A bike shirt for a small bike fan /

(I sew jersey completely with my 100 Euro home use sewing machine. If you are interested in my technique, here is my former post about it: Tips to sew jersey with a basic sewing machine.)

From a very young age, my daughter is interested in bicycles. I often find her hands are black from her bike job ... 😅

So when I found bike printed fabric at a local fabric store, I couldn't help buying it 😁 I used a pattern that I adjust to my daughter's size and movement time by time. The pattern is originally from a Japanese sewing book.

When I compare the one I made before, I notice that she grows up well.

As I made this shirt few times already, I could finish it quite quickly.

This time I made a change. I made zigzag stitches on the hem and cuffs to make them as stretchy as possible. She can change clothes by herself without breaking it ...

It fits well on her. Unfortunately summer days are back and too warm to wear it outside. I wish she enjoys wearing it in autumn and start riding a bike by herself soon.

Ah now I want to have an overlock finally. I'll see there is a good offer during Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November 😁

That's my Needlework Monday!

THe photos of your daughter are lovely, especially the one from behind <3 And I think the new shirt will become beloved to her. So nice with all the bikes on it. (Doof, that’s the weather is hot again, I don’t like it either, not good for the headaches)
I am curious about the overlocker, do you know which machine you want to buy? I have used one in the sewing course and am a bit afraid of the knife - cutting and sewing at once ...hmmm

Gute besserung for your headache @neumannsalva. Hot days will be over in the middle of this week.

She might be photo shy like me 😅I used to have a Janome overlock in Japan but haven't decided which one to go for. What I afraid of it is setting up the threads. Even my grandma, who was a former professional, was annoyed by the process ... I'll see!

Thank your for the well wishes <3 The overlocker in the sewing course is already threaded, so I never had the adventure to get all these threads into the needle. I think the sewing machines and overlocker at the course are from Janome. They worked fine, but I have no comparison. The teacher always speaks about the overlocker from the brand Gritzna. I never heard of this before, but she swears they are good.

My sister bought a Babylock last year - you don't want to know what she paid for it...

That's Babylock 😁Something like Kitchenaid for bread baking ... Ah I want both!!!

because so cheap or so expensive? I a not up to date with overlockers :-D

I don't know if Babylock makes the most expensive ones, but they are at the top of the price range. Though they are seen as "worth the price if you can pay it": high quality, features for easier use, long-lasting.

Didn’t she had an overlocker already? I thought you told me and now I hoped she will give you the old one... I never researched overlocker as they are not in the budget right now and I am still unsure if I really need one... I think I should first learn to fit the patterns better and improve my sewing skills.

I couldn’t afford babylock 20 years ago and still not ... If I had 1000 Euros budget, I’ll buy a standard stand mixer, bicycle and overlock 😁

OMG 1000€???!!! 😱 I though perhaps 300-400€...

Take a look at the W6 overlock - they're quite cheap but reliable.

Thank you for the recommendation @muscara! It looks nice and budget friendly (important) 😁
