Holozing Development & HAF based NFT app Proposal & New Creature Reveal

in Holozing Community6 hours ago (edited)

Holo everyone!

Although we didn't expect to be creating a proposal, times have unfortunately required it, even though we understand that timing isn't great.

This proposal is spread into 3 parts, backpay for delayed payments due to lack of funding, backpay for HAF NFT app, and overhead for the rest of 2025 and early 2026 for devs and artists.

A brief intro to @holozing.

It was launched fairly on Oct 17th 2024, mainly funded through delegations to @zingtoken and their rewards.
A year after, when we were certain the game is going to work out and be released when finished, we launched our starter packs (Alpha Vials) sale and have sold over 3800 vials in a year.

With the price of hive not doing too great and a lot of our crowdfunding depending on it, we've come to a situation where we're behind on payments to our developers and artists. Thus, we would like to ask the DHF for some assistance and some overhead for the rest of 2025 as to not risk losing any developers due to lack of funding.

More info about @holozing.

It's a turn-based 3d battle and healer game with professions and an in-game economy. Assets created from scratch with a unique battle-style where damage and healing is interconnected for strategic outcomes. It touches on collection, owning of assets, cross-play of assets, PvE and PvP, slight tamagotchi-style . It also touches on earning but isn't the focal point of the project as it will also offer a web2 version for players not interested in web3.

We have gotten a lot of work done over 2 years but there is also excessive work implemented that may have not been necessary for an alpha version but good to have to prevent the in-game economy from being cheated early on by multi-accounts/farms that have plagued many other games in the scene. This means that when the beta version of the game launches, it will officially be live without rollbacks/relaunches.

Our focus has also been the artwork which has cost us a lot of resources as we wanted it to be unique, professional and stand the test of time without turning to AI assistance as to leave any options open for integration of our game(s) on different platforms.

Spending

We have spent funding received purely on development of the game and assets as well as maintenance, our plan is to continue doing so while we develop our main game further along with side games, all using the zing token and holozing game assets. The things we've spent our funding on are:

  • backend work, hive-engine (from hive)
  • frontend work, website (from hive)
  • game, unity (found outside of hive)
  • artists, 2d, 3d, animations, vfx (from upwork, fiverr and hive)
  • sound & music (hive)
  • art direction & fine-tuning (hive)
  • 1 mini game, development on pause (from hive)
  • legal research, outreach, growth and further crowdfunding plans (outside of hive)
  • maintenance, servers, subscriptions to tools
  • game design, both concrete and advisory (from upwork and hive)
  • project lead and organizing (hive)
  • contests, events, various initiatives (hive)

We have also attempted to get every worker outside of Hive their own Hive account and to become active in the space, such as @luckyblame (game dev), @craizuss (healer artist) but understandably most preferred payments in other stable currencies (usdc/usdt/fiat). There have also been a few artists replaced over time, some had to focus on other projects while some we had to pause work with us due to lack of funding. We've however been lucky not to need to replace the more crucial components during this time and hope to keep it that way until the game is released.

We worked closely with blocktrades and team to develop a HAF app for NFT. While our original plans used Hive-Engine for NFTs, due to instability with the platform, we have wanted to move away for quite some time and this is the first step towards that. The HAF NFT Tracker app ( https://gitlab.syncad.com/hive/nft_tracker ) implements what we need for a MVP and is currently being tested for use with Holozing. This was designed in a way to benefit anyone on Hive who wants to launch NFTs, not just our project. We plan on migrating and issuing items from packs onto HAF NFTs, as well as any future NFTs that we create.

We have also invited blocktrades to our github as custodian to our code with a written agreement that if our team/project were to do anything that goes against Hive, they have the right to open-source/release the code to interested parties planning on continuing to build a game on Hive. This is a show of good faith for our proposal to continue developing our closed sourced game.

We're asking for

  • 8500 HBD for HAF NFTs work
  • 8500 HBD for backpay of our devs and artists
  • 10,000 HBD for overhead for the rest of 2025 and early 2026 for devs and artists

Total of 27,000 HBD paid over 60 days at 450 HBD daily.

We reserve the right to a full or partial refund of the overhead HBD if funding of our project from other sources (delegations, vial sales, hive price improvements, etc) improves during our expenses. Our priority remains to attempt to pay involved workers with our own funding first and the DHF-funded HBD for overhead second.

New Creature enters our roster

While this may seem highly off-topic to the rest of the post, we wanted to showcase a new creature for the rest of the community as we haven't been posting too often lately!

We are also working on the Zingtober results and winner announcement!

We'll make this part brief!

