People on snaps... vote for what you think it should be valuing Hive... not because you like it! 😉
I know, it sounds weird. But that's how this should be.
Just making a point...

I have a script that shows the KE of someone, most people above 3 KE does not get a vote from me. If you have high KE and still powering down everything you get then I downvote posts.
Do you ask why they're powering down? I know a couple of amazing content creators with high KE. E.g., they have different accounts, one for saving and one for posting. Or they're going through a rough patch in life. But generally, yeah the KE is a good indicator.
I don't. And with high KE I mean something like 10-20 or above KE.
https://peakd.com/@avatara/postsFor example an account like this orhttps://peakd.com/@peerfaizan1/postsor this.Unless you are powering down every little bit you get, it is very very hard to be in this level of KE and it is clear to me they are farming pennies on the chain. (Well, and those are the ones I can meaningfully prevent given my power.)
Those are also those who farm rewards between 0-1, so it's not the ones with legacy and standing in the community. I guess I can add that to my selection process. What happens in a downvote, anyway? No payout at all for anyone? I never really thought about that.
As far as I know, both the curators and the author don't receive a reward. Reward goes back to the reward pool. So other curated content gets those rewards in a way.
That sounds reasonable. By down-voting extractive content, I push more valuable contribution. I'll ask around a little to make sure of that, but that would be pretty decent. I thought that it's a little like "stealing" rewards.
Yes, that is the biggest stigma with the downvotes, people think that you are "stealing" their rewards. But those rewards are not theirs until the payout in the first place.
Sick! Love it. Can you share with @peakd team and see if they want to implement it as an opt-in option?
If I remember, they were displaying KE next to people and then well people complained and they have removed it. So I don't think they would want to add something like that back.
Opt-in helps when doing these things...
I've never heard a good 'why' for this thinking.
Yes, I'm aware of the dust threshold, but I don't understand why that's a reason to not vote.
The point was - vote! (down/up) whatever anyone feels like. People need to be comfortable with negative things. So they can learn...
I know, positive is best! I am a positive person... I want to point out the positive things because I know it helps!
I am me...
I guess I missed the point. I thought you were encouraging people to NOT vote on Snaps, but to comment instead. I've set my vote weight for Snaps to be very low, and I use votes on Snaps as 'likes'. I've been told this is crazy and wasteful, but have never heard a good reason why
Anyone can vote right? So the point is to comment. But next it to understand how to vote.
People voting for things that "promote selling everything on the chain is not good"...
Right?
I agree completely, just missed the original point. It made more sense when I read it with broader context.
Communication... (I am always learning)
Same here. I don't get why dust votes are supposed to be harmful. Maybe it's a lot of Blockchain for too little transaction, aka inefficiency? Anyway, the bigger I grow, the more my 5% vote will be worth, too 😅
You can keep commenting...
Hm... But I want hive to show things that I like. I don't think I understood your point 😅
That might be more a UI thing, because blockchain will always have a ton of stuff we don't like. :D So, what I am saying is that experience wise, it has to be a front end feature.
I think I understand, hahaha
I agree with you. It has to be what's beneficial to hive
But this is true. Not all things are worth vot
