May seems to be following April's lead by flying by - how is it already the fourth? Although for everyone looking forward to seeing how the standings turned out this month, I suppose it's a good thing it's here already. 😊
Before I get started, and as always, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this month's Hive Power Up Day, either through powering up, posting, offering prizes, or spreading the word. As I said on @hivebuzz's Feedback from the May 1st Hive Power Up Day post...
April was an incredibly busy month in many ways, so it's no surprise the days flew by and another Power Up Day seemed to pop up out of nowhere. However, I seem to be in the minority when it comes to losing track of time, because we were definitely not lacking for people stacking their Hive today!
I didn't see quite as many first time Power Up Day faces in my feed this month as I have before, but still plenty of newer Hive community members (as well as old timers) were doing some powering up today. And as I've said before, even if the total amount powered up isn't a huge number (since new usually means small as far as liquid Hive goes), it's still a huge win for us all. Especially given the ultimate goal of this initiative (which turned 4 years old last month) is to encourage our newest and smallest members to stake their tokens, so they can grow their accounts.
As always, a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this Power Up Day by powering up, posting, and/or shouting out on all traditional web 2.0 social media. All of those things help shine a light on the blockchain, which in turn helps to grow our community. Special thanks to @hivebuzz for always BEEing such an incredible buzz-maker for Hive Power Up Day, and for continuing to add to the blockchain fun. And here's to all the Hiveans, new and old, who continue to increase their voting power and influence on the blockchain - congratulations to you all!
I was correct for the most part, but wrong in an awesome way - while participation numbers wise held pretty steady, the power up total was much bigger than last month! Am I wicked happy about that?
To break it all down, we had 95 qualifying entries for the prize pool (compared to 92 in April) with 151 total entries (compared to 150 last month) and 166 posts with either the #HivePUD, #HPUD, and/or #HispanicHPUD tags on the first (163 last month).
As for the overall number, the power ups ranged from 0.002 to 2376.146 Hive Power, for a grand total of...
16,245.238 Hive Powered Up!
By comparison, the total in April was 10,340.008, which is about a 60% increase! So I'm thinking this month's result is...

Great to see folks powering up and always nice to see more powered up this month than last! With the recent down turn a bit in Hive price, it's an excellent time to try and buy some off an exchange or use your HBD! Everyone is always wishing to get "discount" hive but there's no time like the present! :D

Thanks! Some will try it and win in the end, some won't. It's all good, if people don't, there has always been the time where people come and say "I WISH I GOT DISCOUNTED HIVE!!!!111" and you can proudly say you did get some lol if the price spikes up to 2 or 5$, you'll be doing great snagging some for .85$!
You think is good idea to exchange hdb to hive? I was not thinking on that... But... Looks good.
Not all of it, no but I usually do a portion. I'm doing 25% of my HBD exchanging it for Hive when the price of HBD nears the 1$ soft peg so that way I maximize my HBD > Hive trade but at the same time can get some Hive to power up and some HBD to drop in the savings account!
That's my strategy and it may not work for everyone but it works well for me!
What you could also do is apply that same philosophy but throw all of the HBD in savings and take out a portion to trade for Hive near PUD. That way you get the interest rewards but can still power up!

The current Hive price is also the reason I am able to participate in HPUD and bought some at .89 downward. at least I can make use of HBD to get some hive while also keeping some in savings.
