The grow room is starting to feel quite full with all the plants waking up inside. Though the cold weather outside is probably not over yet. So I think waiting another month would be wise before planting these.
Right now I have some Elderberry, Raspberry, Boysenberry plants growing. Along with some smaller herbs and seedlings for the upcoming garden.
I wonder if the berry plants can just go in the ground now without issue, while others like the annual brussell sprouts, spinach and others need more time before they are ready for the outdoors.
Not all of our seeds have started, seems even a mix of the small bad dirt is causing problems. I may need to dispose and use all my new dirt I got.. The same stuff I am growing my cannabis plants in now.
These berry plants need water every day, and they are taking up much of the room in there. So I am thinking about taking and chance and planting them early. I have some t-posts in the ground I am going to attach a fence to for them to grow up on.
Though not all the trays have seeds coming up, some of the Pine seeds are not germinating. I fear the use of the bad soil is causing these issues.
I put lavender seeds in these trays after keeping them in the fridge for about 6 weeks. Should do the job of sprouting them. I will give them a good month to sprout before I worry, some just take a long time to get going.
If these lavender seeds do come up. I should have many dozens of plugs to start in pots.
We can see how the berry vines are smothering some of the plants inside. So that is one of the reasons I want to plant them soon. Also their need for watering almost twice a day. The tiny pots they are in is probably causing poor water retention.
The Elderberries are doing alright, I found a spot to put them inside the deer fence to hopefully protect them.
Not much is going on with the pine seeds, they are just hanging in there. So far four have sprouted.
The other herbs are also doing alright, the cuttings are still in water and they are doing good. Will put them in the ground in about a month.
Some of the roses are still inside, the ones I did not see any signs of spider mites.
But the ones affected by them have been banished to the outside.
I will probably start with planting the roses, as they are very cold hardy. And then move onto the berry bushes. Curious to see if we get fruit this year. But I hope using some t-posts and fencing I can give them the support they need to get big and strong.
Waiting on a delivery of mulch and then I should have everything I need to start planting this season. With many bags of Foxfarm dirt, the good stuff I think I will have some success this year.
That's great improvement
I think so too
Nice efforts Sir.
Gardening is a great hobby.
sure is.. thank you
Good evening my brother, I hope it goes according to your wishes, this time you plant several types of plants, I hope you succeed, I really want to see the plants next month, they will definitely grow very well ❤️❤️
I think it should be good in a month to plant.. and will do another post on it soon.
I always look forward to seeing it my friend ❤️
I also think so, bad soil factors can cause plant seeds to not grow significantly, I have also experienced several failures in planting chili seeds, but I continue to study for the next stage, but there are three types of plants such as elderberry, raspberry and boysenberry plants, I think you have a new job, good luck my friend, Stay very committed to😊
Yeah peppers need really warm weather. I find when I start them too early they do not do much until it gets really warm..
ah thank you
The color effects of the light are kind of cool.
hah yeah they are kind of pink.
Good afternoon, dear friend @solominer
I'm very sorry that some of your seeds aren't doing well. I think it's largely a problem with the soil.
I think you should wait a few more days before taking your plants outside. I don't think it's a good idea to risk having them ruined by the cold.
I hope everything continues to thrive as it has been.
Yeah its a shame but its all a learning experience.
Me too.. good idea.
We appreciate your work and your publication has been hand selected by the geography curation team on behalf of the Amazing Nature AN Community. Keep up the good work!
You are definitely way ahead of me! I usually wait until memorial weekend to get my garden planted! Things are looking good! I think it is smart to wait another month. Even that far south I am sure April snow storms aren't out of the question!
Hah yeah having a grow room helps.. otherwise I would need to wait until I could use my green house.
So true, until May its hard to know for sure.
I think it's the soil, I also had such problems. Sorry about your seeds
Ah yeah probably that is it.. no worries it is what it is.
Es hermoso en verdad tu jardín
ah thanks, glad you like it.
Brussel sprouts are a cold weather plant down here so I googled them for growing in Va and this is what AI says, but I think you still might get some by planting now before it gets too hot.
To grow Brussels sprouts in Virginia for a fall harvest, you can start seeds indoors in late July or early August and transplant them outdoors in mid to late July, or direct seed outdoors in early July.
That was ok for a fall garden so I asked if you can plant them now.
Yes, you can plant Brussels sprouts now in Virginia, but for a fall harvest, you should start seeds indoors in late July or early August, or direct sow in mid to late summer.
It still wants you to grow them for your fall garden, so maybe you can keep this in mind and get two crops of them. I wish I could grow them now but it gets too hot and the bugs take over. For the last 5 years I have not been able to grow them because it has stayed too warm. Good luck, they are delicious roasted.
Since we have never got them to grow before its going to be hard to say if they do well in early spring or late autumn. If they do not do well this time, we can try again after summer and see if they do better.
I think they grow slow, so if they do well they will grow a little early spring, stop growing during the summer and then resume growing in the autumn.. not sure exactly but that is what I think.
Thanks for doing research into this, may need to try again in the autumn.. we shall see.
Wow! Nice! I am going to start my indoor tomato plants in April, because it is too cold to plant in Washington until May. I do need to visit a nursery and get some grape plants as I want to plant them under our rock wall.
I feel ya, I have a green house and cannot use it until it warms up more.
Oh cool... I want to grow some grapes too. Best of luck with yours.
Your grow room must be looking like a jungle by now man. It's something intend to build one day in my house. The berry plants are really they’re taking over. I’d probably just give in and let them rule the place. Hope you get a good harvest 💪💪💪💪
Haha yeah it sure is.. and thank you.. hopefully in a year or two I should have some good berries.
Good luck planting! Sounds like you're ready for a successful gardening season.
Ah thanks much.. should be good
Spider mites? That sounds like a bitch to deal with
But uhhh, for the rest most of your plants look absolutely stunning, they have gotten a really decent size for growing indoors. I have a growlight as well, but my results are not at all like your in this
Keep them coming! Curious about the results later on in the season
Yeah they are, got to be careful not to let them spread.
Ah thanks.. yeah they were outdoor plants that were dormant. So now they are waking up in the warm grow room.
Will do another update soon on them.
Temperatures are changing so fast, man. So it might make sense not to plant outside right now. Lavender is one of the most fragrant flowers. Although some types don't smell haha, but I once visited a field planted with lavender and it smelled very nice.
Ah yeah, probably should wait until it warms up for sure.
Yeah that is my hope is to grow enough of it to smell it.. Oh cool that must have been really pretty.
so beautiful work !
ah thanks much
And let life be made!!!
A well-thought-out and well-kept place can also be suitable for life and growth! It's great to see all the work and investment you've done.
Thanks.. yeah the grow room has been working out well for me.
Good, healthy growth everywhere. Cheers.
There is a lot of work to do it seems, but it is clear that you have all the knowledge to act accordingly, of course sometimes certain factors do not help, such as bad soil and spider mites, but everything with care can flourish 💪
Watering them all can be quite a bit of work but its not too bad.
Wow, there are so many plants in your house, I really don't like it when I see some of the types of plants you planted. I at home also plant several types of food plants but corn types
Yep.. I am growing many things here.
Hopefully quickly grow big and flowering I really can't wait to see it
How are these plantings going @solominer 🤝👏. Great job you are developing on the plants.
A hug and excellent weekend bro !!! 😉🙏🏻
Fox farm dirt is the shit. You using the Ocean Blend?
