In the remote rural areas of Bangladesh, there has been a lot of folk art and cottage industries for a long time. However, the touch of electricity in the rural areas of Bangladesh has not been for many years. Only a decade ago, many villages did not have the touch of electricity, so hand fans were a constant companion on hot days. I said about the hand fan in my previous post and today I am going to share a new hand fan design in front of you in this needle work community.
This hand fan is at least five years old which my sister made. The link to the fan I shared earlier is given below this post. That was also made by my sister but today's hand fan design is a little different than before. There is a design with needle thread that can attract the attention of anyone at a glance because not only the aesthetics are highlighted in the design but also the color combination is done in such a way that the contrast color looks very attractive even from a distance.
The combination of these four colors of yellow, black, red, white, it is designed in such a way that one has to be fascinated at first sight. When I first saw it, I was amazed at how beautifully and efficiently such a thing could be done in that time. If you make a hand fan, you can use it to give air without making any design, but when it is so beautifully designed, it would be a pleasure to give it to any guest who comes to visit the house. And from all these ideas, one tried to surpass the other in terms of design. In other words, there was a competition among the women to make beautiful hand fan weaving or needle thread.
So many beautiful designs we see today that were a common thing before. If you notice very well and perfectly, you can see that the work has been done with yarn, so one design has emerged on one side and another design has prominenced on the opposite side. After all, hand fan was once a very popular attraction in Bangladesh but now due to the advent of electric fan, its effect is decreasing day by day, so today we rarely see such work in making design on hand fans.

This hand fan’s design is basically a combination of diamond and diamond inside square then again small diamond and some diaper designs. Although I did not understand these designs before, I can understand these designs now because I am currently studying the design of textile engineering. There was so much aesthetics in them that it was unthinkable at that time but after knowing the subject at the present time, i realized that even if they did not study, they had this knowledge because they could do the work with their hands and seniors what we are learning by studying now.
Anyway, I am very happy to be able to show and share with the world the beautiful, perfect craftsmanship of the people of rural Bengal through this @needleworkmonday community. And thanks to my sister for gifting such a beautiful hand fan to our family. Above all, I am ending today's post by wishing everyone a good time.

Thank you for sharing this amazing fan with us. I have not seen such a design before. I am curious about the technique and would love to see how it is made. It looks like a special kind of weaving, but I have no clue if it is made on a loom? Do your or your sister know how to make such a fan?
It's not a weaving made on loom rather diamond design with needle and thread.
It's like weaving but not with loom. She did with thread and needle but similar to weaving design. Basically it's like embroidery on a woven fabric. She did some hard work on it.
