Today we make a brief review of one of the most famous safety razors: the Edwin Jagger DE89.
It is a high quality closed comb safety razor at an affordable price. The version I own (photo)
is the one with the handle in black bakelite coated while the metal used for the construction is the usual zamak but here chromed with a double layer process to make it more robust to the alkaline agents of the soaps.
The head has a closed comb of extreme sweetness on the face, offering a very comfortable and irritation-free shave.
I find the version with black handle more classic with its purely English elegance.
Although the smooth handle may seem not very gripping especially with wet hands, in reality it has a non-slip treatment that still allows a good grip in all conditions.
The head is in the shape, practically identical to that of the Muhle R89 razor, but as we have already said, here with a double layer of chrome plating.
The perfect coupling of the parts makes the inserted blade very stable, increasing comfort and effectiveness.
It is a razor that is highly recommended for those approaching the world of traditional shaving.

Oggi effettuiamo una breve recensione di uno dei più famosi rasoi di sicurezza: l' Edwin Jagger DE89.
Si tratta di un rasoio di sicurezza con testina closed comb di elevata qualità ad un prezzo contenuto. La versione che possiedo (foto)
è quella con il manico in rivestito di bakelite nera mentre il metallo usato per la costruzione è la solita zamak ma qui cromata con un processo a doppio strato per renderla più robusta agli agenti alcalini dei saponi.
La testina presenta un pettine chiuso di un'estrema dolcezza sul viso, offrendo una rasatura molto confortevole e priva di irritazioni.
La versione con manico nero la trovo più classica con la sua eleganza prettamente inglese.
Sebbene il manico liscio potrebbe sembrare poco aggrappante specie con le mani bagnate, in realtà presenta un trattamento antiscivolo che consente comunque una buona presa in tutte le condizioni.
La testina è nella forma, praticamente identica a quella del rasoio Muhle R89, ma come abbiamo già detto, qui con doppio strato di cromatura.
Il perfetto accoppiamento delle parti rende la lametta inserita molto stabile, aumentandone confort ed efficacia.
E' un rasoio che viene caldamente consigliato a chi si avvicina al mondo della rasatura tradizionale.
