Guys, the main holiday of this spring for me is my new profession! I've become a driver!;)
Only now, yeah:) we bought a car 11 years ago, but I didn't want to be a driver at all, and when my husband went to the driver's courses, I rejected to visit them.
As a result,I was a passanger in my car during these 11 years.
I saw hundreds of girls whowere drivers, but I never felt this passion in my soul.
Moreover, I didn't want to visit courses;)
Moreover, I didn't want to pass complicated driver's exams;)
And I didn't want to do all these things for my own money;))
Driver's courses cost about 700$ now!
What changed this year? Maybe I wanted to have some changes in my life and to test myself somehow;)
And to shake everyday routine too.
So I started my education in Octover 2025.
We had 2 months of theoretical lessons, then 25 hours of practical driving with an instructor
Then we passed a theoretical exam + driving.
Exams were really very complicated! Especially driving!
A traffic police worker was veeery serious and didn't let to make any mistakes!
I know people who try to pass exams during some years... It's true!
And the most awful thing is that you have only 3 tries to pass the exam. If you don't do it, you should wait 6 months till your next 4th try.
I didn't want to wait so long so I tried my best to get the driver's license at once.
And YEAHHH I did it!;))
My exam lasted 6 hours!

That's a right of passage for many youths in western culture but it is also very expensive to own and operate a private car in Canada.

oh really? here it's minimum 700$ only standard lessons (if you need more, you should pay more). Is it more expensive in Canada?
For BC Canada, I recall for an Approved Driving Lesson package is $2000 CAD, Driving Exam $45CAD, Car Insurance minimum of $2500/year, License fee and registration $80 renew every 5 years, and gas at $6CAD/US GAl or $2.17 CAD/liter. Parking free ....if you can find any.
