A while ago, I had the pleasure of checking out one of the food bazaars set up for the Mid-Autumn Festival. I visited in the morning when most of the stalls were not yet open, and the vendors were just preparing the food they planned to sell. Typically, these kinds of food bazaars operate in the late afternoon until midnight, with the activities peaking in the evening. So, I figured I had arrived a bit too early to fully experience the bustling atmosphere.
However, I think my timing was actually quite good. Since there were only a few people around, it made it easier for me to take some street and candid photography. I managed to capture a glimpse of the typical activities at a food bazaar like this, including the preparations and the types of food usually sold at these street food events.
Usually, these bazaars pop up during seasonal events like festivals or holidays, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival we're celebrating right now. I was hoping to see more people here to capture some crowd shots, but I guess because I arrived too early, there weren't many around. Another reason might be that people were still tired from last night's event at Gardens by the Bay, so they weren’t in the mood to come to the bazaar as early as I did.
Nevertheless, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to take photos, so I went ahead and captured what I could at the food bazaar. Most of the vendors were still busy preparing their food and weren’t available to serve customers yet, which gave me the chance to document the behind-the-scenes moments. I used this as an opportunity to capture something interesting for my entry into this week's #monomad challenge.
I took a bunch of photos, though I ended up discarding more than half of them because they didn’t quite capture the moments I was hoping for, or they simply weren’t good enough for posting. Eventually, I narrowed it down to a set of photos that I’m happy to present in today’s post.
The experience of visiting the food bazaar early gave me a unique perspective on the quiet preparation phase, which I rarely get to see. Though it wasn’t as lively as I had hoped, I’m satisfied with the photos I captured and look forward to revisiting during peak hours for more vibrant shots.
