Memories from Denmark: The Esberg Marine Museum

This is a wonderful museum I have had the joy to visit when I was in Denmark. I remember being a very rainy day, with small flashes of sunlight.
The Fisheries and Maritime Museum in Esbjerg also called in danish og Sofartsmuseet) is a privately owned museum opened to the public in 1968. It has a saltwater aquarium , a sealarium ( I missed the show when I went) and indoor and outdoor exhibitions of danish fisheries. The museum is located at Tarphagevej 2, 6710 Esbjerg V, 4 km northwest of the centre of Esbjerg and it is open everyday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

There were three things that I loved about this museum: the jellyfishes, the stories of the fishermen and the little whirpool of sardines. I love sea life and watching how a jellyfish is elegantly moving in the water can capture my attention for hours.

I also enjoyed to find out how petrol is being extracted and I gained a new level of appreciation for those working in this industry. Man, that is hardcore work right there!

I was also amazed by the turbine industry presented, by the capacity of the array cables used to connect each turbine with the others in an offshore wind power turbine farm. I mean...look at my hand and look at that cable....

It is fascinating to know that the electricity used in Denmark comes from wind power turbines mainly, power stations and solar cells.

The portraits taken of the fishermen caught my eye. Their stories. Their hands that tell the years of hardship.

Black and white portraits are my favourite. Their tattoos.

I took my time to read their confessions as I believe that we should never forget the old ways, the backbreaking jobs that put food on the table for so many generations. This is still a source of living for some even in 2023 throughout the world.

It is worth paying a visit to this museum. Especially if you are a romanian aquarius woman adventuring in Denmark for a short while as I were in 2022

I wrote my name in the sand as I was pursuing my dream....it feels nice to look back at precious memories.

It has been long since I saw Jellyfishes
I hope to see them soon again
And your pictures are amazing

They are really beautiful, I enjoy watching them move so elegantly through the water. Thank you for reading my post😁

I love this post, especially the pictures, one of the pictures looks like an aquarium.

There was an indoor aquarium where small sharks and fishes were swimming. There was also a place where one could sit and enjoy the view. I remember taking a seat and really immersingy eyes into the relaxing view. Thank you for reading my post🙂
