A rare opportunity to experience the upbringing of pigeons

The mother of these squabs got an opportunity to do a close shoot. My home was undergoing painting and yesterday was the last day, on which the workers painted the window grill where these squabs are growing. The contractor asked me to engage a person to paint all the grills from the beginning, but since these squabs were new borne, I told him to delay the work as long as he could.

The kids even did not want to disturb them and I asked the contractor if he can send someone later to just paint that window later, he denied. So yesterday, the work was done and the mother of these squabs left them alone for some time. Not sure, if she got disturbed or she felt secure to leave them because a person was nearby.

He wanted to open that sliding door for few minutes to paint and told me that the mother has left them. So I took the opportunity to shoot a close video and some close photographs. As soon as he finished, we told him to close it and the mother was back quickly. May be she was watching it somewhere nearby.

It has been an amazing experience for all of us to see the love between the mother and the squabs. We have now seen few times the mother feeding them by her peak and playing with them - dragging them by holding the peak of the kids. May be that is how they love and play. By the time we go, they just keep quiet. I told the person to clean the other side of the window so that we can take some images without disturbing them, but since the mother came very soon, we did not want to disturb them again. And she is very protective about her kids like every other mother on this universe - the kids are having a nice time watching this process so close.

Aww, this must have been a very special experience indeed :) Btw I´m glad to hear that the mother didn´t abandon them after the worker got so close to the nest, you know, animals do that sometimes when disturbed by humans. In your previous post, I told you that I haven´t seen baby pigeons but I just recalled that many years ago, when we lived in a tall apartment building, a couple of kestrels built a nest very close to our windows and there even were babies in there later on. We used to watch them like this too, although not from such immediate distance. It´s like real life National Geographic :)

It´s like real life National Geographic :)

It will be a memorable event for the kids for sure.

How interesting. Luckily, the mother came back.

Even among animals there is kindness and love between mother and its young, I like pigeons very much

Our house is next to a small yard to which a few pigeons descend, I like to take close-up pictures, but it flies quickly, how can I do it? do you know simple trick

I do remember the pigeons. That must be over a week. There are much bigger already. It so nice to watch animal nature !

Wow these small pigeons are looking very beautiful. If all the people of world have same thoughts like you and your family then their will be no danger for birds and other animals.

It is definitely lovely to see motherly love passed across to their offspring both in humans and animals as well.

Yes, its very exciting for the kids to watch them so close.

Awww! I was so happy when you said the mother came back. It is nice to see people being kind to pigeons. Too often, they are treated as a nuisance.

They are cute , i read in your latest post about them that one of them is dead by crow. So sad. Hopefully the one who is saved is fine .

Yes, the one now is growing well and we are enjoying their company.
