I took some shots of Pied Crows taking off to show you.
I have a love to see how the crows handle their lift offs in the wind, as they are real masters of strong winds. A bit of a hazy morning that thankfully cleared up later and then our sun was shining again.
Come and let me show you some athleticism.
The Pied Crow (Corvus albus) sat on a roof of one of the oldest houses in this area.
He sharply popped up onto a window sill.
Bang! As then took off into the face of the wind.
Here was another one sitting on a high old cork oak tree.
He simply flipped up and was efforlessly lifted by the wind.
Yes, the Pied Crows are experts in the strong winds and many days the skies are empty during the raging winds, except for some crows flying around at high speeds.
I have even seen some of them playing tricks in flight trying to outdo each other with swirls and dives. I am talking here of wind speeds at 60-80 Kmh and it even shakes my nomally steady hands.
Real amazing flyers.

I always wonder how small birds or insects like butterflies can fly in the wind, but when you say the crows fly in such strong winds too, I wonder even more 🤔

Oh they do fly in the strong winds, but they fly low down some at times almost hitting my head 🤣
