Cada año solemos renovar nuestra casa, nuestro guardarropa o nuestra imágen, hay gente que se hace un corte de cabello o un peinado diferente, otros que prefieren cambiarse el color de su pelo, muchas personas hacen dietas para adelgazar y tener una figura más esbelta o para engordar un poco y no ser tan delgados, otros deciden decorar sus cuerpos con algún tatuaje o piercing, también hay a quienes les gusta hacerse tratamientos estéticos no invasivos que ayudan a renovar y darle más frescura y lozanía a la piel y los más osados recurren a cambios más drásticos como botox, inyecciones o a las cirugías plásticas para cambiar lo que no les agrada.

La renovación no es un asunto exclusivo del ser humano, en la naturaleza también ocurren estos cambios. Hay animales que renuevan sus nidos, madrigueras y escondites así como también su imágen. Mamíferos que mudan su pelaje según el cambio de estación, otros que botan sus cuernos viejos para que crezcan nuevos, aves que renuevan sus plumas y hay algunos animales que cambian de piel. ¿Cambiar de piel? Mientras que las serpientes cambian su piel de una sola vez, los lagartos, lagartijas y geckos lo hacen por partes o en forma de parches.

Amo los geckos pero nunca había visto a un gecko mudando de piel a pesar de que es un animal con el que tengo mucho contacto ya que siempre hay uno que otro en mi casa. Las fotos que comparto en esta publicación se las tomé a un gecko que encontré saliendo de mi casa, estaba justo en la parte baja de la puerta del lado de las bisagras, lo ví porque era de los grandes y porque soy muy observadora y creo que ya tengo el ojo entrenado cuando se trata de detectar a estos pequeños reptiles jejeje.

Al principio pensé que estaba muerto porque se veía como pálido pero cuando me agaché ví que estaba cubierto por la piel vieja así que lo tomé con cuidado y se movió, estaba vivo, y subí a la terraza de mi edificio para observarlo con calma. La "camisa" o piel vieja lo tenía algo inmovilizado así que con mucha delicadeza la jalé un poco para que se sintiera más cómodo, también jalé suavemente la piel sobre su cabeza pero cuando llegó a sus ojos la dejé porque me dió miedo lastimarlo.

Luego de compartir una medía hora con este gecko y asegurarme que ya estaba bien lo dejé entre las plantas que están en la terraza del edificio, allí nadie lo molestaría, tendría agua, sombra, sol y muchos insectos que comer y el entorno lo ayudaría a desprenderse de su vieja piel.
