I was reading @damarysvibra's post about the Initiative "Who am I? My Animal Self", and since I love topics related to animals, here I am to participate.
¿Si fueses un animal, cuál serÃas y por qué?
Mi animal es el pájaro carpintero, ya que estos tienen caracterÃsticas que siento que me representan. En general, los pájaros carpinteros son dedicados, persistentes y organizados. Cuando encuentro algo que me apasiona, me esfuerzo sin descanso, como ese pájaro que golpea con su pico hasta alcanzar su objetivo. No solo son trabajadores, también son cariñosos y hasta románticos. En la naturaleza, el pájaro carpintero es conocido por formar vÃnculos fuertes con su pareja, y creo que en mi vida también valoro mucho las relaciones profundas y significativas.
Sin embargo, debo admitir que, al igual que el pájaro carpintero, puedo ser algo enfadadiza de vez en cuando. A veces la frustración me toma por sorpresa, pero luego vuelvo a encontrar mi ritmo, tal como lo harÃa este ave cuando necesita reorganizarse en busca de un nuevo lugar para picotear.
Además, me gusta pensar en la capacidad del pájaro carpintero para adaptarse a diferentes entornos. Siempre encuentra dónde hacer su nido, sin importar lo difÃcil que parezca. Esta cualidad de resiliencia es algo que me inspira. En mi vida, aunque me enfrento a situaciones que me desafÃan, trato de adaptarme, aprender y salir adelante.
El pájaro carpintero también es cuidadoso y protector. En la naturaleza, no solo cuidan de sus crÃas con dedicación, sino que también son conocidos por construir nidos seguros. Este sentido de protección y responsabilidad también me define, ya que me preocupo mucho por las personas que amo, y siempre busco ofrecerles un entorno seguro y lleno de cariño.
My animal is the woodpecker, as these have characteristics that I feel represent me. In general, woodpeckers are dedicated, persistent, and organized. When I find something I'm passionate about, I work tirelessly, like that bird that keeps pecking until it reaches its goal. They’re not only hard workers, but also affectionate and even romantic. In nature, the woodpecker is known for forming strong bonds with its mate, and I believe I also value deep and meaningful relationships in my life.
However, I must admit that, like the woodpecker, I can be a bit irritable from time to time. Sometimes frustration takes me by surprise, but then I get back into my rhythm, just like this bird when it needs to reorganize itself to find a new spot to peck.
I also like to think about the woodpecker's ability to adapt to different environments. It always finds a place to make its nest, no matter how difficult it may seem. This quality of resilience is something that inspires me. In my life, even when I face challenging situations, I try to adapt, learn, and move forward.
The woodpecker is also careful and protective. In nature, not only do they take care of their young with dedication, but they are also known for building safe nests. This sense of protection and responsibility also defines me, as I deeply care for the people I love and always strive to provide them with a safe and loving environment.
Sin embargo, debo confesar que, aunque me identifico mucho con el pájaro carpintero, hay otro animal que me gustarÃa ser: el halcón. Los halcones son aves impresionantes que siempre me han fascinado. Tienen una presencia poderosa y son lÃderes natos. Se destacan por su fuerza, velocidad y capacidad para dominar los cielos, lo que los convierte en verdaderos sÃmbolos de libertad y valentÃa.
El halcón, para mÃ, representa la habilidad de ver el mundo desde una perspectiva más amplia, sin perder de vista los detalles. Me encantarÃa tener esa visión aguda para afrontar los problemas y desafÃos que la vida presenta, con la confianza y seguridad que tienen estos animales en el aire. Además, me encanta la idea de la independencia que simbolizan. Son animales solitarios pero tremendamente capaces, lo que les permite moverse libremente, cazando y sobreviviendo por su cuenta. La libertad es algo que valoro enormemente, y el halcón la personifica a la perfección.
However, I must confess that, although I identify a lot with the woodpecker, there is another animal I would like to be: the falcon. Falcons are impressive birds that have always fascinated me. They have a powerful presence and are natural leaders. They stand out for their strength, speed, and ability to dominate the skies, making them true symbols of freedom and bravery.
To me, the falcon represents the ability to see the world from a broader perspective, without losing sight of the details. I would love to have that sharp vision to tackle the problems and challenges that life presents, with the confidence and certainty that these animals display in the air. Moreover, I love the idea of the independence they symbolize. Falcons are solitary but incredibly capable creatures, allowing them to move freely, hunting and surviving on their own. Freedom is something I value deeply, and the falcon embodies it perfectly.
Pero claro, la percepción que uno tiene de sà mismo a veces no coincide con la de los demás. Algunas personas, en lugar de verme como un pájaro carpintero o un halcón, me ven más bien como un cuervo. Los cuervos tienen fama de ser animales que molestan o enfurecen a los demás, quizá por su naturaleza astuta y ruidosa. Aunque esto no es del todo negativo, ya que los cuervos también son animales inteligentes y muy adaptables. No obstante, no puedo evitar notar que, a veces, otras personas me ven de esta manera, como si provocara malestar o desorden en algunas situaciones. Tal vez es mi carácter directo o el hecho de que no siempre soy una persona conformista.
Los cuervos también tienen una conexión con lo misterioso y lo desconocido. Se les asocia con la magia o lo sobrenatural en muchas culturas, lo cual me parece muy interesante. Aunque no me guste mucho ser vista de esta forma por otros, reconozco que los cuervos tienen sus virtudes. Son curiosos, inteligentes y muy perspicaces, cualidades que también puedo valorar en mà misma.
En conclusión, si tuviera que elegir, creo que soy una mezcla de estos tres animales. El pájaro carpintero representa mi dedicación, cariño y capacidad de adaptación. El halcón simboliza la fuerza y la libertad que aspiro tener, mientras que el cuervo refleja esa percepción que algunos tienen de mÃ, quizá por mi tendencia a cuestionar las cosas y desafiar lo establecido. Al final del dÃa, todos somos una combinación de varias facetas, y el reino animal nos ofrece una forma divertida e interesante de explorarlas.
But of course, the way one perceives oneself doesn’t always match how others see us. Some people, instead of seeing me as a woodpecker or a falcon, see me more as a crow. Crows have a reputation for being animals that annoy or anger others, perhaps because of their cunning and noisy nature. Although this isn’t entirely negative, as crows are also very intelligent and highly adaptable creatures. Nonetheless, I can’t help but notice that sometimes others see me this way, as if I stir up discomfort or disorder in certain situations. Maybe it’s my straightforward personality or the fact that I’m not always a conformist.
Crows also have a connection with mystery and the unknown. They are associated with magic or the supernatural in many cultures, which I find very interesting. Even though I don’t love being seen this way by others, I acknowledge that crows have their virtues. They are curious, intelligent, and very perceptive, qualities that I can also value in myself.
In conclusion, if I had to choose, I think I am a blend of these three animals. The woodpecker represents my dedication, affection, and ability to adapt. The falcon symbolizes the strength and freedom I aspire to have, while the crow reflects how some people perceive me, perhaps due to my tendency to question things and challenge the status quo. At the end of the day, we are all a combination of various facets, and the animal kingdom offers us a fun and interesting way to explore them.
