Are We At Our Breaking Point? More Hostile & Volatile Days Still To Come

I may only be 51 years old, but I have never heard my parents talk about trying days as we are enduring right now. And they lived through the Detroit riots just a few months before I was born. My parents are in their mid-70s and have NOT left their little townhouse since March 18. They have been fortunate that my son lives fairly close and has been doing shopping trips to their door and picking up my dad's heart medications for them. But some elderly (at high risk) people do not have that luxury.

Yesterday our governor lifted our shelter-in-place order which was set to expire on June 12. To say I am relieved? Not really. I still know the virus is out there. I still won't leave my homestead unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. I still won't go eat in a restaurant. I will NOT be going to a casino ANY time soon. And I won't be going to a public swimming pool. Haircut needed? Manicure or pedicure needed here? I have a cosmetology license to do that for myself and Mr Golden D. No worries.

I am quite content staying home... even without a governor's executive order.

We Are Barely Out Of The CoVid-19 Woods... And Now... THIS?

All across the country, even in my state, are protests; which I am perfectly fine with. I am a huge proponent of the First Amendment. While I have never participated in a protest, I do appreciate people that do who voice their concerns, beliefs and stand by their values.

And I am 100% behind swift justice, fair justice and a trial by his peers (if even possible) for the police officer being charged with the murder of George Floyd. Incidents as this should NEVER be a top headline news story. They should never happen. These senseless manslaughters should be in our past. Long ago ceasing and never to be repeated.

But what we are seeing here in the USA, is not always as it seems. These peaceful protests are just that... from 6am until curfew. It's after the curfews that these protests turn dark and ominous.

Peaceful daytime protest in Detroit on June 1 2020 (above)

But if you read the article, you find the Detroit Police Chief James Craig being quoted as saying:

one officer is still out of work recovering after being struck by a boulder on Friday. Another officer's shoulder was injured by projectiles and a third has a knee injury that will require surgery

Does this sound peaceful?

Peaceful protest do not result in surgeries.

To burn, loot, vandalize and other evil acts upon businesses, homes and people is sickening. I have watched very limited news coverage of these riots (yes, I said riots because breaking the law is now in play) because it is heart breaking and only malicious people with no soul, no integrity, absolutely no moral compass or value for other people and other's belongings would act this way.

I told Mr Golden D that if my children EVER displayed such heinous behavior, that I would kick their a$$e$ and make them apologize, turn themselves into police and replace EVERY single item ruined.

How were these rioters raised? Who oversaw their upbringing? What are their own family members thinking if they see their offspring on national TV news broadcasts?

I told Mr Golden d over the weekend that I would NOT be surprised if some political person, whether governor or President Trump, puts Stafford Act into place...

The Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act is a 1988 United States federal law designed to bring an orderly and systematic means of federal natural disaster assistance for state and local governments in carrying out their responsibilities to aid citizens

Or even martial law:

Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civil functions or suspension of civil law by a government, especially in response to a temporary emergency where civil forces are overwhelmed, or in an occupied territory

These are definitely scary times right now in the USA.

Don't Allow MSM To Steer The Talking Points & Narrative

Mr Golden D shared this image with me last night and I am appalled!
HOW DARE a national news organization use this apocalyptic movie scene to show a narrative! with their own title being "Curfews Imposed Across US As Protesters Hit The Streets".

If that were truly the "scene" from protesters, then I suppose it's time the news organizations refrain from calling these gatherings as protests, and start calling them for what they really are... RIOTS!

While I rarely write such a post, it has been on my mind, as well as everyone else's I'm sure, for quite some time.

I'm not looking for debate here, I am just following the advice given to me by my father decades ago to let things go. Have you say. Let it out. Then you can move on. Give your worries to God; he can handle them.

He (my dad) also said... "make a bridge... and get over it" for more light-hearted moments in life.

I really feel bad for what's happening there right now. It's okay to protest but looting and destroying businesses has gone too far. I hope and pray that it will be resolved soon. Take care always and have a great day!

Just so everyone knows that image is fake. It is a twitter "joke" put out over the weekend. Don't get me wrong I have no love for the MSM and the propaganda machine they represent but we must stick with the truth.

Thank you for clarifying that!!! I was sickened when I saw it and thought, "how can anyone justify that!"

Well written @goldendawne. I have lived almost 2 decades longer than you, but I can also say I have never witnessed a time like this. Sensational news sells as does exaggerated stories. Times are frightening, but we can not live our lives in fear that paralyzes us. Have trust in our Creator.

Oh yes! I can remember your posts and writings about what has happened where you live. It is definitely traumatic on many levels.

I have a lot to say about the crap happening right now but I am keeping it to myself as it would hurt my feelings of the sheeple around nowadays!
I have enough negative in my life at this point and time. I am trying to just do me and mine and get it done.

it is good to get it out and move on but I do not think that would be the end of it if I started sharing my views on this crap we are seeing right now in the U.S. I will leave it at that! Have a great day and be safe!

