Todos los días me siento agradecido por tener vida y espero llegar a los 80 con la misma energía y alegría que tiene Goya. Este fin de semana fue de celebración, una fiesta al estilo hawaiano y para ser honesto, jamás se me fuese ocurrido estar ahí. Goya es la mamá de mi amiga Gilí, a quien conocí estudiando pastelería y se ha encargado de hacerme sentir bienvenido en su familia, a tal punto que su mamá dice que me adoptó jajaja. Lo cierto es que para mí es bonito poder compartir con Gili y toda su familia y más en eventos como este.
Every day I am grateful to have life and I hope to reach 80 with the same energy and joy that Goya has. This weekend was a celebration, a Hawaiian style party and to be honest, I would never have thought of being there. Goya is my friend Gilí's mom, who I met studying baking and she has made me feel welcome in her family, to the point that her mom says she adopted me hahaha. The truth is that for me it is nice to be able to share with Gili and all her family and more in events like this.
Si bien disfrutamos la música, el lugar y por supuesto compartir con la cumpleañera, pasamos bastante tiempo en la cocina. Hablo en plural, porque coincidimos en la fiesta, un grupo de amigos que juntos estudiamos para chef y, por su puesto, nos encanta compartir en la cocina y terminamos armando la fiesta. En realidad, más que coincidir, ya sabíamos que nos veríamos y cada uno se encargó de preparar ciertos alimentos, porque nuestra querida Goya decía que sus hijos chef estaban a cargo y quería cosas específicos de cada uno.
While we enjoyed the music, the place and of course sharing with the birthday girl, we spent a lot of time in the kitchen. I speak in plural, because we coincided at the party, a group of friends who together are studying to be chefs and, of course, we love to share in the kitchen and we ended up putting together the party. Actually, more than coinciding, we already knew that we would see each other and each of us was in charge of preparing certain foods, because our dear Goya said that her chef children were in charge and she wanted specific things from each of us.
Goya disfrutó muchísimo, sobre todo cuándo llegaron los mariachis. A pesar de su edad, bailó seguido todo el tiempo que estuvieron los mariachis y su felicidad era contagiosa. La Sra. Goya me presentó a muchas personas ese día y pude darme cuenta de que algunas de esas personas las tenía tiempo sin ver y eso me hizo reflexionar. A veces estamos ocupados en la vida con cosas, que el tiempo pasa y poco a poco dejamos de lado lo bonito de compartir con los amigos y la familia.
Goya enjoyed herself very much, especially when the mariachis arrived. In spite of her age, she danced often the whole time the mariachis were there and her happiness was contagious. Ms. Goya introduced me to many people that day and I realized that some of those people I had not seen for a long time and that gave me pause for thought. Sometimes we are so busy in life that time goes by and little by little we leave aside the beauty of sharing with friends and family.
Quizás lo que voy a escribir se leerá dramático, pero yo no sé si esta fiesta fue el último compartir que tuve con personas que aprecio. La vida tiene sus misterios y yo no sé si mañana estoy en otro país o incluso deje este mundo, y esto mismo puede pasar con mis amigos. Yo prefiero dejar o llevarme buenos recuerdos a luego lamentarme por no darme el tiempo suficiente para poder celebrar la vida con las personas que quiero. Estos casi 7 meses sufriendo por la columna, me han enseñado a valorar más la importancia de los momentos sociales.
Maybe what I am about to write will read dramatic, but I don't know if this party was the last time I shared with people I appreciate. Life has its mysteries and I don't know if tomorrow I will be in another country or even leave this world, and the same can happen with my friends. I prefer to leave or take good memories with me than later regret not giving me enough time to celebrate life with the people I love. These almost 7 months suffering from the spine have taught me to value more the importance of social moments.
Volviendo a la fiesta, y por su puesto a la cocina, para la cena, se dio de comer shawarmas. Pan árabe, se colocaron una salsa de garbanzos y una salsa de berenjenas rostizadas, ensalada y pollo. Las personas felices con sus shawarmas, las salsas quedaron muy buenas y eso hizo resaltar todos los sabores y texturas en esta comida. Se prepararon también mini brownies, dulce de leche, galletas, shots dulces de maracuyá, higo, chocolate y limón. También se prepararon tequeños, mini pizzas, pastelitos y tostadas de pan con salsas de ajo porro, salsa de pollo y un antipasto de vegetales. Hay muchas cosas más, pero lo importante es que todos quedaron encantados con la comida.
Back to the party, and of course to the kitchen, for dinner, shawarmas were served. Arabian bread, chickpea sauce and roasted eggplant sauce, salad and chicken. People were happy with their shawarmas, the sauces were very good and it brought out all the flavors and textures in this meal. Mini brownies, dulce de leche, cookies, sweet shots of passion fruit, fig, chocolate and lemon were also prepared. We also prepared tequeños, mini pizzas, cupcakes and toasted bread with garlic sauces, chicken sauce and a vegetable antipasto. There are many more things, but the important thing is that everyone was delighted with the food.
Ya al momento de cantarle el cumpleaños a Goya, se tenían preparadas dos bandejas de torta fría con fresas y duraznos, por su puesto para cerrar con broche de oro, luego de toda la comida salada y el calor que hacía. Yo contento porque todo salió bien y tuve la oportunidad de compartir con amigos y seguir generando recuerdos que me acompañaran toda la vida y más allá. Nunca pierdas una oportunidad de compartir con amigos y familiares, por más rutinario que parezca o por más sencillo que luzca todo. Si bien yo estaba cansado y con algunos problemas de salud, que perfectamente podían ser una excusa para no ir a la fiesta, agradezco haber actuado.
When it was time to sing Goya's birthday, two trays of cold cake with strawberries and peaches were prepared, of course, to close with a flourish, after all the salty food and the hot weather. I was happy because everything went well and I had the opportunity to share with friends and continue making memories that will stay with me for life and beyond. Never miss an opportunity to share with friends and family, no matter how routine it may seem or how simple it may seem. Even though I was tired and had some health problems, which could have been an excuse not to go to the party, I am thankful that I performed.
