We will award 3 HIVE, 300 Ecency Points, and 15 LEO tokens to the best entry. Up to three Second Place winners will receive 2 HIVE, 150 Ecency Points, and 7 LEO tokens each. Honorable Mentions will be granted one HIVE, 50 Ecency Points, and a split of the remaining LEO tokens.

August holds great significance in South Africa as Women’s Day is celebrated on the 9th. So, on Women's Day, this should be a good question for you ladies to answer. In the last contest, we talked about how women have experienced discrimination for being women, and how we're slowly gaining more equality as time passes. But...

What is a woman?

There are changing concepts of sex and gender in this digital age, and some children growing up are asking difficult questions. As Mothers and Grandmothers, we want to ensure that our children have all the answers and resources they need to live their happiest and most productive lives. If faced with the issue of dissatisfaction over their sex/gender, how would you address your children's questions pertaining to the changing concepts of sex and gender in this digital age?

I am honoured to be present. I find it to be rather challenging to have two girls, each with a different personality. My oldest daughter recently questioned why women must cook. Lol.

What a fabulously brave question to ask! I applaud you @joanstewart and thank you for bringing this important topic to the table.

I don't feel to write a whole post on this topic (mostly because I'm trying to find a gentle, sustainable way to post on Hive and I'm currently out of juice) but I do want to say, in brief, that if I had children or grandchildren of my own I would say something like this (depending on my exact relationship with the child, the beliefs of the other adults who care of them and the age of the child):

Sweetheart, I love you so very much and want you to know I accept you as you are.

I know you have questions so let's talk about them. I might not have all the answers to your questions but I bet we can learn some of this stuff together. How does that sound?

Please tell me about what it feels like to be you.

I look forward to reading posts by any human in this group who personally does not identify with being cis-gendered. If that is you, you are welcome to put a link to your post/answer to this week's LOH question below this comment so that more people may find it.

Each has to make decisions then be happy thereafter, time has changed where individuals should no longer be dictated to. Nothing in life is straight forward even with laws in place the scourge continues with gender based violence evident.

We are connected in the same line of thought, it is thus the differences do not separate us, it is the refusal to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences to encourage in our families and especially in our children tolerance, openness and acceptance of Diversity.

Teaching from childhood the value of respect for others, regardless of their economic status, country of origin, skin color, sexual preference, laws (cultural burden) can always make a difference. There is still much to do, we must not lower our cry for openness and inclusion in this era of digital knowledge.
