In the dark (2022.09.27)

in Feathered Friends2 years ago (edited)

Nowadays we often turn off the lamp in the house to save money on the electricity costs. Currently we are sitting in a dark room. If you live on a $250 USD per month pension-like income, like me, then everything counts. Even if you choose not to turn on the lamps in the house for the part or for the entirety of the month.

We are all good. Both my brother, my Harris's hawk, and me too. I could not take photos about my brother this time, because today he worked in Budapest. He is still on the way home.

So my brother also have income. He have a pension-like income, and the salary of his periodical job. He does not work every day. He works occasionally.

Our income is obviously still under the local minimum wage. Better to save money on the electricity costs, than on food costs.

The fire (wood) heater and the doors are still not in the house. The owner promised it, so he will put both of these things in the house.

The days (around 19-22 °C) and the nights (around 6-12 °C) are not that cold yet, so we are good. And we have time.

I took these photos using the flash of the camera of my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy A12). I have not edited these photos.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Yes, saving is also a nice habit, we have also a very expensive electric kwh, even we don't need heating we have to pay around $100 a month.

Glad your hawk looks very content with the new house and enjoying in there.

Wish you a great success my friend. Take care

even we don't need heating we have to pay around $100 a month.

$100 USD per month for electricity (without heating) is indeed a lot of money. Many years ago (around 2006) we used 1500 Watts heaters (at least once, but sometimes two or three, when the outside temperature was very cold), and we paid around $122 USD per month. Without heating, we usually paid less than $25 USD per month. So the heating added a lot of difference, using most of the monthly electricity consumption.

Glad your hawk looks very content with the new house and enjoying in there.

We all enjoy and like living in this house.

Wish you a great success my friend. Take care

Thank you. I also wish you many success. All the best.

How much does 1 kilowatt of energy cost? Is it possible to save 1 Hive per day with the lamp off?

How much does 1 kilowatt of energy cost?

This depends. If you consume less than 210 kWh per month, then 36 Hungarian Forint (HUF) ($0.09 USD) per kWh. This is a discounted price. If you consume more than 210 kWh per month, then 70.10 Hungarian Forint (HUF) ($0.17 USD) per kWh.

Is it possible to save 1 Hive per day with the lamp off?

Nowadays 1 Hive is around $0.50 USD. Probably not that much, but it still counts in the end. The house currently has three 100 Watts light bulbs. Usually we turn them off for seven hours per day (three hours in the early morning, and four hours in the evening). This way we save 2.10 kWh ($0.189 USD) per day. Or $0.357 USD per day, if we consume more than 210 kWh per month, but we try not to.

Thanks for the info. I hope my upvotes today will give a few kilowatts of energy)

Thank you so much. They really do. Everything helps. And I am grateful and happy for every help. All the best.