Meet Panyin! A small but already strong Panda. This creature will have generally quite balanced stats and not too focused on any specific ones, meaning on average it will be quite good at attacking, defending, being fast and critical strikes as well as having a good amount of Health. This is something that's going to be quite rare when you look at all the other creatures in our roster, hence the yin-yang symbol to represent it.

image.png

Its evolved form is called Panyang which many of you may have guessed looking at the first one! Similar to other creatures, it receives a boost in stats when it evolves but that doesn't mean that creatures that don't evolve fall behind on stats. Our formula makes sure that unevolved creatures have generally lower stats with the evolution then taking them to be on par with creatures that can't evolve, which we currently don't have in our roster but will eventually! Panyin and Panyang will focus on normal (physical) type moves with punches and kicks being their favorite abilities.

Can you guess what their radiant versions will look like, healers? :)

Thank you for reading and your continued support!

Supported! Fully in favor. A fun game is a great way to get new people to the platform.

Thanks and as mentioned in a comment here we definitely plan on making the game accessible for both web3 and regular accounts with the option to convert to a web3 at any time if players want to start trading the assets they've acquired when playing.

The game is also quite unique in terms of a similar one existing in web2, especially the whole healer & creature focus. While our flagship game is the common round based battler there is a lot more different options in the future we want to tackle and allow players to use the same assets there and vice versa.

This could easily be the best game on hive and the web2 side of it can attract new users to the platform

we also lack proper games to attract new users that are not boring idle no one would ever play beside earn dumping tokens

At this point when the game is almost ready, no reason to let it die, there are more pros than cons on help it

Supported

I don't think we're at risk of dying but it would cause quite bad repercussions if one dev would stop working further or decide to spend their time elsewhere cause we can't keep up with payments. It would lead to much more delays and it would take new devs a long time to "catch up" on what's already coded.

But yeah, one of the reasons we've spent a lot of resources on artwork and presenting it properly is not just for it to look shiny but so it's a bit on par with other games being built on other chains. The thing is there they receive millions in funding and who knows what happens with those funds, especially confusing when there's been a record amount of web3 games being shut down this year, thus we're trying to do things as cheap as we can without undermining the professionalism of the art.

Another thing that puts the game apart from others is that anyone and everyone can get invested or help crowdfund it and earn an equal share in the ecosystem. There's no equity set aside for the founder or team members. Contributors receive their payment in hive and aren't forced to push themselves to work so their token is worth something at the end of the day as we've seen happen with some projects that pay devs in tokens out of thin air rather than coins with liquidity.

wow combine panda with Yin Yang..Creative Creature😁☺

thanks, I thought it was a good idea as well and hadn't seen too much of it anywhere else! There were some search results on google but it was mostly logo's, so I thought it'd be a nice fit for a creature in our ecosystem!

Yes, the yinyang pattern on the face.. with a black part on one eye, I haven't seen that anywhere, I think this character is very original even though we are very familiar with kung fu panda. And this also breaks the character of the panda that should be cute, this character doesn't look like a cute panda, more like a panda that behaves like a bear.. It's quite convincing that he is strong in front of his enemies☺

Hehe yeah and it'll also be a unique creature in the game since its stats will always have the same min-max compared to others.

As example, at level one it will have the same lower limit as max limit of HP, ATTACK, AGILITY and DEFENSE. Perfectly balanced between each other!

Yes, and I can't wait for this game to actually be released, especially since it can be played on iOS or Android so it can reach not only the Hive community but also other mobile gamers.

Voted. I hope it goes through. Looking forward to see the game go live as well 😀
Also, thanks for the work the team has been putting in.

Thanks, it's been a long ~2 years, we hope the community will be happy with it once they get to try it and excited for future development around the ecosystem!

PS. we may also be working on a teaser/trailer soon that our animator is excited to tackle!

Definitely not the best time for a new proposal at this moment. I'd love to support this one, though. Is there any updated roadmap available? Any marketing plan for when the game is launched? Any KPIs, like the targeted number of off-Hive players? The expected sum of investment from these players? I understand it does not seem to be the topic before the game is even released, but it is precisely the businessy mindset we as a community have been lacking, and what resonates within the community lately.

Updating the whitepaper and roadmap is something that's hard to do currently, once we've managed to test the game properly and release it to the public we believe things will become more open and better to time/predict along with what more funding and new team members would allow to make possible. Clearly our first guesstimates of a roadmap, as one can see from the current outdated whitepaper were very, very wrong since the game became more complex than anticipated and the value of hive made it impossible to stay on course. Thus we'll be leaving that for a bit later so we can assure a more realistic update.

