What's up my people, I hope very well, I know it's a topic already quite discussed, but for our bad luck is very current today, there is still a lot of toxicity in the video game industry, especially in those that are online, I'm not the biggest fan of playing online games, if I play any is because it is a fighting game, I don't usually play Fortnite or that kind of game where you are with so many people, usually what I play online is with friends, and they are cooperative games, as can be Borderlands, or some other like Resident Evil 5, which I already talked about a while ago. This is a very interesting topic to talk about, so I wanted to tell a little bit about it from my point of view and how I have done with this topic.
The first time I was lucky enough to play a game with people from all over the world, look this was the great promotion for online in video games, before it was impossible to think about it, but well, the first one I tried was Counter Strike, followed by the online that Half Life had, this was a golden age for me, because I played it in a cyber cafe with friends from school, and it was crazy, especially Counter Strike, I think it was what we played the most back then. Valve has been a very significant company for the industry in this section, and I remember when I played this online, already with people I did not know, there was not that toxicity that I see in other current video games, I did not see that lack of respect, I am saying this from my point of view and experience, surely there are people who had a bad time and received many insults, but it is also because in the games in which I entered we simply played, it was very rare that we talked, and also used the codes that the game had to communicate without having to write.
Then what I played was the online of Gears of War and Far Cry 2 too, I made a post talking about my first experience with the Far Cry saga, with the third game, and that's because that was the first one I played, talking about the story mode, which is very different from the online, it almost seems like another game, but the first one I really played was the second one with my friends, again, here in these games I didn't notice any toxicity, I had a lot of fun with those games and the truth I don't have bad memories at all, but that was a long time ago of course. The first time I started to notice that kind of toxicity in my experience was with Warface and Zula, suddenly these games don't sound familiar, maybe Warface does, but Zula is not very well known, I used to play those too, and yes I started to notice insults, not directly towards me, I rarely noticed them, but this was already something current at that time, although it was fun, there were people who only wanted to annoy.
I also remember playing on a Minecraft server, here it is true that people are unleashed, you see insults everywhere in the chats, harassment, and such issues, I took it as a joke because it does not affect me to come a child and tell me rude, It doesn't affect me, I just want to have a good time and that's it, I don't give it any more thought, and I think it's a little bit the mentality you have to have, that this kind of things don't affect you, this is especially for very young people, because an adult usually doesn't pay attention to this. I have also seen news that there are women who do not reveal their gender in online games precisely because of harassment, people start to say some impressive barbarities against them, that's why they do not reveal their gender, and I find it unfortunate for people who start to bother others in this way, I do not know how far this has come, I have not seen it in the flesh, but you can see that it is something serious, not everyone is the same, there are people who take things to heart, and I think you have to control it, luckily there are people who when they see that some stupid person enters to insult just because, they take him out immediately, for that you can block and remove people in online games, so you could control the thing a little there.
And well that was my experience in online games, I didn't spend it playing this kind of games either, just like I said, I play something cooperative with my friends and that's it, there are times when it is fun to play something online with people from another country, people you don't know, it's fun of course, but there are people of all kinds, and it's obvious that this had to happen, I am from Venezuela, but this goes to more extremes in the English community, it is another culture, so I can not give you my point of view with people of another language, luckily we are getting better and better and this is being controlled, I just hope we get to a point where it is not uncomfortable for anyone to be playing what they like.
Qué tal mi gente, espero que muy bien, sé que es un tema ya bastante discutido, pero para nuestra mala suerte está muy vigente a día de hoy, sigue existiendo mucha toxicidad en la industria de los videojuegos, sobre todo en los que son en línea, no soy el más fan de estar jugando juegos en línea, si juego alguno es porque es un juego de lucha, no suelo jugar Fortnite o ese tipo de juego donde estás con tanta gente, normalmente lo que juego en línea es con amigos, y son juegos cooperativos, como pueden ser Borderlands, o algún otro como Resident Evil 5, del que ya hablé hace un tiempo. Este tema es muy interesante para charlar, así que quería un poco contar las cosas desde mi punto de vista y como me ha ido con este tema.
La primera vez que tuve la suerte de jugar algún juego con gente de todo el mundo, mira que esta era la gran promoción para el online en los videojuegos, antes era imposible pensarlo, pero bueno, el primerito que probé fue Counter Strike, seguido del online que tenía Half Life, esto para mí fue una época dorada, porque lo jugaba en un cyber café con amigos de la escuela, y era una locura, sobre todo Counter Strike, creo que fue lo que más jugamos en ese entonces. Valve ha sido una empresa muy significativa para la industria en este apartado, y recuerdo que cuando jugaba esto de forma online, ya con gente que no conocía, no había esa toxicidad que veo en otros videojuegos actuales, no veía esa falta de respeto, esto lo estoy diciendo desde mi punto de vista y experiencia, seguramente haya gente que la pasó mal y que recibieron muchos insultos, pero también es porque en las partidas en las que yo entraba simplemente jugábamos, era muy raro que habláramos, y también se utilizaban los códigos que tenía el juego para comunicarse sin tener que escribir.
