It is #beautifulsunday and #sublimesunday to be able to share with you a silver coin that depicts one of my favorite designs- SHIP- and with significance to the history of America.
Today we will look at the Mayflower silver coin.
The Mayflower is one of the most well-known sailing vessels in American history. The ship itself predates the founding of the United States of America, but its place in the history of the country is held dearly as the start of permanent settling in what is now the United States. The Mayflower departed from Plymouth, England, in September 1620 with a goal of reaching the New World.
2020 Rwanda 1 oz Silver Nautical Ounce Mayflower BU
The 2020 Nautical Ounce series release commemorates the 400th anniversary of the English ship, The 'Mayflower' which was one of the first ships to bring Pilgrims to the "New World".4th design in the Rwandan Nautical Ounce Series, contains 1 ounce of .999 fine silver by the German Mint, 50 RWF Franc.
Once the Mayflower departed from Plymouth, England, it took just over two months to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The ship with 103 passengers and 30 crew arrived off the coast of Cape Cod on November 9, 1620, and the settlers of would eventually build up a colony before winter set-in in full.

The reverse side of 2020 Rwandan Silver Mayflower Nautical Ounce Coin includes the coat of arms & official seal of for the Republic of Rwanda and the face value of 50 Francs. The national emblem features a traditional basket in the center with sorghum and coffee on either side, with all these elements flanked by traditional indigenous shields.

I just got my May Flower too to add to the series collection.
I know there are lots of different coins by other countries featuring this famous ship.
The closest thing to a bird house I have is either the Bird Feeder or the Cuckcoo clock.

There are three MayFlower sip coins for 2020, the two others are pricier. Lucky for me I do not collect those series. When the Santa Maria first came out, the only indication we had that there will be other coins to follow was they called it a "Nautical Ounce." This is the fourth one now, and before we know it there will be a tube full! The sailing vessel Anne also brought Pilgrims to the New World. Have you seen a coin with her on it? When the German Mint runs out of ships to feature there will be other nautical themes and designs that they can feature, I guess. We are getting old together, sis!!! I passed through Plymouth before in trip several years ago. Cannot remember much I think I remember hearing about Mayflower and Thanksgiving though I did a bit of search and found the Thanksgiving was practice before the ship arrives.
There are historical accounts as well as myths and legends surrounding when the first THanksgiving celebration occurred. Our national Thanksgiving Day was established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. This was the first nationally declared Thanksgiving Day for the United States, which is still observed on the fourth Thursday each November to the present day. Take care, my friend, @ace108 🥰🌺🤙

Do you have the 2017 Santa Maria, the 2018 Endeavor, and the 2019 Victoria @djohan? The Rwanda designs have a unique look to them. I've attached a photo of the earlier ship coins in one of my replies to the comments. You probably have them, but in case you don't you can view the coins there. So interesting the story behind the Mayflower! We have been watching a Video series called "Footloose in England". They Just covered the mayflower and it's voyage to America.
They covered how The Mayflower actually left from Southampton......First.....
The ship Was escorting another ship that was leaking, called the Speedwell, and they both stopped in Dartmouth for repairs.
Then they traveled up to Plymouth, and then the voyage to America!😀
