A poncho can serve as a raincoat, bivy sack and shelter. I've used mine in heavy rain, snow, ice and wind storms.

You can use poncho for collecting rain water as well, simply stretch it out between poles/trees(all 4 corners) and use hood as your lowest point....the water will be dripping right there......

That's a sweet setup. I love camping and this would be great for that but I don't know if I could do it every day. I think that I would probably just find a nice place and start building a house underground or something. Something the government would have a hard time burning down on me.
