Desfrán – Day 10

in HiveGarden21 days ago (edited)

With my winter cannabis grow wrapped up, we are now moving onto starting my outdoor seeds. But indoors to begin with. Since it is still quite cold outside on some mornings. I am waiting a month for things to warm up around here before I try planting them in the ground. This also gives me time to prep the planting sites. As I want to redo the holes a little bit out there. When I dug the holes I just used my skidsteer and its auger bit to drill since large holes. But from what I have read, cannabis plants like more wide holes than deep ones. So I want to go out there and dig them out a bit before its time to plant them anyways.

Strain:Desfrán
Dominance:100% sativa
Nutrients used:Happy Frog Soil / Ocean Forest soil. Big Bloom, Grow big:All FoxFarm products.
Lineage:Destroyer x Meao Thai landrace
Current growing stage:Seedling
Current plant age:10 days old
Sex:Feminized
Location:Central Virginia

These little seedlings were started in a cup of water, leaving them to soak for 24 hours before planting. This triggers the seeds growth and starts its vegetative stage of its life.

Now they will live in these seven gallon pots for a month while they establish their root system.

If I was to move them now they would probably not make it, but in a month or so they may be strong enough for a transplanting. At that point they will be in the ground for the rest of their season.

Usually they do good with a month of growth to be moved, last year I started them in some smaller pots. And ran into an issue where their roots were coming out the bottom before it was time to put them outside. Risking their growth to frost, so this time I wanted to make sure to keep them in big pots until its time to plant them. So they do not reach the side and stop growing.

They are quite small right now, but soon that will change.

I think they should be close to 6 inches by the time its time to move them outside.

Until then I mist the soil around them, and one day they will get gallons of water at a time. But for now just a table spoon or so.

So what is next? I let these seedlings grow for about 30 days. Until May. And then I hope I should have some good sized plants ready for transplanting into the ground. From there, their outdoor journey is just starting. With hopes that these mostly sativa traits they should do well in the humid region where I live. Using this strain crossed with a Thai landrace should help it with the humidity around here. And with the bud formation usually being less dense from its sativa genetics, air flow should get inside better keeping the risk of mold lower.

So we shall see, it would be cool to get my outdoor grow all dialed in. My indoor grows have been going pretty well, so it would be nice to have a good grow outside too.

Spring is in the air for sure!

Yeah it is starting to warm up around here, but theres still a chance of a cold snap so I am patiently waiting.

Same here!

Hermosa ..solo hay que darle un buen uso medicinal ..

Interesting, nice wider holes make them grow more happily. I did not know that! Those are all looking nice and healthy and come May hopefully they take well to transplantation. That shock is always hard on plants!

Good luck, I hope these turn out to be some real winners with very little bud rot!

Yeah but really depends on the plant, some like to go deep but others spread out to the sides more.

Thanks, hopefully all will go well in about a month with it. And hoping for the best through out summer.
