What's Up From ecoTrain Community on Hive #17!

WHATSUPHIVE17.jpg

What's Up everyone! I hope you are all well and had a good week! Its been another abundant week for many of you who have posted to the ecoTrain community, with many posts receiving $10-45 up-votes from our supporters.. and especially with the support of OCD and their community support initiative. If you didn't know, OCD are now partnering with several communities on Hive to help to decentralise our communities and reward posts in niche communities that don’t have many up-votes or support. This is a very special initiative and shows how Hive and the decentralised model is so very different to centralised capitalism. A normal capitalist attitude would consider having one popular community, and holding a huge amount of VP to be a great success.. but on Hive it is not what we want, and it is VERY good to see our witnesses such as @acidyo doing what they can to keep things decentralised. Click here for more info.

So to all of you who are either new to Hive, or post good content that is rarely noticed or rewarded.. now is a GREAT time to post to the ecoTrain community and start getting the kind of rewards your posts deserve.

This week I would like to share a few posts that have received our combined support, and touch on some of the subjects that ecoTrain support. These topics include:

"Sustainability, ecoVillages, Community, Self-sufficiency, Off-grid Living, Homesteading, Permaculture, Alternative Energy, Alternative Lifestyle, Natural Health, Cooking, Eco-Building, Earthships, Recycling, Esoteric, Inner Transformation, Spiritual, Nature"

It's so good to see so many posts that normally receive relatively few up-votes with up to $45!.. I’m very happy to be able to direct some of the Hive abundance to you all! We live in VERY special times, and the topics that we support are more important to share than ever. No one knows what the next year or two will bring to the world, and right now is our chance to steer things in a new and much more healthy direction. This all starts with awareness, and sharing our knowledge and experiences.. so I hope you check out some of these posts and drop a comment if you like them.

EarthBag Eco-Dome, finally some summer progress! Days 1 and 2

For a long time, I have done little sharing and a very small bit of complaining about an earthbag dome in my life, finally after many years of pushing and slowly progressing, sometimes seeming like saving money just to throw it into a hole....we are within a stone's throw of completion. It had been such a rainy July, that I just left the plastic on and worked on other things, such as an outside picnic bench Part 1 and Part 2, cleaning coffee contours and working with the biological corridor reforestation. All covered up, it can start to seem a bit depressing:

So we first took our machetes and cleaned all around the dome, opening up clear space to work, see and think. Over the years we have worked hard to do much the opposite, but I have to admit that things look exciting and more promising when everything is all cleaned up. We needed to redo the roof, and since we cut some bamboo in the last new moon, (and cut and organized it before ecoinstante's birthday party), we have plenty to choose from as we build a roof made of shading plastic, to block against the direct sunlight. This is as much for us as it is for the dome, the direct UV especially here in the tropics is one enemy the plastic bags do have.

Happy Krishna Janamashtami !! (Celebration at Home.)

Wishing you all, Happy Jamashtami. An auspicious and special day in Hinduism to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.

Janmashtami, Hindu festival celebrating the birth (janma) of the god Krishna on the eighth (ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).

Though, Covid-19 does spoil the spirit of celebration this year, still we made sure to do our best at home. It is an important festival particularly to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. On this day, people celebrate by keeping Fasting and also Praying.

There is a long story behind the birth of Lord Krishna, who is considered to be the Eighth Avatar of Sri Vishnu. As we celebrating at home we made sure we should not fell less of all arrangement.

Easy Tips to Help You Reduce, Recycle, Reuse to SAVE Ecosystem

Americans eliminate approx 700 billion pounds of paper, glass, plastic, wood, food, metal, clothing, electronics, and other refuse annually.

The problem of managing mountains of waste could seem overwhelming, but experts note there are easy ways for consumers to form a difference a day.

"Old habits might prevail, like forgetting to recycle a can or newspaper, but the great news is, there are many simple ways to chop down on waste, from buying concentrated household products to purchasing in bulk," says environmental expert Kim Carlson.

Carlson offers the subsequent tips to assist consumers to reduce, recycle, and reuse waste:

11 More Items Saved From Curb Recycling Recently Sold For $1,373 (100% Free Money)

Yep, Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver designer earrings in a child's jewelry box, among other sterling silver and gold for free in a bag on the curbs. I just cleaned them and will list for $300 given the artist's signature. I added them to a box I separately salvaged to add value. Intrigued? I post about what I've done to help others or the environment. Facts. No fluff. Per usual, all of these items below were found by walking around my city neighborhood's curbs on recycling nights (usually 3x a week for 90 mins per route), where they're sitting in clear plastic bags, loose on top of them, or sometimes in cardboard boxes. I see the value everyone else misses or doesn't care about, and I consistently do something about. It's never work. It's all fun, like a treasure hunt. $0 cost = 100% environmentally-friendly profit and complete freedom.

Flooding the garden is the best way to water it at this time of year 🌿

Here in the South of France it can reach 40°C in the afternoons in the late summer and the land becomes very dry. Up until this point we had been watering the garden with watering cans from collection tubs filled by the hose, but now this is not enough and the weekly flood system has begun.

The old ways are always the best!

The water is collected from a stream which is fed from our village canal. The pressure isn't amazing but it is enough to fill up the tubs. Or flood the garden!

Viennese Modern Waste Management - MA 48

Cleaning my garden...

The situation in my garden is chaotic....since yesterday I worked so hard to clean the clutter. There were old broken pots and other containers that really need to be disposed of. Although we had 35°C temperature, it didn´t matter, I cleaned -out everything and have gathered some cut branches which had been used the year before to support the cucumber and tomatoes. We also had broken wooden chair that can´t be repaired because the legs were rotten due to changing seasons.

And since I have a lot to throw away, I brought those green waste and the clay pots, wooden pieces that are no longer used as well as any rusty metals found in the cellar to the Mistplatz (Dumping Site) in our area that is about 2 kilometers from our house. The Department of Waste Management in Vienna had modernized almost all of the these sites, actually one of the most modern waste sites in the EU if not in the world. Not only Vienna is segregating the waste but in all of Austria and because of this principle, valuable materials are processed and recycled and again put to good use.

The Textile Recycling Project: ecoDesigns Weekly Meeting Report

Yesterday Tuesday 11th August 2020, Mr. Green and the trainees of ecoDesigns held their weekly meeting at 04:00PM in the absence of their training directors, Mrs Akisah Justine and Miss Nchang Notburga who were on other assignments.
The meeting began with a word of prayer from Rahimatou who called on Allah’s wisdom, guidance and protection of the entire team and then a word of welcome from Mr. Green, Founder/Executive Director of The Greens.
In his welcome address, Mr. Green called on all trainees to be wise in the management of ecodesigns resources, be vigilant with the little children who are always at ecoDesigns so as to avoid accidents and to maintain top notch hygiene and sanitation standards at ecoDesigns.
Prior to the meeting, we had an unfortunate incident wherein one of the ecoDesigns trainee’s son was hit by a car as he was crossing the road just in front of the office. Fortunately for us, he only sustained light injuries and was discharged from the hospital a few minutes after the incident. The good news is that our hub is just opposite a hospital. After the son was discharged from the hospital, the trainee joined us for the meeting. This explains why Mr. Green emphasized on all trainees, especially trainees who come to work with their kids to be cautious with sharp objects so as to avoid accidents.