I understand your feelings. My hubby works with guys in his shop and they are always voicing their opinions and thoughts; then he comes home to relay to me what they've said. There is a lot of hostility, anger and fear among the masses right now- which is understandable. But being able to control those reactions and thoughts is necessary right now.

Hope ALL is well with you and your health (knee)!

The knee is doing ok as long as I do not kneel down on it or it will dislocate and that means another surgery! Just one day at a time.

I have a lot of anger about what is happening with these riots right now and with other things happening in other facets of my life. I would say some of it I guess would be shock at how stupid and blind people can really be. I would have to say common sense is not so common anymore.

I hope you and your family are doing well. Best wishes to you!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Sadly over my lifetime I have witnessed uprising, looting, bombing, protesters brandishing panga's (machetes) and sticks. Crowds can start out peaceful and end up rampaging in no time at all.

Sporadic outbursts happen when one person steps out of line, especially when it is an individual who is paid to look after citizens.

Our world is over populated, too many injustices done to some, everyone has a breaking point (always play devils advocate). Life is confusing and frustrating enough without bullies hurting people for no apparent reason.

Well said! When a crowd gets together... sometimes all it takes is on person to say one thing and it can spar negativity.

Criminal element always know when to switch mood!

Maybe you can refresh my memory (because perhaps I'm ignorant and lacking historical perspective... maybe) but what substantial changes, as far as the targeting of people of color, were won by "peaceful protests". Enlighten me because I'm sure that if you thought to post this, you've actually given it a lot of deep thought. Right?

I didn't write this post for arguing (racial bias, police violence on minorities, etc), but to distinguish between peaceful protesting versus rioting; especially when there has been a horrendous crime in this manner.

But if you are stating that I am not looking to police brutality as being considered into a factor of targeting people of color, then I would state back to you that police brutality isn't always about race... back in 2017 when a police officer (of Muslim descent) killed an American Australian woman Justine Damond. People there, also in Minnesota, organized a peaceful protest (with no rioting done during the investigation or trial of the officer).
In the above link to the article it is quoted as:

A few hundred people marched through Minneapolis on Thursday in honor of Damond, but the friends, neighbors and community members in attendance said the march also was about seeking justice for all people effected by police violence.
The event began where Damond, who had called police Saturday to report a possible sexual assault, was fatally shot by a Minneapolis police officer. According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, officer Mohammad Noor shot from the passenger seat of his squad car, past his partner, killing Damond
Not only did Damond's friends and neighbors attend Thursday's rally, but members of Black Lives Matter Twin Cities and the Minneapolis NAACP participated as well

So these groups (BLM, friends and family of Damond) were there and protested police brutality in peace. There were no riots. The people who are out AFTER curfews are not there to solely protest the death of Floyd, they are there to be malicious, unruly and break laws.

See, you're not answering the question I put to you. In fact, what you've essentially done here is answer to a claim I didn't make. I can't defend a position I don't hold. Maybe read my comment again!?

what substantial changes, as far as the targeting of people of color, were won by "peaceful protests"

If this is your question, then I would have to look to MLK and his peaceful marches, protests and speeches. He attempted to do this, but how successful was he?
Political figures have tried to quell this situation, bring it to a stop... but no major changes. And again, I do not want to make this racial. Even laws being passed for police reform, etc seem to fall flat.

No matter what race a person is... there is FAR TOO MUCH crime in our country (I cannot speak for other countries).

And now I have to ask back to you... what positive things, changes or revolutionary epiphanies have come from all these current, or past, riots? Do the people out in our streets and cities looting, stealing, burning buildings, attacking innocent bystanders or business owners, vandalizing, etc make things better for what it is they are so-called protesting?

To read the civil rights actions of that era as the results of MLK is rather myopic. It seems you're being selective about what actually happened.

What about Malcolm X?
what about James Baldwin?
What about the Black Panthers?
What about Huey P Newton?

They didn't believe in the necessity of peaceful protest and they had a massive impact, especially the latter two. And a lot of people seem to conveniently forget that while MLK was alive riots happened, more so after his assassination. And significant change came after that. One can reasonably argue that the social unrest put a fire under the US govt of the time. But it wasn't enough.

One other example outside the US is South Africa. The changes gained were not a result of peaceful protest or a romanticized Nelson Mandela walking out of prison holding hands with FW de Klerk. That's political mythology accepted as history. the truth is that a protract action by students and exiled resistance using some violent methodologies forced that state into progressive action,

As for the stats image, a link to the source would be pretty cool. I don't know what the context of that data is and what is the best way to read it.

I gobbled up every word of this one. Criminals on the streets and the most shameless media I've seen in 47 years of life. It's as disgusting as the behavior of the looters. Lying to make money.

And if you don't mind, I'm gonna borrow that last saying by your dad. It will be perfect for my kids to wrap their heads around. 🤣

I'm gonna borrow that last saying by your dad. It will be perfect for my kids to wrap their heads around

ABSOLUTELY! My dad is always coming up with great analogies and sayings.
