Sure, but why wait? I understand the that it's fun for most people to turn everything into a game, but in the end, I rather power up today as I have the HIVE instead of waiting 7 more days :-)
Yes, yes, you are absolutely right. In fact, the sooner you do the PU, the faster you start to earn a better return on curation, but on the first day, save at least 10 hive to participate. The community is organizing to break this record.
