RE: HODL 1st Contest ! More than 40 USD in prizes 🎁

in HODL4 years ago (edited)

Hello, I am @daltono from West Virginia in USA.

The story of how I got into cryptocurrency. It started mid-2017. I won a contest to the first annual https://www.consciousmediafestival.com/. Upon winning I flew on an airplane for the first time (besides the one time I went skydiving), all the way to Austin, TX. It was there I met many people who were working on blockchain projects. Actually the only other person to win a ticket like myself ended up becoming the social media manager for Holo.

I did not get involved with crypto immediately. It was not until September 2017 that I saw an interview between Giselle Koy and Stan Larimer, he of course mentioned Steemit at the time. Seeing users earn giant payouts for posting got me very interested, yet confused. It took me until December 1st 2017 to actually create my account. After that I have been a daily user ever since. Literally no days off for me and I honestly love it. Earning crypto is really the only way I am able to stack it up, so being able to share things I create on Hive is fundamental.

Thanks to @cmplxty for the tag.

I would enjoy reading stories from @adelepazani, @joetunex, @jeffjagoe, and @patrickulrich about how they got involved with crypto for the first time.

Lol I remember seeing those 4000 dollar posts and dying inside because I was a few months late to the party

It was crazy to see those massive payouts as an outsider, that’s for damn sure. I can only imagine how it was to have been here that early on.

I was late to the party by a little bit more than 1 year.
I registered on the Steem blockchain on 2017.05.17.

Damn that's one hell of a story! I love it, that's definitely a great way to get started lol (is there a typo in the Giselle link? I thought it was Dan Larimer but I could be wrong!)

I've also been a daily user of the blockchain we call home, aside from some days here and there in the beginning and now where things come up but I definitely try to make it on at least once a day, to get curation rewards at least!

I'm at least not the only one who procrastinated a little bit here hehe.

Thanks for the story!

Not a typo, @dan’s father (aka @stan) was actually the one to introduce me to Steemit originally.

Literally the only time I’ve not been on daily is the couple of times the chain haunted. Other than that I’m consistent as they come 😎.

I think we were just timid, I won’t blame it entirely on procrastination. I really wanted to join earlier, I was just having trouble figuring everything out without any assistance.

That's cool, father son business!

Thanks @daltono for the tag interesting crypto journey you've had.
My story coming right up!

Awesome! I look forward to reading yours my friend 👏

Hello @daltono,

That is a truly amazing story and you were blessed to earn about STEEM in the early days :).

It is funny that I just come across you account now as you have been around for a while and looks like a fun person to follow 😅.

Thank you for participating to the contest.

@vlemon

The craziest part was that I won the festival ticket in an instagram giveaway. It was crypto practically pulling me towards it like a magnet.

It looks like we both have failed to discover each other until this very moment. So many accounts, it’s difficult to find all of the great ones.

Indeed, but the most important is to take every opportunity to add them to your special "following" list 😃.

What a story. I look forward to my own first time of boarding a plane. I hope it will be soon. Its also so amazing to see you have such huge connections. Wow

I hope you get to take flight soon! 🛫

Congratulation @daltono

Seriously great comment. Thanks for participating in this contest organized by @hodlcommunity and supported by @project.hope.

I was supposed to upvote your post with 400k HP, however I've been late (for which I'm sorry) and this comment is already days old.

Instead, I will upvote your post "NEW Ghosts of Tsushima footage from Sucker Punch" with our account and curation trail. Which will total >500k HP.
