Health Check
Lately access to data is getting better and better when we are talking about Splinterlands. If you haven't seen it yet, I am getting all my data from here:

I like to call these post a health check, basically to understand how are we doing as a community. In January I published this post, which looked at hive holding for top 1000 SPS stakeholders at the time. Today I have access to top 2000 SPS stakeholders! Looks like we will have this access forever. Let us dive into the data, shall we?!
This doesn't look much different visually. Most of the space is empty. The way I interpret this is in terms of opportunity space.
What we will do next is to display the same data in log-log space to see it better. My goal is as follows
- inspire people to post content on hive
- posting content on hive whether SL related or otherwise is helpful for personal growth
- your hive blog is your digital journal, it will be there long after you are gone
- if you produce valuable content that raise awareness and engagement, then you can earn
Based on these principles, I have been guiding many individuals. I have decided to plot 4 such names who are showing marked improvements
In no particular order they are
- psilence
- beffeater
- seattlea
- captaindingus
Do you see these four randomly chosen names follow a trendline? :)
Yes, they have increased their hive presence significantly, and their HP growth reflect that. I have taken the liberty of extrapolating their trendline towards the direction I like for them to go. Just look where that trendline is pointing!
I didn't make it up. It is in the data :)
That is the path every new hive content creator should take. If they do, they will thrive in this ecosystem.
Back to the Distribution
The top looks healthy and unchanged. That is s good sign. Large investors are stable in this game, and that is rare in crypto space.
In terms of the overall distribution, it is highly log-normal, as expected. It is very funny that in this highly asymmetric distribution my friend @misterrogers provides the symmetry, by being exactly at the median!
I would love for this distribution to flatten a bit. I like the median to move from rank 87 to the right, say past 100 and then 150 and so on.
Chages in the last month
There are only minor changes at the top.
- Bravetofu bought more SPS than vugtis and moved to number one spot
- Yabapmatt bought more SPS and moved from number seven to number four spot
- Overall, Top 10 remained unchanged as an aggregate
- Currently as individual accounts, Top 10 holds 25% of the total staked SPS

Note: Sep 2024 and Jan 2025 data consists of Top 1000 SPSP accounts, while the current data consists of Top 2000 SPSP accounts. This is because, previously there was no simple way to extract this data, but now thanks to @beaker007 we can do this very easily here:

This is great how you can export top 2000 holders into excel file and go to town with all kinds of analysis! I am at 354th position with 447k Staked SPS and at 125th position HP wise. To get into top 100 HP holders you need 13,253 HP at this time.
Also, it looks like the total Hive Power holdings of top 2000 SPS holders are only:
About 10% of the holdings are in the SPS.Dao...
Yes. That's why the first plot is mostly empty space. I am trying hard to change this.
Interesting data to see. I hope to follow the trend of silence, beffeater, seattlea, and captaindingus myself. Soon I should reach the 1,000 HP mark.

Thanks for the update. I have been trying to do a little more posting about Splinterlands now that I have my node delegated out and running. Since I have people voting for me, I feel like I should post more.

It looks like a lot more people got active on Hive AND started holding instead of selling? Definitely looks like a huge rise.
I'm one of those that got from the <1000 to the >1000 Hive since the last update - and I'm proud of it :-D also getting closer to my other goal, the 133k SPS. I'm buying 100 SPS each day to get there, using the HBD from posting. Got up to 128.5k now, so I'm getting there (staking all the tournament prices as well).
Still gotta upgrade my deck, recently I'm not advancing anymore...
A balanced approach is what you are following. You are right in that data cloud along the ideal path.
Wow! Thanks for your coaching and support. Means so much to me! I have moved all my resources and budget to Conclave Arcana (it's impossible to reach everything in this enormous ecosystem and we are just in the beginning of the skyrocket move!). Also I have set a complementary goal of 2,5KHP before summer which I do hope do reach it! #Vonak!

I still don't have 10k HP but at least I am closer now. Recently I added 900HP. I wish I could add at least ten times that but for now that is impossible.

Very interesting data and it is a motivation for newbies on hive
Splinterlands players should hold more HivePower in my opinion, because Hive and Splinterlands belong together and you should support each other.
Nice to see Splinterlands thriving and supported by top players and whales. It will be better though if top players will support Hive as well creating content and staking Hive.

I find myself on the slightly hp-heavier side of this distribution, close to beffeater. I guess that's a pretty good spot.

There is a continues increase on the holders every year

It will take me awhile to get out of the cluster because there are quite a few outliers that cause the scale to be stretched...
