Adam Curry, the Podfather, the co-inventor of the tech stack which still runs podcasting to this day, is talking about the background notification system I architected and built on top of Hive. The system is called @podping.
I was funded by the DHF for that which I am hugely grateful. We're working on a new release right now which adds Live notifications. All of this is becoming the plumbing of the internet,

👏🏻 Will enjoy this over the weekend! Podping is really an innovation and a masterpiece. Fingers crossed one of the big techs (iTunes, Spotify) adapts it in the future.
They big question is how will we know if they do? I am not sure it will be evident since it is just reading what the blockchain puts out.
Perhaps @brianoflondon has a way of viewing that information.

Good point! But won‘t they need kind of a registration to use podping? Or a technical support to set it up? 🤔
I believe the software is open source and they only need to copy the code and run it. That is what I understand is the "magic" to podping. Any of these web applications can utilize it very easily.

Ah ok. @brianoflondon is that correct? We would not necessarily get to know it if someone like Apple or Spotify starts to use Podping? So we could not even do a Little drumming 🥁 for Hive, could we? 😟
He might be able to tell by the number of hits the server gets or something like that.
He will be on #CryptoManiacs tomorrow so I will try to remember to ask him if he doesnt cover it.

Like Dan and Matt of 3Speak keep saying, it is a great part of the story.
We can keep telling others how these projects are community financed.
That is big in a world where VCs still wield a ton of power.

It is great that you are putting Hive at the center of a major industry. You are right, the plumbing of the new internet is being laid and we are right at the center of it.

I think podping is a good technology as it can reduces the time to update a podcast more quicker. I use rss feeds alot but I never knew about this until now. you learn something new all the time. You can receive pingback http requests in the rss xml feed. Wow it sounds simple but it's still innovative !
