Yesterday I received an interesting request for help. Our young member, a design student, was given the task to find and analyze about thirty posters, examples of Nazi propaganda before and during the Second World War…

At first, I have tried to find something like the cover picture or like this:

Јуче сам добио занимљив захтев за помоћ. Наш млади члан, студент дизајна, добио је задатак да пронађе и анализира тридесетак постера, примера нацистичке пропаганде пред почетак и за време Другог светског рата…

У почетку, покушао сам да нађем нешто као са насловне слике или овако нешто:

Along side it, I’ve found no less interesting topic for a text. There is in Serbia (maybe in other countries too) a saying: “Never ask a woman for her age, never ask a man for his wage, and never ask German corporation what they did from 1938 to 1945.”

You see, many large corporations in Germany would gladly erase history until 1945, and would gladly accept only the memory of, say, the 1960s and onward:

Узгред сам пронашао не мање занимљиву тему за текст. У Србији (а можда и другде) постоји изрека: „жену никад не питај за године, мушкарца за плату, и немачку фирму чиме су се бавили од 1938. до 1945.“

Видите, многе велике фирме у Немачкој радо би избрисале историју до 1945, и радо би прихватиле само сећање од, на пример, шездесетих година:

Unfortunately for them, history has not forgotten that, for example, the famous Volkswagen “Beetle’ was Hitler’s idea realized by Ferdinand Porsche:

На њихову жалост, историја није заборавила да је, на пример, чувена Фолксвагенова ‘Буба’ била Хитлерова идеја коју је реализовао Фердинанд Порше:

And Volkswagen then became an important bolt in Hitler’s military machinery:

And it was not the only corporation harnessed to a military-industrial complex:

All of those corporations, like BMW, have used slave labour of millions of people all over Europe. Neither of those corporations were dismantled, nor their owners have been punished and deprived of property. So, what has changed? The military-industrial complex has taken over state governments and the media, warmongering propaganda became far more ‘sophisticated’, and the weapons far more deadly…

Све те корпорације, као што је БМВ, користиле су робовски рад милиона људи широм Европе. Ниједна од тих корпорација није расформирана, нити су њихови власници кажњени и лишени имовине. Шта се, дакле, променило? Војно-индустријски комплекс преузео је државне владе и медије, ратна пропаганда постала је далеко „префињенија“, а оружје је постајало све смртоносније…
