Can Mental Wellness drive the body to heal ? At least I am thinking its possible.

Mental well being is directly related to physical well being, but which one drives the other ?

Certificates of Wellness.jpg

So these are my certificates or rather records of wellness and I think, now I consider them more valuable than my educational certificates. In fact, they are handy and kept in a more important place.

The journey.jpg

The journey started since Feb 2019, when I was diagnosed with a simple cyst in the liver after I went through a regular health check up. My insurer offers a health check up every year, but that was my first full package check up.

Everything was normal, except this new guest, and all I was advised is to contact a liver specialist and follow good life style. So the journey started from there. I did go to many specialists and in the course of trying to find that angel who can give me the right direction, I discovered this great gastroenterologist and liver transplant physician Subrat Kumar Acharya who is awarded Padma Shree, 2014 for his great service and is recognized as one of the best in the whole country. Fortunately he belongs to my native place and he has collaborated with an hospital very near to me, to provide affordable liver related treatment to the common people. So undoubtedly, I assured myself in the best hands and after going through several tests, he advised me weight reduction as my medicine.

So the goal was set and the new lifestyle started. I am pretty dedicated on what I do and I started doing regular exercise without fail for a long time, to achieve the goal. Things does not always work as we expect and I got a setback some times back, I did a post as well on that and I surpassed the challenge and moved ahead. In parallel I started some Ayurveda treatment as well.

But after 4 months since then, again I am facing some health issues with consistent pain in the chest and Covid -19 has been creating more challenge during these difficult times. My doctor is not visiting the hospital since long and upon inquiry, I got to know that there is little chance of he coming back soon. So I consulted one of his colleague who is also a very Senior Professor and went through all the tests advised, last week.

And even though the blood reports are normal, the ultrasound reports another small cyst coming along.

So this is concerning for me, even though some other doctors I consulted are saying , this is nothing to worry. But this puts me in a dilemma - if I already reduced weight by more than what was advised, why did not it heal !! I have been doing regular exercise, so what is causing these cysts ?

From last few days, I have been analyzing myself - I feel, I have reduced my entertainment since last 1-2 years. I am focused more on my work and duties and that gets me burnt more. 8 hrs sleep a day, was probably long time back, though I used to sleep a lot earlier. And Covid-19 has even restricted some friendly meet ups we used do once in a while ( in 2-3 months).

And I feel, I should now do more of them. I think, mental wellness is more priority along with physical well being !! Because I am a living example. I have done all that was needed to make my body fit, but I did not have enough rest / joy , that was needed to get better results.

So I am working to improve the mental wellness since last 2 days. All along I have been trying to fight and be positive. But you know, the evil human inside us, sometimes brings those bad dreams that sometimes scares me as well. It's difficult to ignore that, but with the tremendous support from the family, I am trying to conquer and win over it. I don't know, if I can, but I should do my part.

This post is a commitment made to @galenkp - to write about my own issues and discuss here, if it helps others anyways. I am not embarrassed to bring up my issues publicly because I think, It brings more fear within me if I just keep them to myself. Rather, I get more support from people around me, and that gives me strength to fight it better.

And we have a perfect time to share our stories since the MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CHALLENGE is going on and you can ENTER TIL OCT 31 FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN! See this post from @naturalmedicine for more details. Even this post from @galenkp is very inspiring.

And please tag me, I will be very much interested to see such posts that would bring a positive impact.

I absolutely believe that Mental health shapes up our physical body. The new development is worrying but I am sure you will take good care of it with your diet and lifestyle and most importantly as you said getting back to a good mental health. I am sure you are a very positive person and you do not need to fight to be one, and there will be times when you may not feel upto the mark but those temporary moments are fine. Be happy and joyful, that will solve a lot of problems in life. Wishing you optimal health my friend. Take care and waiting to see your post soon on hearing good news about about your health

Thank you so much for all the encouragement - they boost the confidence a lot.

I do believe that mental and physical health are connected and can affect each other, in a positive and negative way. Unfortunately, mental health issues are still taboo so it's always good to hear someone talking about the importance of it. Our minds are very powerful and I believe that the improvements you're making in your lifestyle will bring you great results! :)

Thank you a ton, we will see in 4-5 months for sure.

Some time ago I went to my gynecologist, because I wanted to be a mother and after several studies I was diagnosed with resistance to polycystic insulin and ovaries, with that picture, coupled with the obesity I suffered, because the idea of being a mother was complicated.
My doctor told me to lose weight plus other things (gulcofage). I didn't listen at the time. I kept trying and had no results. Then came my separation from my husband.
I became very depressed. So much so that I gained more weight, complicating the whole picture.
However, I became aware and changed my life. I went jogging, crossfiting, spinning and not only my physical condition improved, but also my thoughts and feelings. I couldn't have a child, but I'm not complaining about that anymore. I think that everything that is for me comes on its own and if it doesn't come, then it wasn't for me. Maybe that is the case with me.
I also believe that mental health and physical health come together.
I loved reading it @sanjeevm.

I think that everything that is for me comes on its own and if it doesn't come, then it wasn't for me.

That brings positivity, but at the same time, we need to do what we should. Glad it worked for you, after you realized and took care. I am in the same belief. At least till this pandemic goes away, let me do what I can.

Namaste🙏, Its sad news that your have cysts issue in liver, i have no more idea about to comment on this issue, but i pray god to you will be fine soon. Please be safe and take care

Congratulations on making a lifestyle change and losing the weight! Plus recognizing what is necessary to bring you to optimum health - taking care of your mental health!
Wishing you the best of health!

Mental health is very important than physical health. If brain works good then automatically body will work fast and smooth.
No need to worry about in any disease because that can be remove from positive thoughts and will power.
Do yoga every day before sun rise and in open places like park or your building roof.
Always drink hot water and avoid eating refrigerated food.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for spreading awareness on how you have become more aware about the importance of maintaining your mental health. Everything is connected and if we focus only on our physical self and neglect our mental health then we are out of balance. Wishing you the best on your healing journey.
