Calories, the Biggest Lie In Nutrition. We need to abolish this word when discussing health

WhiteHouseFlag.jpeg

One of the biggest structural flaws in nutritional science is calories.

Calories is a stupid measurement for humans to measure for what they eat.
It literally is, how much heat you can get out of a sample.

Wood has a lot of calories. As anyone sitting in front of a fireplace can tell.
However, wood has almost no nutritional benefit for a human.
Thus a calorie, at best, is a poor measurement of food a body needs.

In the current paradigm of nutrition, a calorie is a calorie.
This is the biggest lie. It is the lie that BigFood hides behind when selling poison, packaged as food in grocery stores.

This lie needs to stop.
It is actually killing people.

Calories are Calories

When we reduce the nutritional value of something to a single number, it is convenient, but it also become unuseful.

We can compare a stick of wood to a stick of celery. The wood has lots of calories. The celery has almost no calories. But which one is more nutritious?

A hamburger patty, one made from from fresh hamburger in your kitchen, or one from McDs which was pressed, cooked, frozen, thawed, fried on each side and then nuked until it has no life left in it, which one is more nutritious? They both have the same calories.

A steak will fill you up and give you a lot of energy through the day. The same amount of calories of chocolate bar will probably make you sick, and a sugar high, followed by a sugar crash.

However, most of the diets and nutrition guides talk about eating a certain amount of calories.
There is no distinguishing between calories. A calorie is a calorie.
It is all about calories in and calories out.

And this is the lie.

BigFood is poisoning you

Our obesity epidemic is not really from eating too many calories and too little exercise.

It is from eating "food" that is not food.
The McDs burger may have calories, but it doesn't have much nutrition.
Worse, it has a lot of addictive things in it. Sugar, gluten and chemical tastes.

So, your body is starving. You stomach says it is full. The addictions says you want more.

Worse, these "foods" gum up your digestive system. A double whammy.

Your body goes into emergency mode. Saving every bit of energy into fat cells. Slows down the metabolism.
Plus, it puts all the bad things that the body cannot use into fat cells, plumping them up. Taking up room that could have been used for some kind of energy, but instead, it is something that will have to be cleaned out later. Difficult to clean out, and it will probably make you sick when all the toxins are released at once.

The calorie, the unit of measure of nutrition by the FDA, is at the heart of all these problems.

If we didn't have this misleading guideline, we would be much better able to tell what is good for us to eat. Or if it was completely missing, then we would know to look for information elsewhere.

The calorie lie also hides how little we actually know about nutrition.

We used to believe that food was medicine.
Now we believe pills are medicine.
There is nothing that affects the body that is not already found in foods.
As in, our body has receptors and processes that deal with these items.

It is about time we get rid of the word "calorie" when talking about nutrition, and send it back to science where it is simply a measure of heat.

This lie is needs to stop. It is really killing people.

The measurement of Calories in the context of nutrition, used in the correct way, are not a problem. They simply relate a reference of the potential energy in the material. If people are being taught that it's calories and only calories that are important in nutrition, then obviously they are being misled - however, in several decades of paying attention to the topic and meeting a few 'experts' along the way.. I've never heard anyone saying that - except maybe for marketing material from 'diet companies'.

I do ignore, though, the mainstream media and talking heads - so there may well be a normalised approach to this is that is super dumbed down, but that I never hear. It is also definitely true that, in general, the real depth of information available on nutrition is not usually discussed unless people seek it out or make it their career.

A lot of this actually stems from farmers who either through stupidity/ignorance, denial or greed - simply pay no attention at all to the real spread of nutrients that their produce needs to contain and so never market it on the basis of it's nutritional content. Some of them probably do this because they agree to do so with the supermarkets, who know that they make the most profit from people being in denial and sick as a result. Some of them simply don't know any better.

Ultimately though, it's the 'eaters' of the world who have the power here.. Unfortunately, their lack of minerals has led to a low IQ and an inability to trace the sources of their power loss.

and BigFood
and the FDA... have you seen their new recommendations?
Children's cold cereals are rated higher than everything in nutrition.

