Hello dear #Hive friends!.... Welcome to a new edition of my street photography series " Exposed Gaze". This time, honouring my fondness for reflecting the drama in the streets around me, I have selected some shots related to the decay of the town and the -apparently- irreversible and constant submission in the abandonment...
¡Hola queridos amigos de #Hive!... Bienvenidos a una nueva edición de mis series de fotografías callejeras "Mirada Expuesta". Esta vez, haciendo honor a mi afición por reflejar el drama de las calles alrededor de mi, he seleccionado algunas fotografías relacionadas con el decaimiento del pueblo y su -al parecer- irreversible y constante sumisión den el abandono...

It is the same as always, the same as it has been for several years now. The town is slowly and inexorably decaying, while most of its inhabitants simply choose to ignore it. Sometimes, being in these streets reminds me of that scene in the film "Titanic" where an orchestra of musicians played quietly while the ship was sinking. That is partly how this town is. It is sinking into neglect while the people who live here decide that it is better to ignore this fact and carry on partying. This is especially true on holidays such as these, during which it is common to see people going from partying to partying, seeking a relative "normality" that is artificial and based on ignorance and indolence. But that is perhaps the fate of peoples governed by ignorance rather than reason. So I'll just keep taking pictures while the whole thing falls apart.
Es lo mismo de siempre, lo mismo que ha ocurrido desde hace ya varios años. El pueblo va decayendo lenta e inexorablemente, mientras buena parte de sus habitantes simplemente optan por obviarlo. A veces, estar en estas calles, me recuerda aquella escena de la película "Titanic" en donde una orquesta de músicos tocaba tranquilamente mientras el baro se hundía. Así es en parte este pueblo. Se va hundiendo en el abandono mientras la gente que lo habita decide que es mejor ignorar este hecho y seguir la juerga. Esto es especialmente cierto en días festivos como estos, durante los cuales e común mirar personas de juerga en juerga, procurándose una relativa "normalidad" artificial y basada en la ignorancia y la indolencia. Pero ese es quizás el destino de los pueblos gobernados por la ignorancia y no por la razón. Así que yo solo seguiré tomando fotos mientras que todo esto cae a pedazos.

Gee, I'm reading what I just wrote in previous lines. I really woke up today with my "long exacerbated dramatic sense"... But this is common for me, as I have a perhaps slightly more critical view of my surroundings than the vast percentage of my fellow countrymen. This also makes many of them see me as "that weird guy who seems to be bothered by everything" quite often. And, after half a century of analysis, maybe they are right and the "misfit" is me, not them. After all, that which I call "the average rough-and-tumble local population" seems to go on wandering around happily while everything (the physical, the intellectual and the moral things) decays irretrievably around them. I suppose it is a town (a country rather) condemned to an irreversible society breakdown. That is what it looks like if you look closely and analyse it today. Obviously, there is a good percentage of people different from that "rough average", however, failed states are always more prone to oclocracy and surely those "best-behaved people" will end up leaving the country or "surviving on social islands" as it already does since the beginning of this century, when everything started to go down the drain here.
Caray, estoy leyendo lo que acabo de escribir en lineas previas. Realmente desperté hoy con mi "sentido dramático largamente exacerbado"... Pero esto es común en mí, pues tengo una visión del entorno quizás un poco más crítica que el amplio porcentaje de mis paisanos. Esto también hace que muchos de ellos me vean como "ese tipo raro a el que todo parece molestarle" con bastante frecuencia. Y, después de medio siglo analizándolo, quizás ellos tengan razón y el "desadaptado" sea yo no ellos. Después de todos, eso que llamo "el basto promedio de la población local" parece seguir deambulando felizmente mientras todo (las cosas físicas, las intelectuales y las morales) decae irremediablemente a su alrededor. Supongo que es un pueblo (un país mejor dicho) condenado a un irreversible descalabro de su sociedad. Eso es lo que parece si se mira de cerca y se analiza en la actualidad. Obviamente, hay una buen porcentaje de personas distintas a ese "basto promedio", sin embargo, los estados fallidos siempre son más proclives a la oclocracia y seguramente esas "personas de mejor proceder" terminarán yéndose del país o "sobreviviendo en islas sociales" como ya lo hace desde principios de este siglo, cuanto todo comenzó a irse por el drenaje aquí.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.

You speak from the heart with your words. We are brothers in spirit. However, I would go so far as to say that this phenomenon is not just specific to one country. I've travelled all over the world and I can tell you that I've noticed this foul smell of decay in societies all over the world. It's people who have lost respect for their own kind.

Foto muy sorprendente con esta palmera en mitad de la carretera. Supongo que se utilizaba para cruzar una rotonda en un cruce mientras se esperaba.

Hahaha :)... No precisamente amigo @cyboule!... Se trata de que la calle "Literalmente se ha hundido" debido a filtraciones de las tuberías de agua del pueblo, también la humedad afectó las cimientes de la casa al fondo... ¡Nuestras autoridades locales son simplemente "maquinas de hacer nada" mientras despilfarran el poco presupuesto que llega al municipio!... Los vecinos de este rincón del pueblo colocaron esa vieja palmera allí para evitar que alguien cayese de noche con su motocicleta o su auto (el alumbrado publico tampoco funciona)... Créeme, nuestros gobernantes locales son realmente cuestionables.. Es un lugar duro para vivir...

Siempre hay una razón por la que los vecinos, afortunadamente, aseguraron el agujero. Amiga @jlinaresp, lógicamente debería haberlo hecho el municipio. Pero hoy ya no hay ninguna lógica.
