For the last week many loads of firewood have been brought out of the forest and used in my wood furnace. Usually a few loads a day, this machine hauls great. And so far no issues at all. Driving it is a blast and I always enjoy going out to find and collect more firewood. We have had lots of cold weather, but staying on the move collecting it all its not so bad.
Wood you believe all of this is possible with such a small vehicle? lol. Well I am really impressed by its abilities. And I have not even hooked up a trailer to it yet, but that is coming soon as it can haul well over 2000 pounds.
Stacking the wood helps to fit more in. when I have a bunch of cut pieces this is pretty easy.
These are medium sized pieces of firewood. But I need both larger and smaller pieces as well.
Glad to have those rails on the sides, lets me carry much more than I could otherwise.
Found another dead tree, it will burn good.
Goes pretty far back, I just cut it up and bring it back to the wood furnace.
Backing up to the pile its on a hill but still works out well.
Soon I have some of the larger logs loaded up, since i am on a hill I leave the tailgate closed so they do not fall out when I start driving.. lol I need to start using some cord to secure them.
Soon I have cut up about half that tree, and with a little bit more to do.
While cutting up that log I found another dead tree, that one is next on my list.
We can see the electric cart, I turn the wheel just in case the brakes do not work or something.. you never know.
With two loads brought over I go back for more.
Takes time to build up a good pile, but that is fine.. keeps be busy during the winter.
I add some logs directly to the furnace, others go in the pile.
Cleaning out the furnace is something we do every day, and it generates lots of ash. I bucket it up and spread it out around the homestead.
One place we use it is where ice can be a problem, by the entry to the workshop.
Hopefully it will keep the ice from forming next time.
Sometimes I just take up the big pieces to cut up by the homestead. Other times I do it on the spot using cordless tools.
Not so well stacked, sometimes I just throw it all in.
The gravel on the forest road is holding up quite nicely as well. Driving on it with no issues.
Another load for the wood furnace. This stuff is a mix of small and large logs and sticks.. all good for burning.
The really small stuff is good for starting a fire, and the larger stuff is good to keep it going.
Another dead tree cut down, will make for good firewood. Large pieces that burn all night long when its cold.
I cut up the smaller pieces using a sawzall, and the larger ones are cut up using a gas chainsaw.
Luckily this load is only a few feet away from the furnace.. short drive.
All the dead trees burn well as they are already dry.
I cannot see out the back window very well when its full, glad to have that backup camera.
Hah.. just driving forward no backing up for the moment.
That headache rack is nice to have as well. Protects the back window from big logs.
Another day, another pile of wood.. ever changing and slowing going through it all.
Really thankful to have this UTV, I have charged it up twice now. Both times using only the solar power.
Having the right tools for the job really helps out, using my cordless saw along with lobbers makes good work of most of the trees. Some we may need the chainsaw for, but most can be cut just using this cordless sawzall.
To be honest, I really like your car. It looks like it works very well.Your thoughts were correct. This way you can store your fuel well. have a nice day 😍
thanks, it is a pretty cool machine... Hope you do too
@solominer a small an useful truck for field work, very practical and does not get in the way with is size.
Yeah I am liking it a lot.. been a month or so with it and its real nice.
Hi. Hows the garlic doing that you were growing ? I looked for the wild garlic the last time i went for firewood but its hasn't started to grow yet. Ill try get you a photo at somepoint.
Our garlic in the small fenced in area has gone dormant, but I hope it will wake up soon enough and grow.
Good evening my brother
I am amazed by the small car, although its size is small but its benefits are very big, of course it helps you a lot.
And it seems that you are a hard worker, and I also often collect firewood to boil hot water, everything goes smoothly, it is really amazing, have a nice day my brother.
I do enjoy going out and collecting the firewood, hope you do too.
Wow, it's very interesting, my friend believes that the car can carry wood according to the load, the beauty of the forest when cutting wood is very beautiful, and I hope it goes smoothly, my friend ❤️
Thanks much, it can be quite a bit of fun going out and getting the firewood.
You're welcome my friend, have a nice day,
You've got a bit of a green thumb so you likely know this, but some of my best tomato beds get a little wood ash and charcoal mixed into them every spring. The word potash, is derived from pot ash.
Moderation is probably key unless you have well drained soil, salts can build up - and the ash can unfavorably change the PH.
haha yeah...
Nice, yeah I will probably save some and use them on some of the plants next spring/summer.
Do you ever put wood ash from the furnace around your trees? It is good for plants and trees. You can Google how much to use and which plants not to use it on. It helps raise the pH factor in the soil.
Yeah I do for certain kinds, the ones that are more acid loving I avoid using it on them though like my blueberry bushes.
This little vehicle has been a great help when collecting firewood.
You have made an excellent purchase, Mr. @solominer
Congratulations
Sure has been, quite happy with the purchase.
That's a pretty cool small vehicle. I remember walking around our property, collecting dead wood, splitting the bigger pieces, when I was younger. I always enjoyed it. Busy work, but busy work that gets you moving is never a bad thing, and needless to say I always enjoyed the splitting wood part. Not too sure I could manage that these days. I'd love to buy a larger stretch of land and try. You're living the dream!
Yeah so true, I like to stay moving so a simple job like collecting firewood is nice to have.
Ah well I have help here, so it would be alot harder to do it alone.
