Sometime in life, we all reach that point where we begin to ask ourself, how hard should I really try again? Because no matter how you put your best, things still go somehow. You push, you sweat, you give your all, but it still look like nothing dey change. I’ve been there before, and honestly, it no easy at all.
Back in my college days, I remember one small story writing contest wey I join. I put my whole energy into it staying up late, missing class, even forgetting to eat. I just wanted to win badly. When the result finally come out, my name no even enter top five. I just weak. That night I sit outside hostel alone thinking say maybe writing no be my thing at all. I almost give up totally that day.
But one of my close guy tell me something wey change my thinking small. He say, “Trying hard is not bad, but you need try smart too.” At first, I no really understand am well. But later, as I think am, I realise say maybe he was right. The next competition wey I join, I do things different I read other people’s work, I listen when person correct me, and I rest small when my head full. Funny enough, that time I no only win, but I enjoy the whole process more.
That experience teach me big lesson. Trying too hard without learning no dey always help. You go just tire yourself for nothing. Life no be about suffering yourself till you collapse, it’s about balance working hard but still taking care of your mind.
Even when I look Korea people, I dey respect how them value hard work. Students dey study like say exam tomorrow, and workers dey focus like machine. But even at that, I believe say rest still important. Body no be iron.
So how hard should you try? Try enough to move forward, but no kill yourself inside the process. Try smart, learn from mistake, and rest small when you need am. At the end of everything, life no be race na journey wey you suppose enjoy small small as you dey go.
