Is this game even beatable❓
If I ever meet someone who has actually finished this game, I will have to shake their hand and ask how in the world they managed to do so. I picture it taking over 100 deaths for most people, sometimes several hundred. I've noticed a few people over on Reddit saying they beat it a lot quicker, but those gamers must have either been godly or figured out a secret trick.
I'm sure Returnal speedrunners exist, but they cannot be very common. Anybody who manages to beat this game in a single life deserved to be honored in a gamer hall of fame. I didn't even make it out of the first biome until dying nearly ten times. The second biome is even worse and I am not sure if I will ever make it out of there alive.
I still have not been able to get back to the now opened portal that leads to the Crimson Wastes. I keep succumbing to an over encumbrance of enemies in the Overgrown Ruins. I don't want to avoid every single fight because I need to secure some artifacts, parasites, consumables, and of course a strong weapon before venturing into the even more difficult Crimson Wastes. At the same time, there are extremely dangerous enemies that I am now steering clear of that way I can actually survive long enough to make it to the portal.
The thing about Returnal is, you never know what is going to be where. I could be taking what seems to be the safest route possible and staying focused on getting to that portal, but the next thing I know the game decides that I am to be stuck in a locked room filled with violent aliens wanting to crave a look at my motionless dead body on the ground.
Skill and luck both play a huge part in progressing in Returnal. During my tenth cycle, I was nowhere near lucky or skilled enough to get out of the Overgrown Ruins. Another death sends me back to the beginning to try again soon.