I was hoping that it was a BabylonBee spoof, but it was not.

But yes, most real nutritionists don't use calories, unless it is like,
1000 calories of protein (beef, lamb, chicken) when discussing body building diet.

If you constrain it to a very specific food group/category, than comparing calories between them is just one metric.

But when comparing the calories of 1 soft drink to 1 bag of chips to 1 sandwich... there is no real comparison.

It has to be done in conjunction with awareness on the micro and macro nutrients, yes.. otherwise it's like determining the top 10 music charts based on nothing other than loudness.

Do you have a link to the FDA document? It sounds enlightening.. lol

This is the chart

Here source? https://osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/eu578/

I'm calling bs on the chocolate covered almonds being so much more safe than almond m and m's, which must be nearly identical.

I'm a bit confused as that paper is a criticism of the 'Food Compass' system developed at Tufts.. so it's different university people criticising another university's work.. I don't see a reference to the FDA at all.

yeah, i am not finding the original. But that is the original graphic

Hm yeah I remember that source coming directly from the top as well.

This is one of the reasons education has been degraded to be the actual opposite of educational, and is pure indoctrination today. It is becoming unnecessary to be able to read, write, or understand basic math to graduate from secondary school, and graduates of such schools will not be able to understand any of this very important information for their very survival in the modern world.

The chart you post is malicious disinformation. It is ridiculous to claim a bowl of frosted mini-wheats is three times better than an egg fried in butter. That is mirror world level of reversal. I can see why you first thought it was parody, because it would be funny - except that people are told these lies by authority figures and are dying as a result of their complete misunderstanding of nutrition that is deliberately inflicted thereby.

It really is criminal to so harmfully mislead people while acting from a position of authority, an example of laws being the crimes in a tyranny that treats free and sovereign people as slaves.

Excellent discussion of nutrition relevant to our hyper-propagandized people in the developed world. I hope your specific examples of how wood and food are considered in terms of calories and nutrition are able to pierce the veil of cognitive dissonance that blind so many to the facts regarding processed food and natural nutrition.

Thanks!

I've still yet to write my sarcastic post titled "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!"
This one reminds me of my own backburner post.

Of course "Break Fast" is the most important meal. One should not break their fast just eating any old thing. You need to be gentle to your body.

But seriously, American breakfast is really weird, both the timing and what we eat. The eggs and toast and juice are all concocted.

Will look forward to reading your post.

We need to rethink everything we've been told about medicine, diet or health for the past 100 or more years. I'm chucking it ALL out and using the evidence of my own eyes and the knowledge in my own heart to decide what is true regarding health.

I wish i could say, "no, stop, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater", but i agree, throw out everything.

Finding a nutrition book written during the war of independence might serve you better.

Seed oils shouldn't be allowed to be in stores.
HFC is an abomination.

Statins kill more than they help
Cholesterol is there when the body (blood vessels) need to heal. We don't go to the doctor and they tell you "your scab count is too high"

Fortunately herbologists have maintained a lot of old knowledge.

May BigPharma and BigFood die the death they deserve.

Worth a look at nature!
A cat and a bird know what kind of blade of grass they should eat, even before they feel unwell.
once we knew too!
I noticed a long time ago that in stores they offer us feed, but not food!

There is a good rule to follow: I do not eat anything that is not cooked by myself(or my loved ones).

Thank you!

Sugar not only kills us slowly, but it dulls our taste buds.
Artificial flavors make us unaware of what is good for us / what our body needs right now.

So, indeed, although i remember good times as child going to restaurant.
It gets harder and harder to go to those kinds of places.
My food is better for me.

Great post. I always wondered how companies can feed such food and feel as if they are doing a good job. It’s really a shame. !ALIVE !PIZZA

Then you get into the question, is it evil or stupidity.... or both?
Because, we have all seen "Supersize Me". They have to know... right?

Of course, they know. It’s evil because it’s for the love of $$. However, for the people still believing it’s good and healthy, i would guess selective ignorance. Really no excuse.

Yes, getting them some of that root. I didn't think of the actual definition of evil when looking at this. Makes it much clearer now, thanks.
