen table and suddenly there was a THUMP on my front door. My door is all glass and I knew what had made that sound, I had heard it before.

Sure enough I was correct in my assumption, a small brown and gold bird had flown straight into the glass. I saw him sitting there on the porch and thought he had broken his neck. Upon further inspection I noticed he was still breathing, but his eyes were kind of glazed over.
He sat there motionless for several minutes.

Dazed and confused.

My computer has a built in program for editing photographs. It has at least a dozen or so filters, as well as the ability to adjust the clarity, light, size as well , cropping and rotating the picture.

I used a filter called ZEKE, giving the bird brighter feathers. I also used the writing tool to add
the caption.

This one below is the original.

With some other adjustments, to grab more color and clarity, I enhanced the photo, adding to the brightness of the pix.

After several more minutes, I noticed this little guy had not broken his neck, he suddenly stood on his feet, although a little wobbly.

Using the filter again, I enhanced his colors once more.

It was a wonderful feeling to see him fly off again, many of the birds that go after their own reflections in the glass don't make it.

We had a family of Merlins that were around the homestead during the Spring and Summer.

Unfortunately, one of them flew hard into the picture window, by the time I got outside to see him, he was dead. Such a shame, he was a beauty.

Using the same filter, ZEKE, some clarity, and a little light adjustment, as well as a message, this gorgeous bird will be in my collection for all time.

Show me a photo, @nelinoeva, thanks for this fun challenge.

Love our #featheredfriends.

Love, peace and happiness to all of our friends in #hive land.

How great to know he survived. I hear that awful sound occasionally but since I have trees close enough to the house they are prevented from flying very fast into the windows and they are seldom injured. Like yours, simply dazed and confused.

Good day to you @melinda010100.
That was quite a surprise to me when he finally flew off. But I was so relieved. After that big Merlin bit the dust this summer, I did get some stickers for the windows, but I guess the little guy just didn't see them.
Glad that little gold and brown birdie made it, he was so cute.
Have a restful weekend my friend.
Oh by the way, @thebigsweed told me ya wanna stop in to help make some syrup, what time should I pick you up, I'd love the company.😉😁

Nice Post

Well thank you very much, glad you dropped a line.

The bird's eyes are innocent.

I know right, I was glad that little guy made it.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.

How wonderful the little bird did not harm itself. So, sad the merlin died.
The airport near my home got accidents with birds hitting the big windows. They put stickers of birds on them and thus preventing future accidents.

Lovely edits, please don't forget to link you post in the comment section of the contest to be a valid entry.

Good morning @nelinoeva, thanks for the compliment.
I actually do have some stickers on the window and door but I guess they need to be bigger.
Funny story, When my kids come to visit they bring their dogs, total of four.
We had just installed the new glass door, I loved the light. As soon as they arrived and let the dogs go, my daughters dog ran full force into the dag door.
The dog was stunned but the door has never been the same.
😄
Now when the dogs come I put big strips of blue tape all over it.😆

Poor dog. Must be quite a surprise.

Your post is reblogged and upvoted by me. It is a good post. Thank you @farm-mom

Good morning @optimusre, are you new to the blockchain?
Welcome. Thanks for the nice comment.
Much appreciated.

Oops! Poor little guy and he will be alright. Pity about the Merlin though.
Our problem here and elsewhere where we stayed are the electrical security wires that people install around their property fences to deter thieves.
Countless birds now that we saved after they had touched the wires and many also didn't make it.

I had to read this, as it reminded me that your man had sent me a message that I forgot about and I will go a look for it now.
We have power cuts now twice a day and it makes working on the PCs very difficult.
But life goes on and you have a great post here my friend.

It's just so unbelievable to me how people are forced to live with fear.
Just so sad and scary to me. Without power, life gets to be that much tougher.
I don't know how you and your wife do it, but you sure are special.

Fear has become the norm here now for many years my friend.
A severe inequality exists in the country and the masses have become tired of only 10% of the country owning most everything (Mostly white)
So, who can blame a man with 5 or more children, when he goes out to steal in order to feed his family?
And this is not only one man, as there are millions of them with very little education and bleak futures.

We have not been left unscathed, as my phone was taken away from me at gun point and there were a few other incidents, but it has not affected our determinantion to try and change things.

This is why we focus on education at the root of the problem, the children, as hopefully it will result in better futures for them when they become adults.

But such is life and we simply have to endure.

Blessings and !BEER

Wow, I feel like you live in another world. There is so much inequality and hatred in this world it turns my stomach. I believe you are right to put the emphasis on education, gives hope to future generations. I admire your commitment in helping these poor children. God Bless you and yours.

Thank you milady and yes, educarion is indeed the best medicine to improve thids dire situation.
A big problem is that the government has dropped the school pass mark to 30% per subject and children are allowed to skip Maths and Science sublects. According to me this is suicide for the county's economical growth in the future.

I have a good friend who has recently released top qualtity educational materials for the pre-shools in the country and let's hope that when the youngsters reach schooling age, they will be properly prepared.
At papillon we also have an accreditation policy, meaning that all educational efforts that we do must be top quality. We had some university partners in the past and I am aiming to do the same here in the new area soon.

So yes the battle goes on, but we will not lay down.

Blessings also to you guys and thank you for the kind support. !Engage30