Great job dear .I am sure you will be cutting down dead trees and bringing them back and this is a very healthy activity. You can maintain your health with this.
thanks much, sure is.. good for me.
My pleasure
Looks like you have been more than busy! It seems the UTV was a great investment. Are you going to spend some time through the summer gathering wood so you can have a stockpile before next season? I know you probably don't mind driving around in the winter looking for stuff, but it might save you some of that hassle.
Sure have been, pretty much every day when the weather is fair I go out and collect firewood.
I tend to avoid the forests in the summer, they are full of ticks.. lol I will probably stack some wood at the end of the winter though.. already started a small pile but will keep building it.
That is a good point about the ticks. They have been getting worse and worse. People complain about them in Michigan all the time lately. I have only ever seen two or three in the past five years or so, but my wife and I don't go hiking in the woods too much either. I had one up my pant leg once, scary once I found it. Luckily it hadn't attached yet.
Glad you had your small vehicle that will carry those big trunks of trees. Even if that vehicle is small yet so strong maybe. Such an amazing work.
Sure is strong, I am quite happy with it.
It must be really nice to have a vehicle like that to drive, not to mention that it speeds up and makes your job easier. I can tell it was a great purchase for you!
Sure is nice, I do love it.
I covert your Electric UTV. It's really serving us. How is the farm going?
thanks.. the farm is doing great.. its winter time right now so mostly just collecting firewood at the moment.. going to start new seeds soon though.
The load capacity of this small vehicle is impressive, the help it gives you to collect firewood is great
You have made an excellent investment, you are giving it great use
You are doing a great job, dear friend @solominer
Yeah I am really happy with it.. quite the machine.
Never ending work around a homestead..
I used to have a 250cc Polaris ATV years ago.
personally I do not like the electric ones.
a friend I work with has one too and she is pretty happy.
keep up the good work 💪
Oh cool.. I do not have any ATVs yet. Maybe one day I will buy one.
👌👍💗
thanks
Ash really does provide protection against ice during the winter. In the past, when we had wood ash, we would sprinkle it on icy areas and it worked. It would protect you from serious injuries.
Your UTV really does a great job. You are lucky to have it. I hope you enjoy it for many years without any problems.
Ah good to know... looking forward to seeing how effective it is.
thanks much.. I do like it.
It's always cool to see how the right equipment can make a job more efficient. This electric UTV definitely looks like a great investment! :)
So true, the right tools for the job is very important.
Lol. Nice.
Its a small machine so you had to take a few rounds collecting woods.
Yeah maybe if I put a trailer on I could carry more.. just hard to move one around.
It packs quite some power and since you are powering it up with solar it so reassuring to see someone coexisting with nature :)
Yeah that is the plan.. a good sustainable project.
That’s some serious dedication to keeping the fire going! 🔥🚜 It’s awesome to see how much you’re getting done with the UTV, and the fact that it's running entirely on solar makes it even better! 🌞⚡ Looks like you’ve got a solid system in place—stacking, hauling, cutting, and even using the ash efficiently. The backup camera and headache rack are definitely great additions too! Do you have a favorite type of wood for burning, or does anything dry and dead do the trick? Keep up the great work!
Thanks. I really do enjoy going out there and going through the process.
Honestly any wood is good as long as it is dry.
👍
Well that is a lot of weight your EV is carrying. You sure have put the power of the Sun God to good use ;)
Yeah but it can handle it.... hehe so true
Hey man what happened?
Why these down votes on your comment?
I see you write organic content which should not get any downvotes or haters coming after the organic content writers.
small but mighty little vehicle! I was thinking u were building some filter with all those rocks and charcoal.. 😉😎🤙
Yeah I do like it..
When Electric Chainsaw?
I have been eyeballing the DeWalt one.
So cool you charge the EV off the panels and totally off the grid.
Already got a milwaukee fuel chainsaw.. we use it all the time.
Yep.. it sure is.
That's a big convenience man, by the way, how was the winter there? It was much milder than expected in Turkey. Everyone was expecting a very cold winter.
There is also an image at the end of the post to vote as a witness, but I guess it doesn't direct people anywhere, it might be good to add a link there.
Yeah sure is nice.. winter here has been significant.. we got some snow a month or so ago that stuck around for a few weeks. And it just snowed again a few days ago.
Ah yeah, good point.. though everyone uses different front ends.. so hard to have a link that would be useful without knowing what front ends they are using.
To be honest I have to admit that this little car is indeed horsepower, it is able to transport several small and large wooden trees, it is very nice to have this mini car.
In cold weather, you can go out into the forest to pick up some pieces of wood that you have prepared beforehand, and there is much more that you need to work on for the next stage, a tireless hard worker. 😊💪
Yeah that is the plan... just gotta keep at it and pace myself.
You make those little vehicles look super cool and tons of fun to drive around in. I'm sure that's the only real reason you have all that land, it's to justify buying cool bikes and quirky vehicles to ride around in all day, isn't it?
I can see how handy they are for your wood collecting purposes, but I bet they are versatile little things and help you out with all sorts of different jobs and chores.
Do you know a neighbour or friend in the vicinity who has one of those little buggy things? You need to start setting up races with them and then expand into full blown rally events and invite people over from other towns. I would have so much fun in those vehicles I would never get any work done!

Hah sometimes I do go out and just ride.. but its a little bit of both.. work and play.
Lol.. that sounds kind of dangerous.. will probably just stick to farming haha