In terms of marketing, there's referrals and word of mouth. Other than that it will again depend on funding and how popular we are off the gate, currently we have close to 3000 registered hive accounts. We want the game to work for both web2 accounts and web3 as to be able to be promoted in many different places without all the web3 stigma surrounding this space. With the option to turn your web2 accounts into web3 if players want.

Expected investments from players is not our focus nor is the zing token value. That'll be a byproduct of a working and hopefully fun game many will enjoy while we keep growing the team and the ecosystem surrounding the game assets to offer them different games and a reason to come back to playing it on a daily basis.

I see that. On the other hand, DHF is an investment fund of a company in a way. And the shareholders of the company are asked to support a project. We shall approach it differently than just based on sympathy, resentment, or emotions, as the Value plan discussions demonstrate. I guess getting enough support would be quite hard without elaborating on this part of the proposal. Just my two cents, good luck, though! On the other hand, persuading just half of the registered Hiveans to purchase an extra vial will secure the same amount of money this proposal asks for. I am quite willing to do that myself.

The game has a dedicated target audience (Pokemon fans), millions of people. Attracting users seems to be realistic even through standard advertising tools + Twitch + direct work with Pokemon communities on Reddit and other social media.

The game can become a commercially self-sufficient project and a breakthrough in terms of onboarding to Hive.

Looking forward to trying it.

Supported.

Aside from palworld there's also not many other serious contenders out there. I can't even begin to envision when a game/franchise of the sort would come to existence that would properly reward their players/collectors compared to the ones now that only care about their shareholders and profits.

One thing that I am a bit concerned about is how will this make money. HAF NFTs cannot be traded for Hive/HBD tokens. So how will this be monetized both of the purpose of funding the project in the future and bringing revenue back to the chain?

Good luck with the funding. I really hope it gets full community support.

For the intellectually challenged people here i.e. ME! Can you explain what a 'HAF' NFT is, please and what MVP stands for? Thank you :-)

This is a pretty good initiative. Panda and yin yang combo...... Wowieeee 😍

These amazing creative new activities are interesting. These beautiful human-shaped panyang creatures and panyin are lovely. The physical structure of the entire shapes is through the method. Today's activities have been shared through hard and hard work. Respect to all of you for your hard work, thank you sir.

Why don't you ask @buildawhale for money?

This account constantly mines funds from the reward pool in the comments to his posts.

The 2,389,164 HP delegated from blocktrades would be enough to complete the development.

Otherwise, it would be somehow dishonest for you to ask for funds from DHF, increasing inflation of HIVE, and @buildawhale, with the help of blocktrades, constantly increases the number of its HIVE POWER using the reward pool.

Does blocktrades not really believe in the success of your project and does not risk investing its funds?

If the project is so interesting, let @buildawhale and blocktrades buy ZING tokens from you and finance the development of the project.

buildawhale votes on burn posts so that account only earns curation rewards while burning part of the inflation.

buying zing tokens does very little to finance the project, it may increase APR for delegating to it but bigger stakeholders don't usually care about that so the little extra delegations wouldn't amount to much compared to our monthly costs.

The account @buildawhale has earned 1,361,723 HP through this type of farming during its existence.

buildawhale.jpg

HIVE POWER received are first transferred to the @ipromote account, and then to the @alpha account.

Do you really think that no one notices this?

While the hive price is $0.10, the @alpha account receives 28,721 HBD from valueplan, which he received from DHF.

It's not "farming", they're just directing their votes to something other than content at this point in time, before that it used to autovote users for example.

whatever deal they may have between each other is among each other in terms of delegations/payments, point is it is not abusing the curation rewards pool by earning author rewards as well as curation rewards.

Maybe just jump on your main account next time and ask rather than hiding behind a brand new alt account.

Should the proposal pass, do you believe the team would be able to commit to a timeline for playable content?

That's hard to say, it would reduce delays at least but certain things just take their time with such a small team. I think it's going to become even more apparent how much has gone into this game when it is released, at least to the players who go deep into the rabbit hole to find out about all the ways it is gamified and avoids cheating/taking shortcuts, etc.

suporte feito, fico feliz de ver um projeto bem estruturado desejo boa sorte a todos.

Best wishes for the proposal to be approved. Cute little bear.

Supported, contributing to be part of this great game that fills me with great enthusiasm.

I love the new creature and its abilities, and you explained the game more clearly, which I appreciated. I hope you can secure funding and shorten the launch time
of the game's launch. SUCCESS

I hope everything goes well.

I feel like this is more reasonable than some of the other crap out there. Heading over to vote now.