Después lo que jugué fue el online de Gears of War y el de Far Cry 2 también, hice un post hablando de mi primera experiencia con la saga Far Cry, con el tercer juego, y eso es porque ese fue el primero que jugué, hablando del modo historia, que es muy diferente del online, casi que parece otro juego, pero el primero que jugué de verdad fue el segundo con mis amigos, nuevamente, aquí en estos juegos no noté nada de toxicidad, me divertía mucho con esos juegos y la verdad no tengo malos recuerdos para nada, pero eso fue hace mucho tiempo por supuesto. La primera vez que empecé a notar ese tipo de toxicidad en mi experiencia fue con Warface y Zula, de repente estos juegos no les suenan conocidos, capaz Warface sí, pero Zula no es muy conocido, antes jugaba estos también, y si empecé a notar insultos, no directamente hacia mí, rara vez los noté, pero esto ya era algo vigente en ese entonces, aunque era divertido, había gente que solo buscaba molestar.
Recuerdo también haber jugado en algún servidor de Minecraft, aquí si es verdad que la gente se desata, ves insultos por todos lados en los chats, acoso, y ese tipo de temas, yo me lo tomaba como una broma porque es que no me afecta que venga un niño y me diga groserías, no me afecta, solo quiero pasar un buen rato y ya está, no le doy más vueltas, y creo que es un poco la mentalidad que tienes que tener, que no te afecten este tipo de cosas, esto es sobre todo para gente muy joven, porque alguien adulto normalmente no le presta atención a esto. También he visto noticias de que hay mujeres que no revelan su género en juegos online precisamente por el acoso, la gente comienza a decir unas barbaridades impresionantes en contra de ellas, es por eso que no revelan su género, y me parece lamentable por la gente que se pone a molestar a los demás de esta manera, no sé a qué punto ha llegado esto, no lo he visto en carne propia, pero se ve que es algo serio, no todos son iguales, hay gente que se toma muy a pecho las cosas, y creo que hay que controlarlo, por suerte hay gente que cuando ve que entra algún estúpido de estos a insultar porque sí, lo sacan de inmediato, para eso puedes bloquear y sacar a la gente en juegos online, así que se podría controlar un poco la cosa ahí.
Y bueno eso fue mi experiencia en juegos online, tampoco me la pasó jugando este tipo de juegos, solamente como dije, juego algo cooperativo con mis amigos y ya está, hay veces que sí que es divertido jugar algo online con gente de otro país, gente que no conoces, es divertido claro, pero hay gente de todo tipo, y es obvio que esto tenía que pasar, yo soy de Venezuela, pero esto llega a más extremos en la comunidad inglesa, es otra cultura, así que no les puedo dar mi punto de vista con gente de otro idioma, por suerte cada vez vamos mejorando esto y se va controlando, solo espero que lleguemos a un punto en el que no sea incómodo para nadie estar jugando lo que le gusta.
la gran desventaja de los juegos Online ha sido cuando se genera una comunidad toxica al rededor del mismo, por eso siempre es increíble cuando logras encontrar un juego con una comunidad muy amigable. Minecraft lo he jugado varias veces pero nunca online y creo que unas de las razones para no hacerlo era lo toxica que se mencionaba que era algunas de sus comunidades en ciertos servidores.
Si si, yo lo vi en carne propia, la cantidad de niños que hay ahí es sorprendente, sobre todo el acoso y todo ese tema.
Creo que las comunidades o parte de una comunidad que se vuelva tóxica es inevitable, lastimosamente hay gente así en este mundo y por más que se haga es difícil de erradicar. Hay muchos juegos en los que perdemos las ganas de jugar por eso. Comparto tu punto acerca de Counter Strike, realmente antes no era tóxico pero jugarlo actualmente sí cambia todo. Gente insultándote porque si, acusandote de todo, incluso niños y personas ya mayores. Y en su momento pasé muchas incomodidades porque recuerdo que jugaba con una amiga y cada vez que ella hablaba, era como si todos los hombres se volvieran urgidos de repente. Acosándola, insultándola, o mándandole mil solicitudes al Steam. Al final siempre terminabamos cambiando de servidor o hablando solo entre ella y yo. Esa toxicididad es muy difícil de erradicar, pero algo que sí he notado es que se han tomado muchas más acciones que antes.

Lo de tu amiga está muy feo, es una lástima que haya gente así, sobre todo porque si lo que dices es así, entonces es como si fuera ella contra todo el servidor, porque el único que puede eliminar ese tipo de acosos sería el admin del server, pero si ese admin está a favor y es otro estúpido tóxico, está difícil la cosa. Hay juegos que tienen medidas contra esto, y me parece muy bien.
I find the most toxicity comes from gammes that have hardcore fan bases. It's like they want to gatekeep the game from new players. It wasn't until I actually started playing online games when I was around 11 or 12 (mostly cod) did I start becoming anxious about my speech problem, as obiviously, that's the first thing people would attack me on. Especially, if I was whooping their ass.
It's a great pity brother about this whole issue. As far as I understand the most toxic ones lie in games like LoL, Dota, that kind of games, I have no idea because I haven't even played them, but I have seen news.

Ah si, la clásica toxicidad en juegos online. Hace unos días que estabamos jugando Halo online, había un tipo gritandole cosas como "WALLHACK" y "HACKER" y tal a uno de los jugadores sin motivo alguno 😂
La toxicidad me parece algo que siempre estara por mas reglas que se pongan, creo que puede haber IA que prediga el comportamiento de los jugadores pero pasara un buen rato antes de que haya una solucion
