Three cattle egrets (Ardea ibis) and, I believe, a cow and a bull 😄 were the ones responsible for leading me yesterday into that state of deep meditation which photography so often becomes for me. I spoke about it in this post without revealing who the models of this unexpected photo session had been, and even left a riddle for anyone who fancied winning a Hive. But I know few read it there. Understandably so: Who the hell is this @traininglog?! 😄 So, while I was there I thought it would be ideal to bring it here to the #SMaP contest, and now that I have a little more time I set about organising the photos and this publication.
No, this Labrador Retriever does not yet have wings. It is just a photo of the place where I found myself after cycling in a relaxed way, about three kilometres or so. And I was surprised to see that this area is becoming livelier every day. Many stalls selling vegetables and fruit, but also food. It really is a good spot to attract customers since it is an important artery of our city, Vento Avenue.
I found myself slightly obsessed with the electricity poles and tangled wires in the area. The light was simply too beautiful, and I longed to capture it by photographing whatever drew my gaze.
Every so often the egrets would take flight, only to return to be beside their immense friends. And I—carefree—was also very close to them. They were tethered because they were grazing at the roadside, and although I saw that they could easily reach me, I did not mind. They were deeply absorbed in their food, and I… “in mine”.

I have read that this bird was originally native to the humid regions of Africa and tropical and subtropical Asia, as well as southern Spain and Portugal, but it has now spread naturally across the entire planet! I love seeing them; they are always doing their own thing, as we would say here. In fact, they hardly even cared that I was nearby. It made me laugh to see them so close to the mouths of these animals, as if examining them carefully. They take advantage of the chance to feed on the small insects their companions drive them away, and in this way everyone also feels accompanied. It is a beautiful association.
I didn’t manage to take a photo of all three together in the same frame… 😏
Perhaps you can figure out who the third one is. Hahaha… they look so alike, don’t they?

Lo que veo en esa es que el largo del pico respecto a la cabeza no cuadra y la forma abultada de la corona tampoco. Me puede engañar la foto si el ave no estaba enteramente de perfil. También cuán lejos o cerca estabas de ella, puede llegar a confundirnos. Para mi, es una garcita bueyera juvenil. Y ya vi el proyecto jjjjj, estoy preparando algo. Gracias por compartir. It's great that you had time to visit the zoo and were able to photograph these beautiful herons. They are large and beautiful birds to behold.
I love it when they're on the ground and perch on one leg, although I must say that watching them fly is wonderful.

No Abi, the zoo is for later. In the previous contest I said I was going to take photos of the birds there. These photos I took near home. I got on my bike and went to a little stream where there are usually some birds, intending to spend a while there and perhaps get a few shots. However, I didn’t see anything interesting, and what I did see was too far away. So I kept pedalling a bit more, and when I decided to head back home, I came across a cow and a bull tied up right by the roadside, and I saw three Western Cattle Egrets.
