One thing I come across sometimes is people have all their comments downvoted. I upvoted some of these comments last night.
Even if I am getting less in curation rewards, I believe supporting engagement with my stake in this way is legitimate.
That's a very good kind of mindset.
Comments don't usually get frequent upvotes. So, attitudes like yours (which have more voting power) can help "reshape" this game.
Personally speaking, I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. It's about time to start.
Then do it if you've thought about it. I'm sure it would encourage people on Hive.

It's not a bad idea imo. One motivation for me is I have seen instances where auto upvotes cause some users to do "weird" stuff. I have no issue with auto upvotes but it just made me realize auto downvotes on good stakeholders comments is at best weird lol

Agreed! I try not to optimize just for rewards or just optimize for engagement. I am working on finding balance between the 2!

It's interesting why people get downvotes on their comments, but I support the idea that comments deserve to be supported as well.
That's why I always try to make every comment I leave on a post of some value.
I also read through the comments a bit and wanted to ask again whether I have understood this correctly. Do you think that if you downvote often you will be downvoted yourself or only if you are downvoted by a big account will you be put on such a downvote trail?
I do get hit with retaliatory downvotes but have not been put on a downvote trail. I kind of expected to be put on one already tbh.
Downvoting takes up too much of my time today so I’m going to come up with something that is more community run and I will post about it today.

I think it won’t make sense from a rewards perspective. From a communication perspective it does have an impact. Being downvoted isn’t fun even if it doesn’t have a big impact to rewards
I understand is making it clear that I don't like or disagree with someone's content even if it doesn't affect their rewards. It can be very subjective sometimes to vote negative
I would feel very bad if someone who doesn't like frogs voted me negative in my Frog Games 😁
When I first started downvoting I did it based on “quality” of content. In retrospect that was way too subjective and I no longer do it.

I can understand a small game developer shutting down something that isn't profitable. When Disney did this to the Pirates Of The Carribbean online server, however, I lost my shit.
